To those afraid of a Hearse take a minute and think about this; NOBODY dies in a Hearse, they only carry those dead for a while. Now a retired ambulance on the other hand.....
I had a 75 M&M it was the most fun car I've ever driven. Take it to a car show in April your a freak take it to a show in Oct. and their lined up to get a pic with it.
The one car heated garage where our ambulance was housed had done so since the Easton (CT) Ambulance Association was formed in 1946. In the early 1980s when I was a volunteer, sometimes on a quiet night you could faintly hear an old rotary siren wailing up and down. Walked out of the building to see what was coming and no sound whatsoever. Wild.
I had an electrician buddy who used one of the hearses for his business. He loved the casket rack system for wheeling out all his tools at the job site. Worked great and brought him a lot of business.
I have owned a 1975 Cadillac Miller-Meteor and a 1985 Cadillac S & S Victoria. A funeral coach is the last of the hand-made cars. They are only built because they are ordered and paid for in advance. I had racing teams wanting to buy my 1975 because of that 500 CID engine is great for racing.
My wife and I used to have one of roughly the same year. Mine was a Fleetwood base crown superior coach. Finances didn't work out on it and we ended up selling the sweet ride. Really miss the rumble of that 472 cid monster under the hood. Hope this project turns out to be a keeper!
Someone has definitely been into the transmission. That style kickdown solenoid doesn’t use the metal shim gasket. If you look on the bottom side of the solenoid you will see a molded seal. Second, the filter has a seal that fits over the pickup tube. The Oring goes on the other end of the tube and seals against the case.
I used to watch these shows religiously on spike tv many years ago. I didn't know they were still making this awesome content. I got myself a bit of backlog now...
Going back to the TNN days, I can't even count the times I've seen these shows do that quicky transmission upgrade on screen. The valve & spring, the check balls, the plate drilling, WE KNOW 😁
I have a 93 Fleetwood S&S Hearse I converted it to carburation it had the L05 350 v8 with the 4l60 non E transmission. I did a roller cam and rockers, 200 cfm aluminum heads dual plane intake 10.3 to 1 pistons it giddy's up and go's now I'm happy.
Dad took us to Tweety Coach in Central Ohio about 1970. They took used hurses and cut the top off the back and installed cab over campers. Pretty cool.
The first ambulance I drove was a 1976 Miller Meteor on the same chassis. Car 100. Weighed 9000 pounds loaded and had the 500 CID engine. Smooth. Great for people with back injuries compared to a truck chassis. I was responding to a chest pain call driving up the state road. I looked and the speedometer said I was doing 110. Even driving sanely, you had to watch the brakes. They faded bad and on one occasion (coming home, not fast) the light changed and she was not going to stop, so I put it on the lawn to the right of the stopped traffic.
My family we own a 1973 Cadillac Hearse and is awesome it’s all intact the interior is in excellent condition it runs good and it’s fun to drive And see people’s reactions. My profile pic is the 73 Cadillac
Art Deco times ya it’s all original red interior the back is all intact all the light work and the only money that’s been put into it was new belts and tires
@@trentenfarmer4185 original tire or thick tire? I swear its a question not a demand of correct answer hehe. Oh I had thought your comment was before just now, golly really does seem like an interrogation now.
Boy, talk about outside the box. You guys crushed the box with this one. Time to pop some popcorn 🍿 this one is going to be interesting 😃. Tommy should do all of the restoration's. He's funny and knowledgeable.
I’m so glad there are quality shows remaining like you. Thanks for many weekend mornings. The complete build videos have become my favorite movies to match lately. What is the net calling satisfaction? ASMR or something? This is ASMR lol did I say it right?
As far as I know, they stopped using Caddy/Buick/Pontiac "wagons" as ambulances around 1970, and started using full size vans. That 3/4 ton and later 1 ton dually chassis was a lot stronger, and ya had more room for medics.
i'd love to see a blown 427 bbc /th400 with all the fixins a satin blk paint convo pros a cam that sounds like a popcorn machine and barks when you romp on it a new batesville casket in back with some killer 6x9 speakers in it playin golden earring
I almost bought an old Cadillac hearse in the 70’s when I was in high school. It needed a few parts so I started checking junkyards. They wanted more than the hearse was selling for and I passed on what would have been a money pit.
I will agree with you that to some, LIKE ME, the '68 - '70 Dodge Charger was the sexiest musclecar EVER, hands-down, all day long every day!!! I can't say that too many times LOL.
That's a bold statement with your username. Truth be told I like old VWs. My favorites are all pre 80 though, no offense to modern I just remember how fun the old ones can be.
I drove a 52 Cadillac hearse in high school with a three-on-the-tree and 36 inch glasspacks. Now I have a 69 Cadillac ambulance that came from the Ely State Prison in Nevada. Has a coffin in the back.
Side pipes are a must have! Air shocks too ;) I had a 67 Cadillac coupe deville, 429 10:1, Holley 850, b&m th400, side pipes , air shocks. Fun to drive. Mpg well 5 was all it got 😂 Only thing was the front of the side pipe could scrape sometimes.
Tommy, your a blast to watch!!!.. seriously, your funny man!! heheheh your humor is spot on!! Ive always been a funny man too, and enjoy comedies and pretty much see the fun side of anything and can enlighten any mood with laughter. You make this show amazing! KEEP up the good work too! :):):)
Make a nice camper. In the 1970s in the Army we had an Olds Ambulance that wasn't quick but would cruise 120 MPH all day, or until the gas tank ran dry.
I love long roofs, suburbans, long wheel base vans and station wagons as much as my 3rd Gen camaros and the 74-76 fleetwood and devilles are my fav yr caddies so im very pleased to see you choose a 76, to me a hearse is a station wagon. But yes many people won't drive or sit shotgun in one
Y'all need to chop the top 6 inches. Save ya gobs of weight and make the lines look a little smoother. "If it's a big body, I'm all about it." Not sure if he was talkin about the car or not.
The hearse is like a station wagon with lots of extra head room. I always wanted to build my own Caddy "El Camino" from a flower car; tubbed and a blown BB Chevy poking through the hood. Gosh, I wish I had money. Lol
This is awesome! I am building a 1978 cadillac miller-meteor hearse currently. Thanks for the tips! This motivates me! Lol I will be uploading to my channel soon.
People that have never had a Yank Tank. Don't realize how quick they really are. I bought a 69 olds 98 for the most. $200.00 got it safetied so I put it on the road. Used to kick out of passing gear at 90 mph. Took a parachute, anchor and brakes to SLOW IT DOWN.

@White Rider i would definitely consider that with a box type ambo. Ruggedly built.

I had a 75 for years I miss that hearse more than any other car I've ever had. That 500 ci can be a real beast.. Biggest motor ever produced.
In a production car after about 1940.
Nice drive . his non scripted commentary was natural and enjoyable TY I really enjoy this so far I'm at the drag strip now 7:50
MTS can bump that block to 520ci and have it make 640hp at the crank. Then it'll be making enough noise to wake the dead.
I'm curious to see how much weight they shed this is an awesome build!!
I've been wanting to build one of these for years l, gonna be watching with excitement

Curious if they had ambulances with same body style.....could be possible ghost buster flavor with a new white paint job and siren.
As far as I know, they stopped using Caddy/Buick/Pontiac "wagons" as ambulances around 1970, and started using full size vans. That 3/4 ton and later 1 ton dually chassis was a lot stronger, and ya had more room for medics.

Thanks for taking 15 min to get to the build, now I really wanna watch your channel
If I didn't know better (I don't), I'd swear that was sarcasm 😏.
I thought a hearse wasn't supposed to have a trailer hitch because you can't take it with you.
