    I love this because they are singing in a room , without microphones, they cant cheat, they do this with their voices, they are amazing

    The learning curve for folks who are not at all famiar with any form of Acapella is is very steep.
    And PTX is nothing like old style barbershop or basic choral stuff. They can create and perform almost anything as Acapella... They can be the necessary instruments. And their synch with each other is impeccable.

    It was fun to watch those again. Thanks for the reaction. Pentatonix grants a lot of wishes for sick kids and their families for Make-A-Wish Foundation. The private performance was for a young man and his family. If you ever watch the PTXperience videos you will see them with a lot of different kids and families over the years. It's heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. They are so sweet and adorable with the kids.

    I think it was Make A Wish backstage at a show. They partner with Make A Wish and do something special at their shows for small groups. I think this was one young man and his family.

    If I remember correctly the private preformance had something to do with the Make a Wish Foundation. They never do a song they can't do live. Made perfect sense😂.
    Love your reaction.

      It was a Make A Wish Foundation request. Most of the private performances you see that are not patreon pre-show events are Make A Wish if you look at the original clip description.

    As was already said, it was a Make A Wish performance... but they also do this type of performance for VIP ticket holders, so there are a couple different songs you can find these mic-less performances for.
    They staggered the release of the TikTok videos. I think it was one a day but there might have been more time between.
    *cough* As the person who requested Daft Punk and got you started on PTX I'd like to point out that I did give you the link to both the official video *and* this one and told you that a lot of reactors like to do both to see that they're really doing it a capella. Also reiterated in a comment on the Daft Punk reaction, I think. But glad you got to it eventually.

    Great suggestion Sara! These really showcase the fact that they can replicate what they do in their studio versions! Avi and Kevin really needed microphones so we could hear their amazing sounds, but it was supposed to be in true acapella form, I guess, so no mics. Another private performance that you will enjoy is their cover of the song Valentine. Here's the link! th-cam.com/video/ARRWlFndZkA/w-d-xo.html I would love to see your reaction! Thank you!

    Your “musings” take me back to my own beginnings with PTX…like many, I stumbled upon Hallelujah first. I didn’t really care about accappela…I just knew I liked their sound! By the time I got around to listening to Daft Punk Medly (didn’t watch it for a LONG time, as it wasn’t at all my type of music) I was fully aware of their capabilities. They have absolutely broadened my horizons in music (as well as life in general, lol)! I’m even a huge fan of 90’s Dance Music, which I pretty much dismissed in the actual 90’s…Now, I’ve pretty much come full circle. While I still appreciate their accappela abilities…I just don’t care, I LIKE THEM!!!

    The thing is, it's the sheer impossible nature of what you're hearing in the studio version that intrigues people who are unfamiliar with modern a capella and draws them in to hear more. What we heard here lets you know how good they are as a group but doesn't deliver the slap that the studio version, coupled with the incredible video delivers. It's the whole package that makes you want to hear what else they can do.
    I've seen a lot of reactors discover PTX and it usually starts with Hallelujah, another combination of video and arrangement that makes you sit up and take notice and establishes their vocal ability with a song that many people already know. It's not a coincidence that many Pentaholics then push Daft Punk or Bohemian Rhapsody in the comments because they show completely different aspects of their versatility. By then they've seen 'religious', techno and rock and their minds are open and their intrigue piqued about whatever is next. After that they're either hooked or they're not, although I personally haven't seen a reactor follow this route and then go "Meh, it's clever but it's not for me" because along the way they are discovering the talent of the individuals in the group.
    I'm curious, how does that compare with your experience?

    • @perfectkismet
      @perfectkismet 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree with you. I was actually the one who introduced Salvo to PTX. I found him doing Encanto song reactions and saw that he had a bunch of reactions to beatboxers so I asked for Daft Punk first, since Hallelujah isn't the best for Kevin and that was my transition 😆 I think Hallelujah is generally the best intro but I also really appreciate when people tailor requests to individual reactors, at least to start... because that both peaks interest and gets viewers a bit more variety.

    • @Russ_Keith
      @Russ_Keith 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@perfectkismet Good thinking. Of course my comment was a generalisation but if you know the reactor's taste it makes sense to let them see what they can do with a musical style they already enjoy. After that comes the surprise that we all experience when PTX makes us enjoy things we might never otherwise listen to or even actively avoid. Sauceydad is a good example of that.

    I realize this is recorded with lousy acoustics and probably on a phone, but I am always surprised at how little you hear of Avi’s bass. I don’t know if he holds back so as not to overwhelm the other singers, or what, but it’s almost inaudible. Still their timing is perfection!

    • @marykuettner752

      Most phones back then just didn't pick up deep bass that well.

      @@marykuettner752 And bass in general is not as loud as the other voices. Even with someone like Avi that can project well. It's basically just physics that Kirsties or Mitches sharp notes will travel and pick up better. Plus you need more power to project a bass note.

If you have not done so I think you're ready for the official video to Aha and then they live version in Singapore I think you might have done live version but I'm not sure and in the official video be sure to watch it too it's complete end. Also, watch Starships, it is a great video

    I actually always prefer for new PTX reactors to listen to this one directly after the Daft Punk studio performance so they can see how truly talented they are. often many are in disbelief that they could possibly sound anything close to their studio performance live, let alone on a cell phone recording in a small room with poor acoustics. but this is PTX we’re talking about. I loved your reaction, especially to the “harder, better, faster, stronger” section because imo they just kill that part. I can’t remember if you’ve done Starships yet but I think you’d love it ❤️

    As a singer if you know the song and lyrics you can just kind of harmonize with other singers. If you’re apart, face time is good for lyrics, vocals and bouncing off each other😊

    I don't think there is a studio version, the one with the make-up was done in a closet with $400. The editing was maybe done in a studio, I'm not sure.
