Tony’s band was one of the first band remotes I worked during the time I was in broadcasting (mid-1946 through mid-1958). The Clooney Sisters were the female vocalists; sat together out in front of the band.
My father was a remote recording engineer with Columbia, NYC .Did you feed live from the locations nightly? he told me how the engineers would travel via subway from location to location with a portable mixer and mics, plug into landlines to feed out.He also worked at their 30th St. studio. Great sound and memories!
@@frankbruno9499 We did band remotes about once or twice a month, depending upon when the university had dances. They were always from the same location, which had a permanent program line directly back to the studios. The remote amp (usually Collins 12Z), mics (usually RCA 77Cs), cables, and mic stands were all returned to studios after each broadcast. I had master control tape record a number of broadcasts, but alas, used the same tape over and over, so I have only the final recording (Ralph Flanagan Dec 1950). Scotch Tape was five bucks a reel, and my pay was just $1.25 an hour, so multiple tapes were beyond my budget.
Bottom line tony pastor was most definitely one of the masters of the big band I know he worked with all the top notch players buddy rich Artie Shaw always admired him if you have any gene Krupa or buddy rich remotes I would like to hear them
When I was a teenager looking forward to dance at my hometown club in São Paulo countryside, I used to enjoy Tony Pastor 's big band. I love it, the best, "In the sunny side..." Great, now almost with 80 old, I still hear it with the same soul.

Great music! Rosemary Clooney sang with this band when she was just starting out. Thank you for posting!
Glad you enjoyed it.
It was the Clooney sisters with Rosie and Betty.
@@timothymorgereth1438 Yes, that's true. Thank you!
Very well done. I had never heard of this orchestra before. Thanks for sharing.
Tony Pastor played with Artie Shaw before he went off on his own in the early 1940's. Glad you enjoyed it.
Tony Pastor started out playing tenor sax and singing with the Artie Shaw band. When Artie gave up his band in 1939, Tony took over as leader.
Essas são musicas para quem tem ouvido, e esses tem bom gosto.
As musicas de hoje em dia são para quem não tem bom gosto.
Very nice and unpretentious.
🤍I THINK TONY PASTOR USE TO PLAY WITH ARTIE SHAWS BAND..HE WOULD SING & PLAY THE HORN.
Yes, Tony played tenor and sang with Artie Shaw. His is the sax solo on the famous "Begin the Beguine." Les Burness, too, had played with Shaw.
He had a vocal or two, yes. Rosalie and My Heart Stood Still, Indian Love Call as well.
