How can you prepare for the personal interview? What are the things one should keep in mind? How can you crack the personal interview?
Here is a live demo interview taken by Gen VPS Bhakuni who has been a highly experienced Interviewing Officer and is a leading expert who has been the Commandant and President of the Services Selection Centre South, till very recently. Thousands of candidates of Army, Navy and Air-Force have gone through the selection process when he was at the helm of affairs at SSB Bangalore.
This is great chance to get to see how the interview is carried out. In Part 2 of this video we will be analysing this interview so stay tuned.
Major General VPS Bhakuni, VSM, was commissioned into the Dogra Regiment in 1981. He has rendered distinguished service of 37 years in the Armed Forces. The General Officer has participated in various operations including Counter Insurgency operations viz., Operation Pawan (Sri Lanka-IPKF), Operation Rakshak and Operation Parakram in Jammu & Kashmir. The General Officer has performed the duties of Colonel General Staff (Operations) of a Corps in Western Theatre and MGGS (Info Sys) and Chief of Staff of prestigious 15 Corps in Srinagar when Kashmir was under floods in Sep 2015. The General Officer assumed the responsibility of Commandant, Selection Centre South in Jan 2016 which is tasked to select officers for Army, Navy and Air Force till his retirement in June 2018.
The General was invited recently to the SSB Sure Shot Academy to address aspirants of the Armed Forces where he won the hearts and minds of the candidates.

@@kjlands176 yes, they can. But at the same time, it doesn't guarantee you selection.
Love the attitude which is shown by Maj Gen. He makes candidates feel homely and comfortable, and doesn't seems to be arrogant at all!! And obviously Maj Gen. Is a good speaker, cause he listens calmly to the other speaker!!
Such attitude and personality personifies about the person itself!

This is not easy to speak infront of senior officers during the personal interview, but if you true than everything is possible.

You had given me many points to work upon through this...
For example...
1.Now the place where you are living...
2.Must have a good knowledge of physical and political map of India as you are going to serve in defence...
3.must have a very strong Reason to join as a officer in armed forces...
4.Be honest towards your answers don't try to mingle up things and present blurred answer with no sense...
5.Don't try to impress with a fake quality which you would be going to contradict yourself...

I think this candidate wouldn't have been so nervous if he was not being recorded.... May be if the camera wasn't there......
It would have been a whole different story
The things I observed from this interview are
1. He is nervous throughout the interview
2. He is rushing to answer because of which he missed out the details in the questions asked.
3. I felt that he could have told don't know or could have take a second to think before answering.
4. He must be more aware of his weaknesses. He told his strength was mingling well wid the group and weakness as his rigid nature.
5. He must be aware of middle Eastern countries as they are mostly in news time and again.
It is appearing that all the answers had crammed already before.
If they asked these types of question it's good I am motivated and I feel confident

This interviewer looks like an angel but actually an strict person
I though that the ssb interview was very difficult. but after watching this vedio it is not too difficult..sir asking common questions..
Trust me it is very difficult. My father cleared the ssb with pure luck and some of my father's friends who were much more intelligent than him failed many times and this was in 1991 so imagine now it will be much harder than before.
