@@HofTheStage You can instead check out the runner up compilation of Zekka from the same SBX Kickback battle, or at least his Seeding round which is out of the world, the vocal techniques are insane, imo one of the best musical beatbox rounds of all time, his other rounds were as good or even better than those of D-Low. His GBB Elimination was great, but he had a few issues so it wasn't the best from him.

His plan was to take whatever melody his opponent would use, put an original twist to it and then put it in his track This worked in his favor because Zekka had a three tone melody with voice cracks, so he is showing that he can do similar complex melodies as well
A great strategy as well since Zekka can't counter D-Low's round. D-Low be like, "You can't counter me. My whole round is a counter of your own beats."
He wasn't actually using the loop because it was against the rules for this competition. He just used it for a prop. That was all him, but he is a looper like he said. There's endless content of D-Low on TH-cam. Nobody's better than D-Low.
D-low is probably the best all around beatboxer at the moment, but there’s lots of different styles of beatbox and plenty of amazing beatboxers who’ve spent many years refining their own style that no one else can do. I’d suggest looking at Show-Go - You’re Gone for something different and amazing. Also as some others have already suggested of the Grand Beatbox Battle 2021 Wildcard Winners, River, Gene, Stitch, Show-Go, and Den all have an amazing and unique style with a more musical style.
Yeah I second what this guy is saying. If you want some other crazy vocal techniques check out Inertia for some super deep inward bass or Ale for amazing tongue flute techniques.
yeah dlow is amazing and the best battler out there, but there is so much insane beatboxer that are not even that good in battles but really fucking good at making music
Couple little knowledge bits; Most low bass sounds done were done the lips, uvula, or ingressive phonation. The hiccup is a weird glottal thing. Humming Is done thru the nose which means sounds from the mouth that require no lung air are still possible. Most of the percussion sounds are based off voiceless plosives or voiced plosives which have been modified to be voiceless Also, welcome to the beatbox community! Esh!

Well, if you want my best guess, the 626 effect is a fricative technique using his esophagus like a pan flute. He's not 'burping' he's holding his throat in a burp. No air/gas from the stomach is used to make the sound, 'holding a burp' just pushes your esophagus out enough that it can vibrate freely.
10:42 there were no effect, he was just doing a counter against his opponent. You should react to the battles then you would understand the rounds more.

It should be said that EQ Compression and Reverb were used in post for this, but so has basically every singer in the last 30 years. Also, the loop pedal was not used, it was just a prop. It was a response to another guy who also used it as a prop
Of course, those are basically the main effects that just make the voice sound more balanced and upfront (in most cases, although they can also be used to extremes but that's not the case here). And the loop part really got me fooled, he did it so well I though it was real 🤣 dude's insane!

I think what you called «changing» his EQ is actually the difference between outward and inward sounds. The reason a lot of the bass lines have a different timber is because they’re done while inhaling inwards, giving a much lower note floor. That’s also why he’s able to do a bassline while doing a drum beat. The bass is done while breathing inwards or outwards, while the drum sounds are often times made using mouth pressure. This is a terrible and long-winded explanation, but there’s no effects or loop station used. In that one clip he’s only pretending to use it, because his opponent is known for doing loop battles, which is why he says «But I’m also a looper». Beatboxing is absolutely insane. Discovered only a few months ago, and I’m absolutely amazed by it all…
As a vocal coach you should check out Stitch GBB Wildcard or Gene Shinozaki GBB Wildcard Also, the EQ for beatbox is usually turned down mids, and turned up highs and lows. Obviously an oversimplification, but that tends to be the trend.

18:45 about wanting to go to some club or concert, there is a yearly event that takes place in Poland, it's called GBB and d-low was the solo champ in 2019. 2020 was cancelled cuz covid, and here in 2021 which recently ended, d-low was a judge there, GBB is flooded with beatbox masterminds, and it would be such a treat watching that event live and in the crowd
Dlow is on another level. Not just with skill but with personality. Humble as they come and supportive of anyone trying to follow suit. Be like Dlow. No mattter which path you choose.
The singing and sounds togheter is when you basically do the sound and instantly sing after or do a certain bass. Over time you can do it so fast that it sounds like its at the same time

Being a vocal coach, I suggest you to see stitch gbb 21 wildcard, the guy has some crazy vocal technics. Hello. The youtube algorithm brought me here. I just wanted to say that you aren't getting the "full flavor" of D-Low. At the moment, he is THE BEST BATTLE BEATBOXER in the whole world. It's because of his counters in the battles. In a battle, beatboxer does his own original beat and D-low counters with the exact same beat, on the spot, without preparation, when he just heard it on the stage, while making it even better. As he did in the SBX KickBack battle against most of his match ups, especially against Zekka in the finals. (Even though he had some time for preparation there, point is still the same) My point is, yes, the Winner's compilation is amazing to react to from plain vocal point of view, but there is much more musicality involved in the battles, which is something a vocal coach can appreciate, I presume. You are right, D-low is top class. Not many people are better than him, because he can do a wide variety of the "new era" sounds, BUT! a lot of beatboxers specialize on one or two techniques and are better in that aspect, objectively. Not even a personal opinion. Inward bass masters: Vocodah, Tomazacre, King Inertia etc., Technical masters: Alem (a legend), Kohey, Colaps (This years winner), etc., Battle (counter) masters: D-low, Alexinho, B-art, etc. and there is many more legends in the scene. Codfish and his mastery over throat bass and vibration bass combined with his vocals, Dharni won the tournament 3 times in a row, an all-rounder beast with many special sounds only he mastered (especially the human echo), Tom Thum with his mastery of Mouth Trumpet... and so much more. The effects contestants can use are very limited and most of them are prohibited. They would automatically disqualify, if they used... pretty much anything else than reverb. The "But I'm also a looper" is part of his counter, but you already saw that in the comments below. :) The "funny mouth" you see him use a lot is a technique he himself created and it's called "D-low Tongue Flute". At least as far as I know. Also, from a former clarinetist, I recommend playing the tracks on repeat a few times. After you get the initial taste of "beatbox craziness", you start to hear the minor technical mistakes beatboxers might make in their rhythms... But if you look at the part of D-low's first final round, where he "spits real fast", you realize how "correct" he is, rhythmically. He made a video reacting to these finals, hence, to himself, and pointed this out. It's just a little fun fact for a "normal consumer", but to us musicians, this is absolutely epic. Wish I could explain this better, but I'm not a native speaker. You'll have to search it up on your own, if you're interested. D-low was judging Grand Beatbox Battle 2021 in the same manner, and his reactions from home to what happened at the show, show exactly the same. He is indeed a professional. Oh, every judge has to do a showcase at the show and boy oh boy... did he deliver! I saw a lot of reactions to D-low on youtube. This one is one of the best, because you bring in some interesting insight that others don't. Keep that informative aspect up, it's amazing! :)
Dlow has such an understanding of beats/music that many get lost when he really gets into his insane combos.. many just hear noise, but if you break it down every sound he produces has pattern, sequence, and with clarity of this degree...You end up with.. D-LOWWWWWW!!!!!! 😎😎🔥🔥

Loved the reaction! A recommendation would be the "Solo Wildcard Winners Announcement | GBB21: WORLD LEAGUE". It will give you a huge range of styles and you will probably enjoy Stitch, Gene and River'. The wildcards are submitted by beatboxers who want to get into the Grand Beatbox Battle (GBB) which is the biggest live beatbox battle event, the wildcards can be audio processed with basic dynamic (compression) and EQ plugins, as well as reverb. But the wildcard must be processed in the same way all the way through, so they can't add reverb to the bass then remove it and process the high notes differently, If they want reverb it will have to be on the whole video! There is also a top 30 compilation which shows the exceptionally high level of entries as these competitors didn't make it in but are still incredible! Welcome to the beatbox community!
19:00 man, I can't overstate the impact of this singing right here. This is his opponents specialty in that battle, and the fact that he just pulls this off like he's been doing it his whole life... I lost my mind. He takes one of his opponents best techniques and throws it back in their face. Crazy
As someone that listens to beatboxers/loopers regularly, this was a really fun and genuine reaction to watch. It is crazy to discover people can really make those sounds with just their mouths and, as training progresses and people discover new things, it sounds more and more impossible by the minute. Thank you for the video, it was fun. I'm sure people already commented on this a lot, but just in case; this was a solo competition, which means you're only allowed to use your mic and nothing else. What happens at 9:38 is that D-low's adversary pretended to use a looper's device for his round, to boast about doing multiple layers of sounds (like the RC-505 can do, the loop device) just with his mouth. D-low did the same and faked using his loop device, to boast about how he can produce all those sounds without the need of using the device. It's all him. All you can hear on this video is him beatboxing and nothing else. The guy is a monster.

I've said this before, watching D-low fool people into believing he's using a loop station is one of the reasons he's the worlds best, his creative talent is what sets him apart from the rest by a mile. You will notice that most now try to copy this style and incorporate these unique sounds into their routines.

Hello. The youtube algorithm brought me here. I just wanted to say that you aren't getting the "full flavor" of D-Low.
At the moment, he is THE BEST BATTLE BEATBOXER in the whole world. It's because of his counters in the battles.
In a battle, beatboxer does his own original beat and D-low counters with the exact same beat, on the spot, without preparation, when he just heard it on the stage, while making it even better. As he did in the SBX KickBack battle against most of his match ups, especially against Zekka in the finals. (Even though he had some time for preparation there, point is still the same)
My point is, yes, the Winner's compilation is amazing to react to from plain vocal point of view, but there is much more musicality involved in the battles, which is something a vocal coach can appreciate, I presume.
You are right, D-low is top class. Not many people are better than him, because he can do a wide variety of the "new era" sounds, BUT! a lot of beatboxers specialize on one or two techniques and are better in that aspect, objectively. Not even a personal opinion. Inward bass masters: Vocodah, Tomazacre, King Inertia etc., Technical masters: Alem (a legend), Kohey, Colaps (This years winner), etc., Battle (counter) masters: D-low, Alexinho, B-art, etc. and there is many more legends in the scene. Codfish and his mastery over throat bass and vibration bass combined with his vocals, Dharni won the tournament 3 times in a row, an all-rounder beast with many special sounds only he mastered (especially the human echo), Tom Thum with his mastery of Mouth Trumpet... and so much more.
The effects contestants can use are very limited and most of them are prohibited. They would automatically disqualify, if they used... pretty much anything else than reverb.
The "But I'm also a looper" is part of his counter, but you already saw that in the comments below. :)
The "funny mouth" you see him use a lot is a technique he himself created and it's called "D-low Tongue Flute". At least as far as I know.
Also, from a former clarinetist, I recommend playing the tracks on repeat a few times. After you get the initial taste of "beatbox craziness", you start to hear the minor technical mistakes beatboxers might make in their rhythms... But if you look at the part of D-low's first final round, where he "spits real fast", you realize how "correct" he is, rhythmically. He made a video reacting to these finals, hence, to himself, and pointed this out. It's just a little fun fact for a "normal consumer", but to us musicians, this is absolutely epic.
Wish I could explain this better, but I'm not a native speaker. You'll have to search it up on your own, if you're interested.
D-low was judging Grand Beatbox Battle 2021 in the same manner, and his reactions from home to what happened at the show, show exactly the same. He is indeed a professional.

Loved the reaction! A recommendation would be the "Solo Wildcard Winners Announcement | GBB21: WORLD LEAGUE". It will give you a huge range of styles and you will probably enjoy Stitch, Gene and River'. The wildcards are submitted by beatboxers who want to get into the Grand Beatbox Battle (GBB) which is the biggest live beatbox battle event, the wildcards can be audio processed with basic dynamic (compression) and EQ plugins, as well as reverb. But the wildcard must be processed in the same way all the way through, so they can't add reverb to the bass then remove it and process the high notes differently, If they want reverb it will have to be on the whole video! There is also a top 30 compilation which shows the exceptionally high level of entries as these competitors didn't make it in but are still incredible! Welcome to the beatbox community!

As someone that listens to beatboxers/loopers regularly, this was a really fun and genuine reaction to watch. It is crazy to discover people can really make those sounds with just their mouths and, as training progresses and people discover new things, it sounds more and more impossible by the minute. Thank you for the video, it was fun.
I'm sure people already commented on this a lot, but just in case; this was a solo competition, which means you're only allowed to use your mic and nothing else. What happens at 9:38 is that D-low's adversary pretended to use a looper's device for his round, to boast about doing multiple layers of sounds (like the RC-505 can do, the loop device) just with his mouth. D-low did the same and faked using his loop device, to boast about how he can produce all those sounds without the need of using the device.
It's all him. All you can hear on this video is him beatboxing and nothing else. The guy is a monster.
