I knew a girl many years ago who would work for a forestry company and plant pine trees. She and some other people would be dropped off at a clearcut area deep in the forest. They'd set up tents and spend each day planting seedlings. They were paid about .15 cents for each seedling planted and the boss could tell if they were all planted and not discarded somewhere. She did this every summer until she got married. Strange thing about that girl...she never wore shoes. Even in the winter she went barefoot. She was a hard core "tree hugger" and a vegan. During the winter she worked as a waitress in a bar where I was the bartender. I was having problems with mice getting into the snacks (chips, peanuts, etc)so I put out some traps. She came in one morning and found my traps and a mouse was in one. After chewing me out and raising hell, she quit the job and I never saw her again. Weird girl.
this footage is stolen especially the last part when teh black guy is pruning the pine tree, I saw the same video on growing Pine Plantations for lumber
Definitely. He is pruning what seems to be Pinus elliottii and it does appear to be a South African video (I've been in the SA forestry industry for over 10 years now). Pine nuts are typically produced from P. cembroides, P. edulis, P. pinea and P. koraiensis and have seen both P. Pinea and P. cembroides being shown in this video.
Depends, what do you see as a forest and what do you see as a plantation? Has most of europe's forests not been harvested already and replaced with planted trees even if those trees are not planted in rows?
Part of this video is kind of pointless when they show the farmers planting the seeds and harvesting the little trees those trees ain't going to produce nuts until they're huge trees what they're doing is probably selling these trees they have nothing to do with making pine nut candy not until like 20 years down the road. It's kind of pointless to even show this
Ahh yes. The entitlement of the ignorate. We gave you access to information, and a platform to be heard from.... You use neither for their intended purpose.
I profited on your comment. I proceded to use that profit to buy pine nuts. Now I'm sad i lost my profit and somebody turned the internet into a profit.

Such a great video! Learning about where my favorite produce comes from is awesome.

is she currently a New York State Representative?
Did she waitress barefoot also?
@@onetwocue Yes she did. It was just a small town country beer bar and we didn't serve food, so no one cared.

Hope she doesn't have worms
I always wondered how they gathered and got all those pine nuts I've never had candy made with pine nuts in it fascinating
Pine Nut is probably the most expensive nut for the same weight out there on the market.
Good information for me thanks 👍
How did they separate the fruit from the cone?
The cones would most probably get dried which makes them open up, then placed in a tumbler to extract the seeds. That's how we do it anyway.
Это в России , в Сибири. На этикетке написано по-русски: "Кедровое масло"!
Thank you, I just assumed it was pine nut oil and I had never heard of that. Cedar oil makes more sense. Appreciate the translation. God bless!😊
Acho que aqui no Brasil também tem esse pinhão. Na região Sul.
Pine nuts in the shell remind me visually of coffee beans.
👍 i get mine from New Mexico. Raw or roasted. Love them
I need some in shell raw pine nuts for my native american art...do you sell
BEAUTIFUL. VIDEO
I planted trees in Washington state in the 70s by hand and hoedag. 1 or 2 cents a tree.

They store well.

Destroying a forest to plant trees...
Thats the paradox of susatinability
You probably believe forest fires are bad too...
@@ShainAndrews Nope, but I don't know regarding plantation fires... 🤔
Destruction is not the same as harvesting. If you do not believe that move out of your stick built house.

So sad….turning nature into profit. I don’t think I can ever buy or enjoy pine nuts again….and I used to love them.
what the fuck do you thing salad is then?
You used to buy pine nuts without realizing you were helping someone turn nature into profit?
