Only just started watching but I’m super pumped to see this! Back in 2013 I hiked to the Into the Wild bus which was right around where you’re hiking (until they removed it!)
They have thankfully removed it a few years ago, and it's on public display in Fairbanks now! I actually called it out on the hike but hadn't realized my battery had just died and the camera was off so it's not in the video. I had changed a beep setting and it took a couple of errors for me to realize it.
Wow, what an awesome journey! The scenery out there is just unbelievable. I really appreciate your commentary and your amazing footage, can't wait for the next one! By the way, I believe the thrush singing at 55:38 is actually a Hermit Thrush, they sound similar to Swainson's Thrush but the song is generally higher pitched a begins with a steady note.
Two corrections probably nobody is worried about: The birdsong was a Hermit Thrush (Catharus guttatus), less common than the species I guessed and didn't verify well enough. And these are Green Alders (Alnus alnobetula) - sometimes called Sitka Alders in the region, not Mountain/Gray Alders. I won't call out the source I got that ID from but they should have known better. ;) They're also widespread across the northern hemisphere, so any Geoguessr players might notice them as familiar!
Alaskan alder-schwacking is the lamest...haha. One helluva adventure you have here, I just subscribed to make sure I follow along!
Thanks to you i see this wonderful landscape, and can dream of being there. Thanks and greetings from Germany from a Beton Jungle City!
very cool trip!
Some good back scratching to be had there for the sheep 🐑🪨
This was such a joy to watch. The vibe, the story telling and the nature shots. An easy subscribe for me. Looking forward to the next video.
Thank you! It should only get better from here. :)
Our lad geowizards legendary concept has transcended the uk. Get in!
Good luck from the midlands.
13 minutes in and the quality here is insane! Planet Earth footage! Can tell this was a passion project. Hope geowizard sees it one day!
Crossing public lands and interesting terrain like this is absolutely the best analogue for Americans.
The name of your "tour group" made me LOL.

Thanks! Swainson's is much more common there and I didn't check well enough.
So you're saying geowozard needs a new camera to imitate even a fraction of your power? Beautiful shots. Where's Attenborough?
