A wonderful chat my’ol mate 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😊Got a tin of the Artisan Blend …thanks for the heads-up😊👍👍 BC is a great French made in St. Claude….a quality pipe….Matches 860..had at least one and said one the best in his collection 😊😉💨💨💨
I’ll be anxious to get your thoughts on the blend when you have the chance to try it! I can see where it has the bones of quality leaf to be really good… I just got an unfortunate tin that lost its seal. I’ll eventually grab another tin to compare with. And yes, all of my BC pipes smoke great - especially this one - so nice and easy 🤌🏼💨 Cheers mate!
Thanks for stopping by Pilgrim! I had high hopes, but bummed about this tin. I will certainly give it another shot because I have heard so many great things about it!

Hey Jon! Thanks for the stopping by and for the sub! Great to meet you on Mike's (Old Man Things) live earlier this week. And yes- great to see another Nashville area pipe smoker! Are you going to make it down to the Muletown show next month? Should be a great event!
I love Artisans Blend! As well as other favorites of mine, C&D Sunset Harbour, GL Pease Quiet Nights, Peretti D-7485 and Seattle Pipe Clube Mississippi River
Thank you Jacques! I'm really enjoying most of these English blends right now - but I am starting to notice some similarities between them!? So far, not much to differentiate one from the others...
Hiyas Donnie, Artisan's Blend is a firm favorite for me. I am a committed English/Balkan piper; they really come alive for me in cool weather. I find it to be rich, dark and smooth. I fear that perhaps you are correct and that tin you have was compromised. In my opinion, Latakia does not benefit from aging like Virginia does. I find that aged English blends simply get "softer" and tend to lose their robust flavor impact. For me AB is not an English crossover blend, like Rattrays "Accountants Mixture", it is full bodied and robust. I also wonder what affect your pour has on the flavor profile. Could it be robbing the bowl of its sweetness and gusto? That is a lovely BC pipe, nice lines to it and lovely flame grain and birdseye. Happy Sunday and serene smokes, Gary
Howdy Gary! I was really hoping to get those rich, dark robust flavors that I was expecting - but they missed me!? I will certainly revisit this one though. And good point about the pour - it is something that I have wondered about - how much does that play into our abilities to taste and enjoy the tobacco?! It makes sense that higher proof alcohol - enjoyed neat - would certainly impact our taste... something for me to be more conscious of when selecting what I pour to enjoy with my pipe. Cheers!
I have really evolved Ashton artisans blend. Moisture is going to play a big role. You can regulate but depending how long it’s been open, it may never be what it’s supposed to. When it dries out it can lose the oils and stuff that give that great flavor (so I’ve heard) bummer! Also English Luxury is in my top two English. I like the Balkan types and gl please Abingdon is my favorite. Great to see you my friend
I was really surprised at the PS English luxury! Really enjoyed it more than I thought I might - not sure why I thought I wouldn’t?!? I’m hoping I can salvage some of the goodness out of the Artisan’s blend? We’ll see. And thanks for the heads-up on Abingdon! Will have to add it to ‘the List’! Thanks for stopping by!

@@PipeAndAPour Balkan Mixture has only Virginia and Latakia. The name implies that it’s a replacement in taste of the defunct Balkan Sobranie.
