Who could not enjoy joining you on this run?! Such a treat to see family traditions being established in real time. As for future video content, I'd welcome seeing more about your techniques for handling food prep and the basics of staying aboard for multiple nights.
Great video ! Scenery looked like our Finnish Argipelago. I just order my Axopar 28...Can´t wait for the summer. Thanks again for a awesome video. Jim from Finland
Great video Ben. We are looking forward to more Downeast adventures this season in our 37XC. Amazing how much you can see in a short time aboard the Axopar.
Thank you Ben for sharing you short trip with your family on the Axopar 28 and show us de beautiful surroundings with captain Pipa, Firstmate Caroline and Deckhand Ben what a show thanks again
I have been boating before, my first new boat was a 20 ft Sea Ray inboard and had a blast for about 7 years at our beach house in Westbrook CT. Sold the boat and beach house about 15 years ago and looking to get back into boating again and retiring down in Old Saybrook CT one day soon. I love the Axopar 28 and think it will be my next boat, since you have one for your family and I admire your boating videos from east coast yacht sales. This was a great video and smooth boating, lots of fun! Great Video, Great Boat, Great Family, nice job Ben!
Hey Ben, had to drop a comment. Been watching your reviews for some time now. Really hope you start doing more videos like this be them here in Maine or Southern New England. I run a 23’ Maritime around Casco Bay and really enjoyed this kind of “extended family test drive.” Super helpful to see the cruising benefits of your 28, and the exploration options here in New England. More please!
I boat on Cape Cod waters where lately finding 2-3’ + seas often and I am super impressed with this boat & Saxdor (IMO similar design), I’m not crazy over the look of the ones with enclosed cabins but staying dry may sway my decision. Great video!
The great thing about the enclosed cabins is extending your season and obviously staying dry but it all depends on how you want to use your boat! Thanks for watching!
Great video. The Axopar 29 looks even better, do you think the higher price is worth though ? I can get a good equipped 28 cross cabin in Europe for 130k-150k....
Thank you for this video, we are a family of 4 and have spent a few weekends sleeping on the boat (28 AC) ourselves. Please tell us how you installed the aft awning, are those fishing rod holders?
Glad you enjoyed the video! Yes there are two fishing rod holders installed aft of the lockers and two telescope beam carbon poles to support the canvas.
Nice video. We are considering this vessel. But would have to have twins, I will never do a single again. Wondering why you chose a single? Luckily our last boat had a single kicker to get us home when needed. Very slowly. Plus maneuverability with a twin is so much easier. But we all have our own personal choices:-)
@@EastCoastYachtSales @EastCoastYachtSales cool, thanks for replying. I have often wondered what to do when approaching a random island since the anchor is in the front of the boat. Maybe this is a good idea, easy to attach and bring with me so the family can approach the island safely without risking damage to the boat.
Great video Ben. I noticed your trim indicator read 0 during the entire trip. Did you have Active Trim turned "ON"? If so, what level was your preset? I really enjoyed seeing how the boat performed in various sea conditions. These videos are very helpful & I hope you continue to make more.
Tom, thanks for the comment and for watching our videos! I don’t find the active trim helpful on the Axopars. I’ve never driven a boat that requires so little adjustment while underway or when transitioning from displacement mode to planing. Unless you’re looking to go WOT, I don’t find you get any measurable benefit from trimming the engine up. Let the hull do the work and have fun.
Awesome video! Am looking forward to cruising in mine next summer! Ben - may I ask, is that roof rack setup there aftermarket? I just recently purchased a 2020 28 and it doesn’t have any racks. Appreciate your insight!
Hey Ryan. Do you have the stainless targa arch with hand rails running forward on the hardtop? If so I would get the Yakima rails, I believe it’s their Timberline system that would work on the stainless rails. Other than that, I hope you make it to Maine and can enjoy the coastline as much as we have!
@@EastCoastYachtSales Thanks for the info! No, my 28 Cabin doesn’t have the side hand rails either. That’s why I was curious as to yours as it looked like it mounted directly to the fiberglass top.
Wow, what a beautiful family adventure! You make it look so fun and easy Ben. I saw you have a solar panel and want to know if you can comment on the watts and what you set it up to charge for. I hoped to get a roof panel on the 28 Cabin I ordered for '22, but it seems only the 37s have that as an option. Cheers!
Thanks for watching! I installed a solar panel to keep the house battery charged up while on a mooring. It’s a 54watt panel and it’s only real purpose is to maintain the charge of the batteries.
How did this trip go on gas. I believe this boat is about 70 gal tank Just checking if that tank went quick at your cruising speed ? Great video and encouragement to get outside !
When we left we topped off the tank and the day we went home we topped off again. We average about 2nm/gal so it’s east to calculate how much you’re going to burn if you know how long you’re trip is. 100nm trip is 50gal.
There is no wrong answer in the single or twin discussion for a 28 axopar. The simplicity of a single engine while still being able to cruise over 30 knots and getting over 2 nm/gal is a win in my book.
Very cool. How do you deal with winterizing the head? Is it still usable when outside temps drop in the 30s? Do you just store the boat indoors? Thanks!
Thoughtful question. What we do is winterize the freshwater system and keep a gallon of nontoxic antifreeze in the head when flushing. That way we never need to worry about a long stretch of extra cold weather.
Great video! What horsepower engine does your 28 have? Is it possible to leave the boat in the water during freezing temps? I am in VA and am concerned if the boat was not on a lift the engine might not drain all of the water out. Is this a legitimate concern? How many mph did you lose when you bottom painted yours?
Got the 300 V8. It is possible to leave to boat in the water during freezing temperatures you just have to remember to leave the engine trimmed down. If the engine is trimmed down on a lift then the water should all run out. Nearly all the boats we sell have bottom paint, so we don't have accurate data on the boat without bottom paint.
Awesome video! We were up on Mt Desert Island with our 30' Fifth Wheel, the land version of an Axopar 28, in early October and the weather was fabulous. I would love to cruise Downeast Maine in an Axopar or maybe a Hinckley. Thanks - Kurt in AZ

Sweet boat .... Thanks
No problem 👍

Excited to hear you’re planning to get out on the water soon. The Axopar is certainly a great boating adventure tool!
Thank you Ben and I love your little trip and family. You are a lucky man!

Impressive in the larger seas for a sub 30ft boat.
Thanks for sharing…. That was awesome!!
Thanks for your comment!
Excellent. What year 28 is this?
Great video
Thank you! More to come.

Twins are a great option!
Great video, thanks. Could I ask what those cup holder inserts are and where you got them, please? Thank you.
Of course! It's the Seven Sparta Expander cup holder adapter. Thanks for watching the video!
What size is the smaller boat you have on the roof? How did you attached it/locked it in place in order to drive at speeds around 30-35 kts?
It’s an 8.5’ inflatable with inflatable floor. Ratchet straps work great for the tie downs

Considering the 28 Cabin for similar use in MA - have you guys figured out shower options ? Using the fresh water on deck or down in the head ?
Yes, you can get an aft shower head as an option! It's typically located in the aft storage lockers.
Just curious why you would you go with a single verse a twin? I'd have to go twin for sure.

No need for a gyro on board.
