It’s disappointing Sunderdeep that you’ve forgotten your past and have started preaching contradictory to what you have followed. You’ve been crowing about VW Polo and that fact that it is this car which had opened your eyes to the wonders of German engineering and ignited the passion for cars and has also made into what you are today. VW Polo was your first car and at that time as well, there were many naysayers and lot of negativity surrounding VW and Skoda. Still you took a chance and look where it has brought you today. It’s unfortunate and cruel of you to deny or influence others who are sailing in the same boat as you were then. With great popularity comes greater responsibility and the responsibility includes the responsibility of not influencing when it is not needed and allowing people to take a chance. People don’t become car enthusiastss overnight. They also need some inspiration. Perhaps this Skoda can give them that passion for cars as it did for you. Why would you want to come in the way of that?
Even I feel the same. My first car is Skoda Kushaq 1.0 Manual. There is no problem like you suggest whether you are a 1st time buyer or vice versa. Have driven 31000 kms in 3 years. No problem with the car. Took the car in the 1st lot of manufacturing in Sep 2021. The driving experience is unmatched. I have driven Brezza, Creta, Nexon, Tiago. Nothing comes close to driving dynamics of a Skoda VW car. Maintenance cost is cheapest of them all. INR 16000 service pack for 4 years. All in all Skoda Kylaq is for everyone who wished to own a Skoda VW car in the mass segment. What an entry point for a brand looking to make inroads into the Indian market and one which is hotly contested by Maruti, Hyundai, Tata, and Mahindra. I wish Skoda Kylaq becomes the best car in this segment and helps Indian customers to appreciate what real driving pleasure is with unmatched active and passive safety features. Please refrain from such views that Skoda VW cars are not for 1st time buyers. Rest i appreciate your views in promoting safer cars for Indian customers, keep going.

First time buyer who atleast knows how to drive should definitely buy Kylaq as they need a more safer car due to their inexperience. A person who buys a car should anyways be prepared for some emergency repair expenses regardless of which brand they choose else they should not buy a car at all. Maruti’s clutch repair may be slightly cheaper but it’s also not free. Skoda’s spares are higher quality and have a longer life so it balances out slightly higher cost. To maintain a Skoda / VW is not as expensive as many people think and this fact must be spread as widely as possible.
True these cars are widely available as well in 2nd hand market due to part sharing with skoda, Audi and vw Maintenance is also cheap due to the once a year affair key is you have to find a german car specialist who knows these cars inside out
I didn't know driving even I don't have driving licence, but in 2023 starting i blindly went for skoda slavia 1L. I mark L mark, 2 months of initial driving and learning on skoda slavia i finally got driving licence from delhi. 2 years passed, 17k KM. Mostly long drive of 500Km, 1000km, patna to delhi and back two times, delhi to mussoorie, malani, rishikesh back. I felt no issues till date. Hope in future slavia will make me tension free. I'm middle class low income salary. Although I always afraid if any big problem occurs how will i pay for repair. 😢
@SunderdeepSingh Brother mne apni driving hi Vento 1.0 TSI nayi lekr seekhi thi. And I am very much satisfied that I bought this as my first car. Driven more than 45k kms in less than 2 yrs. Hars off to VW Skoda for offering such good driving dynamics.
Should i buy a used bmw 530d 2014 f10 lci as my first performance car( i already own different cars, looking for a performance car for myself) as thinking to stage 2 tune it.
I have Skoda Slavia Ambition Automatic. Should I go for a Skoda Kylaq automatic or manual as a second car? My average running is 8000 kms a year and daily running is 10/15 kms. Also I go on a road trip once a month.
I dont know driving and stay in Delhi. I plan to learn driving and then buy one of skoda or vw cars... i know its apples and orange comparison but I've learned things pretty fast. Be it bike or anything... can i go for virtus? Also i know automatic is the future but i think having a manual as first makes more sense so i can learn proper driving. So automatic out manual?
If people were having the problem of driving on half clutch at the speadbreakers or even at slow speeds then manual may create trouble COMPARED with Korean or Japanese cars. It is a fact. Same with Jeep Compass manual. Most of problems are coming with very sensitive clutch. SS's intention was to communicate the same. The danger is that in social media some times good intentions may be interpreted wrongly. So better to communicate the same in a technical video. Instead of advising not to buy it is better to help them buy with giving helpful technical advice. 1. Always use first gear on big speed breaks instead of using half clutch in second gear 2. In traffic keep the gear in neutral instead of using clutch 3. Always press the pedal completely for gear change 4. Accelerate only after depressing the clutch pedal completely etc etc Hope SS will make things clear in the detailed video. As a answer to the question asked, Kylaq can be the first car if the family is small(3-4). Ideal car for some one who has a special love for a 1.5 TSI. Also ideal car at the later half of life.
Take a test drive and then decide for yourself. I have a Kushaq manual. It’s easy to drive in city and a hoot to ride on highways. Automatic should be a no brainer. Go for it.
Sunderdeep sir, i was waiting for a product something like polo. Now its launched and i am thinking to buy as it is coming in my budget. I have driven cars but not that frequently and also not much experienced. But i can handle traffic and long drives with patience. Should i go for it or settle for something else.
Go ahead. A good driving dynamics car will make you a better driver in my opinion. It will turn the way you want, it will pull the way you want, and it will break where you want to. There is no half measure approach with these cars like other brands where they compromise on key things and focus on unwanted features.
Deep clutch in Skoda and VW which needs to be push all the way to down. If operated properly no issues with clutch plate. But someone is lazy and operates with half clutch then surely clutch plate will burn early.
Hi! AT is ok if you have some kind of experience with amt or AT. I believe this must be an unofficial booking because otherwise bookings are open next month.
@SunderdeepSingh I had went last month to book kushaq ,so waited for. Kylaq, and they called to book as early bird, and I might get some offers so I booked. i have no experience of AT or AMT..Please tell me , should I cancel or let it remain
Go ahead. I have a friend who has Kushaq 1.0 TC. He is all praises for the car. City mileage 8-9. Highway 17-18. With Kylaq having lesser weight, it will be even more Peppy and improved mileage.

It is about your attitude as a driver. I have seen new drivers who drive way better than people driving since years. An automatic transmission will be even better for a first owner. I don’t agree that your driving experience should decide which car you will buy
I think It will cannibalize the sales of kushaq and settle down to 2k units per month max after few months just like Elevate which was also launched with a single engine option
Honestly, with any bike or car, you can go for anything you rrally like, it might be slighly more or less ideal but id you have a decent head on your shoulders, youll be fine.
Just keep in mind, not to keep the car in drive mode in idle conditions and use the AT properly otherwise maintenance of TC will be heavy on your pockets.
Sunderdeep ji, in some of your recent videos it seems that you are feeling yourself under pressure to sound like a more neutral advisor in your preferences for car brands. While it is understandable but it seems you are over doing and contradicting yourself when you advise any other brand than VAG. I think you can stick to your stance of advocating VW’s qualities and superiority and that it is the number one choice in mass market segment for various reasons and yes you can also recommend other brands as second best or third best alternatives but never over a VAG. Its ok to be a fan for a reason.
Bro ! You are over exaggerating 😂. If the market thinks otherwise Skoda/VW can be out of Indian market very soon. If an OEM sells a product in the auto industry, any type of driver should be able to use it. This applies in every country. If new car buyers ignore Kylaq, you will become jobless as Germans have to shut shop in this country.😂😂
