The best ever VIdeo/Podcast on What to play next and Music Management. Which has been my only question to every artist that I met. I am greatfull that you have put this out here for free which is a gold mine of information which I guess no money can buy. Thank you so much for streaming this. Much love team.❤
What a wonderfully real interview. This guy speaks straight from the heart and makes so much sense. I've always liked him as an artist, but now I have all this newfound respect for the person that he is.
So much of what he said hit home for me. What a class act DVS1 is. This interview just reinspired me because a lot of what he said about Minneapolis is the same thing here in Denver. Don't rely on other people to pursue your dreams! Do it youself!!
I miss vital vinyl. It was my goto record store. Now it's gramaphone because, in the midwest ,there just aren't that many dj vinyl record stores with house, techno, breaks, drum n bass and all the sub genres of each of those. I only had the pleasure of seeing zack play twice in mpls back in the day and meeting him once briefly. Great guy!
Very good interview. DVS1 had come across as humble and understanding of knowing DJing as an art form and expresses in a down to earth way. Recommended!
What hes saying is what I always though was what a DJs was striving for.. Everything he says is 100% true to me.. What he says about timeless music is spot on. I just had a person (1 year ago) come up to me because he wanted to be a DJ, he had a lot of music, good music, in spesific generes though. We talked a lot about what it takes to be a DJ and he was motivated... after a couple of gigs he didnt want to be a DJ anymore. It turned out that hes impression of being a DJ was to do 1 hr producer sets, like they do on the TH-cam, and he couldnt manage playng 4,5 hr sets changing styles of music.. lesson here was that many people dont know what work DJs who spend 100% of their time DJing put in. If you want to produce you have less time curating youre playlists, listening to music, buying music, deleting music, spend hrs on hrs on the decks at home and so on
this guy is awesome. i already respected him for the sets i saw him perform, now i respect him as a person. so many good ideals, and i gotta say, i love how he does stuff "On the fly". you gotta feel it man!! alright!!
Im still @ 30min but this is one of the most inspiring talk i've seen. This motivated me to keep pursuing my dream, thank you, i hope to someday meet you on the backstage of a show.
@@hmhm-wi7ju he makes a good job of concealing his non-techno sets then. thanks, I'd rather go to local freeparties where DJs play all genres without pretense oozing out of them
Fair. Came off as aggressive, my apologies. Also he does a good job of concealing many sets. There aren't a lot of recordings, and he also mentions in this interview that he is happy with people not knowing his tacks.
A hell of what you say is brilliant DVS1.........but the relooping and sampling......I cant subscribe to. DJing is DJing not programming!!!! Multiple decks ONLY!

Rahul Shankar also DVS1 - evolve might possibly be the best song ever
This man's humility is inspiring.
that feeling when you turn up wearing the same hat as your interviewee
Man DVS1 melts the room he plays in. Top 10 all time
Simply genius

Feel Ya
This is the best interview for an Artist like Zak. Thank you so much for this gem.
so much knowledge
Great interview. Telling the artist or label instead of giving the full id move is just class.
Giving people what they need not what they want
zak is the most teaching person in the scene to me! most of love for you zak
never gets old. thank you for another masterclass
I loved when he said about how do I get to that track. That’s a DJ
Very cool! Thanks Zach & Slam Academy ;)
Talks loads of sense. Had no idea that Borrowed Identity and Asok were on his label. Shout out from a veteran of the late 80s acid scene Manchester UK

Such as life

Great interview . Amazing attitude towards his career!
really enjoying this - Zak you're a legend
1:13:03 sure that's I Wanna Go Bang he's talkin about. Amazing talk
dinosaur l did nothing to deserve that "remix"
Awesome message all the way. Thanks for sharing such private information
🖤
Damn, great video!!!
so so sick
would be nice to know which version of rekordbox he's on :)
How are they wearing the same hat?
I wanna reassure the interviewer that we understood that every topic has been already discussed with the class previously 😅
...Zak getting it in.. one love.
this is the bible of DJing!
if you google the top DJs... you get people you would *never* want to listen to. I find that so odd. Thankfully we have DVS1
the real shhh.
What's with the matching hats?
i wonder if the presenter gifted or received the hat
:)))
it looks like his right eye is kinda bruised. did he get into a fight before this??
12:20 kinda rich for Zack to talk about genre diversity when all he ever plays is techno
Kinda rich for you to not understand he's booked for that and he doesn't get a lot of recorded sets.
Educate yourself, dekmantel 186.
