Good is good. I loved it when I was a kid and now can honestly say it is a timeless composition. If it were released today, it would be getting radio airplay (no doubt).
This is excellent. Thanks for the lesson. I 'member when I was about 9 years of age and this song released. When it came on the radio, everything would stop and someone always ran across the room to the volume knob and turned it up. Everyone instantly got on the floor and started dancing, whether it was in a garage while working on a car, hanging in the back yard, soaking up the summer sun or just hanging at a friends house. Those were most excellent times, late '70s. Since then, this particular bass line has been burned into my soul for eternity. Now, I'm learning to play it. Thanks again. This video is most helpful.
Disco was meant to be Funky, Get on Down and Get on Up. That's where your fingers take us on this playalong. Thanks for sharing an old teenage memory of mine!
I really like your version! Sounds like the original. Newbie here and this is a new song I'm now learning and I would really appreciate the tab for this song if that's possible. Thanks
I have always admired the bassline on this song and that this is a protest song in its own way, stemming from a show they did when they were treated like shit by the Airmen at an Air Force base they played at. They should have known better, but if they didn’t, we wouldn’t have this gem. So yeah…fuck ‘em!
Soooooooooooooooooppperrrrrrr !! Man you can sure pick songs with great bass lines ---don't know if you have done or can do the bass for a song called 'Shame' by Evelyn Champagne. You rock big cheese !! PEACE !!!
Perry Kibble - composed the music (and the bass line) and co-produced with the Mizell Brothers (for Capitol Records). Janice wrote the lyrics. Perry taught Hazel and Janice the guitar and bass respectively. He can be seen playing the piano at the Grammy's (Best New Artist). Capitol Records didn't put him or the drummer, Don Johnson on the cover as they wanted to capitalize on the girls' playing and singing. But were put on the cover in subsequent albums.
Hey good job on that song. I know it's been a few years now since u played it , but if u could send me that ending part .. U play it up and down the neck... It stars on. Open A, C,,C#D.. A,G#G part.. Thanks..
Young Choe now 3 possibilities: new shirt, ironed, or folded fresh out of the dryer. My bad for jumping on the new shirt theory so willingly like a FOX news fan
Spot on, I’m listening to this in my car and sounds like the original
the best bassline in all history of music
Good is good. I loved it when I was a kid and now can honestly say it is a timeless composition. If it were released today, it would be getting radio airplay (no doubt).
Everything from the drum, guitar, bass, and vocals. This song is would be an instant hit or at the very least a well recognized tune.
This track, along with most of Duran Duran's catalog caused me to buy a bass.
XxLovefistxX yeah, after Average White Band (BOTH had GREAT drummers!), not at all bad for some white boys, lol...
This is excellent. Thanks for the lesson.

If you're thinking you're too cool to grab octaves, boy have i got news for you!
Have you taken that polo shirt out the packet? Anyway great bass line.
dasbear10 only women wash new clothes -- never understood that -- more chance for germs from eating out
dasbear10 Hahaha, both of you are funny. I am a guy. Great line, wonderful playing. Maybe the guy folded the shirt AFTER washing it.

tommy m ha, "Ironed" is out, we don't iron like that do we? I think he needs a wife. Is he playing a Yamaha bass?
