Southwest US native speaker, Texas area. I always enjoy your videos and they give me another perspective on the language, and insight on how people are learning it. Another way to say "nice to meet you" (at least in my neck of the woods) when first being introduced to someone is so say "It's good to know you."
On "look what the cat dragged in": like many American slang / idioms, it is a very contextual phrase. it's almost always only used with family and close friends. It's not an everyday phrase and it's not one I'd recommend.
it can range from friendly as in I've not seen this person in a long time and they show up unexpectedly,
to semi annoyance for someone you know but don't necessarily like when they, too, show unexpectedly,
to very annoyed and/or angry at someone who disappeared unexpectedly and then comes strolling back with no explanation and acting as if nothing is wrong. The length of time determines how annoyed to angry the phrase signifies and the level of sarcasm to put into the inflection.
In that last example it might also be a way to signal that displeasure to a group as a whole by making the comment to the people around you and not directly at the person as they enter an area,
and can also mean (as another commenter said earlier) "I don't want to see you, please go away as soon a possible and never darken my door again." but in my own experience it's rarely ever that hostile. That would be one of the rare cases where it's not really used with friends, but rather casual acquaintances or estranged family.

Another American here. You sound like you're from New Hampshire. My American English is more of a southern style. On the west side of the Mississippi River the southern dialect is very different from the eastern southern dialect sounds like. There is a difference what words to use in many regions of the America.
You often hear "I'm happy to see you." Or, "It's nice to see you." Instead of "nice to meet you."
The phrase "Look at what the cat dragged in" is not cordial. In a way you're implying that if that visitor didn't walk in the door for another ten years it would be even better. Where I live a cat sometimes drags in a dead rat. Funny thing is when a cat gives you a dead rat. The cat is actually giving you a gift of appreciation. A gift nobody wants.
