it’s actually super useful, as a carry player i always watch them to both understand better what supports might do and because for example when he shows you these wards that are not so popular sometimes and your support does not deward them you can just do it yourself and know already the spots
Also as a carry player that sometimes get t4 Ninja Gear, these "secret" ward spots might come in handy in the late game. You're also far more survivable and can go on your own unlike a support who just get their ass blasted if spotted.
I would like to add to Zach's message that the purpose of the ward is as important, if not more so, than its placement. For instance, consider whether it's an offensive/gank ward or a defensive/anti-gank ward. How many objectives does it cover (runes, camps, TP locations)? Is it good for team fights, or is it primarily for scouting? Additionally, how likely is it to be dewarded? If you give each of your ward a different and distinct role, then, when you're in a game, you don't have to think over all the different possibilities; you already know exactly which one is the best according to game stage.

I started doing that in a custom lobby, and I documented so far about 200 custom ward/sentry placements and different strategies for vision placement. Just by upgrading that aspect of my game I climbed ~1k mmr in 1 month. I encourage you guys to do the same.
Great video as always bro. Just a tip regarding setting up the map. If you use demo terrain through the armoury you can eliminate half the commands you’re using through chat. Plus you can swap to different heroes to try different skills and facets easily without having to jump out of the custom game each time. Having the Demo Hero menu on the left side is a game changer for doing this sort of stuff, plus easy and constant access to the shop too :)
The absolute best place to ward on the ENTIRE GAME is the dire secret shop. There is the tiny peninsula on the hg with a few trees on the tip that gives Insane vision. Thank me later for all the courier kills 😀
What do you think of playing with the cavern terrain? At times I feel it makes all tree positions much clearer to see and play around, other times I feel like it's adding clutter. Not sure what to think
Very old tactic that easily gets forgotten because of information overload. I do this a lot while playing Beast Master or other heroes that cuts trees like NP.
God i hope people actually stop relentlessly feeding wards on cliffs because of this but i doubt it, its so frustraiting watching the other support buy wards off cooldown just to march straight to a cliff that has already been dewarded roughly a billion times, often getting killed in the process. One of my favorite early game wards is behind the camp nearest the radiant mid tower, if you cut a couple of trees it gives you a lot of vision behind the tier 1 and also gives you vision of the bottom rune :D
My favorite is when I put sentry obs on a cliff with just an enemy sentry. I then x ping it and yell in voice not to deward it. Lo and behold, my ward gets fed to the enemy 30 seconds later.
I dont really see how any amount of limiting tree cuts is going to quell suspicion when theyre just going to check your items and see a quelling blade anyway
You might have the Quelling Blade just to deal with a Nature's Prophet so it wouldn't be suspicious that you have it. Or you've taken Iron Talon as a farming item for a support so that wouldn't be too suspicious either
