Unfortunate you didn’t like that laser. I’ve been using mine everyday for two months now. We had slab issues so lot of custom cut stud heights. I’ve used this laser along with its receiver to square up for Snapping wall plate lines. Also used them to make sure truss layouts were square according to grid lines snapped out on the floor. All this done in full mid day sun. It’s a great laser. May just have to invest a bit more for the receiver. Awesome vids by the way!
RR construction uses a Stabila laser to square their buildings. Kyle has a video on how it works. Expensive, but automatically squares the foundation. Give it a look.
@@stabila9706 yes out of them all I hv 3/4 sitting in my shop ! I use a Stabila 330 I think ? I am a finish carpenter and it’s great even for a lot of your work! Expensive yes! But not sitting in a corner ! He needs the receiver so he is not on the floor hunting for the line!
You should look over leica lino ML180. It rotates itself. So you set it on the first point and put receiver on second point and it rotates itself to find second point and then you are able to make a square very fast.. 😊😊
I'm in the commercial industry and debating switching over to residential. Any work habits I should start picking up on to help me be a better framer? (Aside from the longer hours of course). Just finished my second year of schooling so I have calculations down and everything
Go get yourself a Hilti PM 40-MG just google it the thing is amazing for layout. It has a reciever and the point intersection is right under the unit so it rotates perfect over the point. You can do it 1 man setup. Put the receiver on the far end with the noise up high. Then you stay with the unit and use the dial to accurately rotate the unit untill the sound reads solid. Your on line @ square. I have two of these and it’s so fast
I could tell right away as soon as you turned it on you stretched it in the wrong mode you had it locked and one click down would have been auto level that would have fixed it. you had it in the wrong setting.
Next time on the end u had the target just put ur speed square standing up on your mark and you can see when the laser hits very edge so u can do it by yourself
just read other comments lasers fine set receiver on pencil mark micro adjust laser other end wait for beep sound perfect square as I said it takes a bit of time to get fast
Yeah it’s so hard to see outside red green its just really hard to see the line really nice inside the house the framers at work want one I just keep telling them don’t waste your money
If you want to do that job by yourself and faster, invest in a Stabila Total Station. I have one and won’t use anything else. Pricey but pays for itself.
And.... you just discovered the biggest issue with that laser and that is visually seeing the line during daylight hours. It no workee. The solution is to spend some more money on the Milwaukee laser detector and that problem goes away. The specs say the range is 165 feet and while that may be true, the naked eye will not see the line for much distance at all during broad daylight. It would have been nice if the marketing guys would have been a bit more forthcoming about this.
You're a guy who might want to read the instructions. You don't level it and get it online buy having a guy rotate the entire laser at the other end of the house.
didn't even switch to the self-leveling mode, you had it in the locked position
Wouldn’t have mattered he’s looking for a different tool

Thanks , I’ve watched vids since and everyone seems to use the detector
This is a primarily indoor laser, what you want is a Stabila LA180L.
I use laser receivers. They work everytime and super accurate.
Goooood to see ya BEASTY!!! hope this week is starting off perfectly .... hello from Monday, April 24, 2023.
If you want to use that outside you need to purchase the audio receiver

Dont do it…. Commercial is where the money is at unless youre doing whole neighborhoods or customs
use a receiver lot quicker on your own and when sunny it take a bit of practice after a while its quick great vids by the way

I really want one for doing stuff. How much for it?
It was 500 I believe
I bought this to and was super disappointed to! You can not use this outside whatsoever without the laser detector. I returned my to.
What are your boots bro? They look sweet, not too chunky!
I think after the first couple minutes of messing with it I would've set it to the side and went back to the tape and chalk box lol
It’s not his fault his helper couldn’t hit the target with the laser
@@mikeznel6048 true ive used these for plumbing and racking the walls and they were very convenient
They also sells or they come with green glasses to see it
Learn to use your tools before going to the job site! You needed the laser line detector that works in sunny conditions! Again know your tools!
Wow i just realised how close you are haha. I frequently visit the home depot on centennial/barton
Use the old calculator and a tape , really more efficient
Ya I think you’re right
What you have in your hand, you need to turn 360 all the way around you have the backside facing the front
Stabila layout station is the way to go in this situation and many other more.
Dude, you should return the laser man too.
no many house now?
good luck
i need a framing job In canda brampton can help me with that ?
You need reciver with peep sound but i use Bosch 12v green laser
Stabila layout laser works amazing. Try that oue

You cannot clearly see the laser line in natural light and have to use receivers.
Best for use inside tho.
Unlock the self-leveling feature. That’s the issue.

100 %. A lot of mixed messages on how visible they are in daylight conditions
That’s true and most of the marketing videos are shot inside a building if you notice.

You are like @Thecrazyframer (a youtube channel)! Your job ,your voice , and not showing your face in camera, almost like him.
Use a Laserliner
Lol😂he didnt know how to use it obviously it was on lock mode and the card has to be the green side
Perhaps you should have read the instructions and manoeuvred the body yourself
The pendulum is locked , learn your tool
Got to switch it to unlock at the bottom
It’s possible that was the issue but my concern was it wasn’t showing up beyond about 15 ft in the daylight
lol 😂 no working May be is the tool not the brand
Lmao
Ehhh. Old school never fails.... maybeeee sticking with what you've spent decades doing will be faster just because of how engrained it is
😂 wow that's some incompetence hard at work.
