    Here is a progression that vaulters from the early days of fiberglas poles were faced with (Cornelius Warmerdam notwithstanding!) -I was a pole vaulter from the 60s at Lehigh, and having started in 8th grade in Pittsburgh, PA chilly temps most often with bad weather, with poles made of bamboo, then Swedish steel, aluminum and finally fiberglas (Browning Siliflex), and.. landing pits-landing in fairly flat sawdust pits, in which you had to pitch fork the material into a pile to land more softly, then foam pieces in saw dust, then graduating to foam in a net, then in college, netted foam, air bags, then finally pits with aprons, and.. standards with wings. I am so enjoying watching Mondo's progression and fearless attitude toward height progression. Fantastic young man! Stay healthy, keep your head on straight and vault toward the sun!!! Congratulations!!! Al Banes

    The future of pole vaulting is going to be insane! So many talented, young pole vaulters right now. Armand Duplantis, Pål Haugen Lillefosse, Emmanouil Karalis, Sasha Zhoya, Matvey Volkov, Sondre Guttormsen, and Simen Guttormsen. The face-offs are gonna be fantastic!

      Georg Horine...Mondo first tried pole vaulting as a four-year-old at the family's home in Lafayette, Louisiana, and took to the event rapidly. His father was a former Pole Vaulter, both his older brothers were Pole Vaulters, but one of the brothers gave up Pole Vaulting, in high school, for Baseball ⚾️ Even his younger sister is a Pole Vaulter.

    In what Universe do you keep world records in feet and inches?
    In particular in respect to a Swedish athlete -- Sweden like most civilized countries went metric more than a century ago.
    Are you going to keep 6.18 in feet and inches the new world record? DUH!

    As far as I know, I jumped ±10 feet (the roof of my home) at 10 years old with a bamboo pole, running 30 feet. With no spikes (bare foot), no pit, landing on the grass. No training, one day I went to the river in Puerto Rico, and cut a bamboo and brought to home. No witness, no photo, or video and no trainer. I used to play baseball and basketball occasionally. At the university I jumped 15’6” because I borrowed a pole from my friend. I started to train in my second semester of my second year. I used to have only two old Cata Pole poles, that’s all. ;)

    • @puntocom1834
      @puntocom1834 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also I jumped 11'6" feet, with only one step and the pole in the hole at the university. ;)
