    I am impressed. I bought my 2004 sienna minivan in March of 2021. Immediately took all the rear seats to the dump, and slept on the cold metal floor that night. Took me ten months to do the conversion to the tiny home it is now.
    I can see how organized, and possessing of self discipline you are. Living in 30 square feet, every loose item needs to go to it's home before starting a new activity. Super cool that you can fit an oven, microwave, and mixer in. I find it hard dealing with messy dishes, like the bowl I mixed the pancake batter in. Being part of a household where I can bring stuff inside and wash it at a real kitchen sink is SO much easier.
    A couple things I do, use a one liter pump up sprayer for handwashing and dishes. And fill small sprayers with rubbing alcohol, a little spritz and a paper towel cleans up spoons, wipes up greasy saute pan really easy.
    Best wishes, stay safe
    from Portland Oregon

      I wanted to make sure make sure I could drive away without a whole lot of fuss. I everything is locked already. I do have bin for loose items to be quickly tossed in.
      Like tablet, ereader, etc. I have to use 1 cord and that's for my tower fan. Other than that it's good to go.
      Yeah sticky food items is a drag. It's cool you have somewhere other than your van to do it. I just toss on some cheap plastic gloves and go at with paper towels! 🙂
      You stay safe too.

      @Cheflife Vanlife have you ever had issues with parking your van any where, or people trying to break into it,. How many years did it take you to build out the van to your liking and standards. What are some changes you would or would not make what are the pros and cons of living the van life. How do you stay warm during the winter months?? Or cool during the summer months.

    I've been watching nomads living out of their vehicles for a long time, and it truly blows my mind that when the movement really began to hit, it was very simple living without household aminities; but was because they were broke and couldn't afford typical sticks and bricks life. Now we got people who make good money, moving into their vans or $40,000 RVs, guving tours if their vehicles, showing fancy upgrades they've made, and using the YT platform as a means to either become popular and/or make money from.
    This van setup is very equipped and well done I have to say!
    Don't think when I move into my car, I will be giving tours any time soon because I'm doing this out of necessity and not adventure or pleaasure. Not that I won't enjoy some adventures along the way. Lol. Again, very well done!

    • @cheflifevanlife
      @cheflifevanlife  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, you're right. Portable Power stations combined with smaller cheaper solar panels changed the game. Not to mention car fridges, and stuff like that changed the game. If anyone comes up with legit air conditioners that only run on 40-50w you won't be able to keep people in sticks and bricks. Thanks for your comment, friend!

  • @rowdysgirlalways
    @rowdysgirlalways ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Dude! Basically, you have built a portable kitchen with a bed! I like it. Yeah, maybe it won't be shown in House Beautiful, but House Built for My Needs? Cover story!
    I approve of the solar set up, and you rock for doing it by yourself. The sink has its own shine of brilliance. Very clever and very low tech. Sometimes the best solutions don't require moon shot tech. Gravity can be your friend. I am so glad you installed rain guards, stealth ventilation is good. And window screens are easy to make to keep the bugs out. You didn't open the rear hatch, you don't make use of it? This is a useful build and you love it so that's all that matters. I didn't notice a smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector or a fire extinguisher. Just saying, because safety is important, especially if you cook inside. Well, I like it and that bed looks comfy.

    • @cheflifevanlife
      @cheflifevanlife  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Jane, I opened the hatch. The blackout curtain hides the back of my indoor kitchen that's on a counter I built. Which is the top half of the hatch area. Under the flip out counter, which is attached to the counter I built also part of my outdoor kitchen setup I'll show in another video) you see the bottom hatch space which contains my "truck junk" stuff. So yes I used my hatch to max. I showed and mentioned my fire extinguisher spray, and my carbon monoxide detector in the video. Also I'm not a dude, just a women who shaves her head. Thanks for all the kind words!

      @rowdysgirlalways ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cheflifevanlife then I'm an idiot who got distracted! But this is a great build!
      As to dudeing you, I am an equal opportunity duder. I dude everyone, regardless of gender and sexual orientation. Heck, I even dude my cats! (You had to know I was a crazy cat person.) I think shaved heads are cool, literally and figuratively, if one has a good head for it. I don't, though I have had my hair cut so short I get taken for a guy all the time. But that's cool, if it bothered me I'd wear more girlie clothes. Can't beat jeans and tee shirts for comfort. Now ima go watch your video again and try to figure out where my head was at.
      Okay, I watched it again. You went through the back so fast that I couldn't keep up. I'm used to van lifers going over every detail In Detail. But your interior rocks! I love the oven and microwave. I'd want at least a microwave and a hot pot if I went into van life. The last power outage proved to me that I won't survive the zombie apocalypse. I went out for coffee every day because I didn't have an emergency stove. I do now. And cats are great sources of heat. They think the same of me. Life is an adventure! Have fun on yours!

    Man you are living my dream. I’m planning on living in a minivan some day but for now I’m just going to enjoy the comfort of living with my parents and being around loved ones. I’m getting a job soon and gonna start planning out how to live like this so that by the time I’m out of high school I’ll be good. I might live with my mom or dad for just a year or two extra though cause ever since I was little they’ve both made it clear that they’d both individually have no problem with me staying with them. They’re both actually kinda against how socially unacceptable people think staying with your parents is. But hopefully one day I’ll be able to live like this. This is rad dude.

      And I love that this lifestyle is entirely customizable and will change from person to person.

      Living with your parent is smart. Save, save, save, save and stay out of debt and the world is yours, my friend. Personally I have no debt. When you drive away in your vanlife you'll be so much happier. By the way, you have some very cool parents. :)

      Two and even three (possibly even four) generations of family living together has always been the norm until recent history. The idea that you "have to" get your own place is something people dreamed up to sell real estate. You do you and be happy that you're parents aren't that ignorant. I am definitely NOT trying to talk you out of #vanlife, however!

      Get a cheap gym membership, or if you're going to be in the back country Amazon sells all kinds of inexpensive, or expensive outdoor showers. Another option is what @StaticCamperVan does. Don't let anything stop you from doing what you want, Jose. You got this.
