NS 965 NS/BNSF Combo OCS Train Departs Augusta, GA

On a cool Monday morning, we made our way to Augusta, GA to catch the NS and BNSF OCS trains depart the city after their stay for the Masters. However, it would be the first time the two trains would combine into one. We made it in time to catch them put the train together with the NS and BNSF engines up front and the NS and BNSF cars after that making it a 29 car passenger train running as NS 965. The train was then able to depart close to noon and we chase the train on the NS Augusta District towards Millen, GA on its way towards Macon.

Here's a question and comment...why is the 2 NS loco's with a BNSF loco on their Office Consist?? Are hinting towards a NS/BNSF Merger?? Just wondering...
And, the 2 new NS loco's were snapped up by upper management for the Office train use. I recall see by those engines being shipped by BNSF through Oklahoma City on Virtual Railfan. Too bad upper management didn't allow the road crews get them...sad!!

Those NS engines are specifically assigned to this train now after the F units have been sold off. The BNSF OCS train has come to Augusta since at least 2012 but this was the first time NS and BNSF combined their trains when leaving Augusta.

@@csxnstrainman excellent...just thought maybe NS and BNSF might be hinting at a future merger to exceed UP as the largest Class 1 in America.
I wish my old company would pay my transportation and travel costs for me to go see the the Masters @ Augusta!! Heck, might even pay for a round or two, lol.

Heard the BNSF train was in Atlanta over an hour ago. the NS train should on the way from Macon now.
