@@JasmineReads I’m enjoying it! It’s not my usual type of read, so I surprised myself. Now, it definitely has some dark themes so readers beware 🙁. But it also has humor and tender moments, as well. So far so good!
loved this jasmine!! can't believe Tomorrow & Tomorrow & Tomorrow didn't make it on... everyone absolutely loves it!!! very shocked. Will definitely be giving some of the International Booker books a go, have got so many to get through that I already own first though!! xx
I don’t know what the criteria is for the prize, but Foster was published years ago. It just got a boost this year because The Quiet Girl (based on Foster), got Oscar nominated for Best International Feature. So maybe that’s a reason? I do love Claire Keegan’s writing though. The film is worth watching!
I love the WPFF, but I definitely feel like this year the front runners are waaaaay ahead of the rest of the pack. It could be that it's because I've only read 7 so far, but O'Farrell, Haynes, and Kingsolver are just miles ahead for me. Curious to see what the shortlist will be, I'll very likely read it if I can get the books. That seems to be the biggest obstacle for me. Release dates and accessibility to a lot of the prize books are a problem I face often in Canada. They just aren't available here until after the winner announcement or so close to the announcement that you can't get them read in time.
I'm following the Women's Prize this year. I have read Glory, I'm a Fan, Pod and Demon Copperhead. Waiting for the rest to come to my library ☺ Out of these four, Demon Copperhead is miles ahead imo and I feel I might even be rooting for it to win. I love it SO MUCH. We'll see with the other books, but I'd say I'm not excited by the majority of the list.
Ooh good effort! I'm hearing the same thing everywhere about Demon Copperhead. Definitely my priority on the list. Hoping I love it as much as everyone else does 😍
I started The bandit queens and i enjoy it, but i will not pick up any of the other books on this lists. I pick up Blacklist books like The Goldfish, and classics like Oblomov. Nothing interest me this year on this lists, unfortunately.
I’m currently reading Stone Blind and will definitely pick up Marriage Portrait. Thx as always!
Oooh how is Stone Blind? I'm intrigued to see how I find Natalie Haynes. Thank you for watching! x

I know right?! I can't believe it haha. The IB list definitely excites me more! Happy reading x
I finished The Bandit Queens yesterday and I really loved it and there were at least a couple of laugh out loud moments in there
Ooh that's good to hear! Maybe I'll get round to it soon ☺️
'Boulder' sounds good... will have to try and read it at some point.
It's stunning! 😍

Foster isn't actually on the list, it's just one I mentioned - I didn't realise it was published years ago though! I will have to check the film out!

Yes, I agree! I'm hearing the same thing everywhere. I need to get on the Kingsolver! That's such a shame about the access to books x

Interesting! The lists don't seem to be appealing to too many people this year. I really want to read Oblomov!
@@JasmineReads is a fun read, i did not know how readable it is
I really want to say the IB is great, but so many of the 13 are flops 😂
Oooooh interesting 👀 Are there any you would recommend?
@@JasmineReads The Birthday Party and Whale have been amazing.
