    Thanks for an informative review. One thing you didn't mention which people might find interesting is that the lens hood can be put on the lens in reverse which enables you to carry it inside the travel bag that the lens comes in. I find this quite helpful.

    Very, very clear description of this lens and lovely examples to show just how good it is. I am primarily a wildlife videographer and recently sold my ultra sharp Olympus 300mm F4 pro lens and purchased this Sigma 150-600 with the original Metabones Speedbooster v1 for micro 4/3 cameras. Now I have the versatility of a zoom, a faster lens and a sharper lens due to the speedbooster. Although I do find the zoom and focus rings stiff, as most reviewer‘s have commented, it is not any problem if you shoot on a tripod. I find the focus ring very accurate and easier to use than even that Olympus 300 mm. I really appreciate that it is nearer the camera end of the lens body rather than the far end near the objective lens. I am so impressed by the quality of images I am able to produce with my Panasonic GH5…I wish I had purchased this lens years ago. t is a beast for wildlife shooting videographers And so amazingly priced for what you get.
    Once again you have provided a very clear and informative review here. Thank you so much.

    Great video. I just bought one here in Ireland for 1,050e. I will be using the lens with a Nikon 7100. I could barely afford the Contemporary version, previously I had the sigma 170 500 mm. Can I ask you can you suggest best settings for seascapes and ships which are a long way off the coast? Also if you take the tripod bracket off the lens, is it safe to carry the lens when attached to the camera? I feel that it would pull out of the adaptor due to the high weight of the lens? Thanks in advance. Tommy.

    • @StudiodeRaaf
      @StudiodeRaaf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tom, why not take the tripod with you if you going to take pictures from a long distance. Always keep your shutterspeed up when you photograph moving objects although ships don't move that fast i guess. Keep the ISO as low as possible and try to find the sharpest aperture normally this is around F7 / F11. It is always a case of finding the best balance between aparture, iso and shutterspeed. About the adapter, normally the built quality is so good (and all metal) that it should be able to carry the lens. Although when carring the camera and lens around i would always hold the lens and not the camera so the weight is on the lens.
      Regards,
      Chris

    I enjoyed your video, and will be looking for more of them. I have a Cannon Rebel 80D. Do you think that this would be a good lens for sport photography, especially auto racing. I currently have a 18-400 lens that I am happy with, but would like to upgrade if you feel that this would be t worthwhile investment. Thank you for your time.

      Correction. I have a Cannon EOS D80.

    • @StudiodeRaaf
      @StudiodeRaaf  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jeff, i think it all depends on the auto focus system of the camera. It has 45 focus points and AF lock so it sounds good but is it quick enough for auto racing... Another thing to consider is: the EOS 80D has a APS-C sensor which means you have to multiply the focal lenght x1.62 so the lens will have a focal length on your camera of 243mm - 972mm instead of 150mm -600mm. You good ofcourse consider renting the lens for a few days before buying.. Hope you make the right decision.
      Regards, Chris

    • @nerdMike
      @nerdMike 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      this lens has internal autofocus, HSM motor. So I think will do. Remember that you''ll get 255-900mm equivalent zoom on your crop sensor camera. More zoom than a fullframe camera, useful almost for wildlife and birdphotography only. Even at the zoo can be hard to use on you camera, it gets too close to the subject.

    I am interested to see that you have the teleconverter kit and use a Canon 6d. I have the same but cannot autofocus when using the TC. How did you manage to get yours to work?

    • @StudiodeRaaf
      @StudiodeRaaf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Phil, i will have a look in the coming days. Do you use the latest firmware on the EOS6D?

    • @clementsphil
      @clementsphil 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply. Yes, firmware is up to date on the 6d and will be getting the USB dock to update the 150-600 C. Bought the lens and TC as the kit, and was disappointed that the AF didn't work. Reading around I understand that the 6d is only rated to autofocus to f5.6 and needs to be rated f8 or better to work. I think there is a way of taping over some contacts on the TC-1401 to fool the camera but that is at the risk of some sharpness and potentially AF speed loss

      yes it is. the focal length wil change because the EOS t6s has an aps-c sensor. so the focal length is x 1.6 so 150x600 x 1.6= 240x960.

  • @willparsons32

    No need for the teleconverter if you're using it on a crop sensor DSLR as the cropped sensor will transform the 150-600 by 1.6x making it a 240 x 960mm lens.
    Sigma comes ahead of the game with a lot of the fine options like that of the lens hood in comparison to the overly priced Canon L series lens that is supposed to be a perfect lens...
    Go Sigma or go home!! - you can't go wrong!!

  • @willparsons32
    @willparsons32 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Comparing Sigma to Canon is like comparing affordability to unaffordable and the funny thing is is that the Sigma lens draws extremely tough competition for Canon's lenses. So why pay 2-3x more for Canon when you get extremely Sharp images from Sigma??
    I'd suggest one purchases Sigma and save your $$ for some more incredible Sigma glass.
