Both, Cassidy, ill push uphill to have stability on the downside. This is really gonna take off I think now that you featured these two. But the Blackthorn would be more practical for all-around trail riding. Some people need a bike that can climb well, and be stable downhill. are these a one-quiver bike? I think with some tweaks the Blackthorn may work. Jeff didn't mention the climbing ability of the Blackthorn, but i assume with it being a long and slack frame, it would compromise ok climbing for downhill solidity. cool! Glad you guys are repping Salsa. They have been around a long time and I'm old now lol
Love my $1200 dollar Salsa hardtail, it's been a great starter bike. I'd choose the Blackthorn out of these 2, being more practical for what I'd ride, plus that blue is sick.
I demo'd the Salsa Blackthorn last saturday and it was an amazing bike. I'm already a fan of Salsa because of their Deadwood frame. Their paint jobs are always on point!
I have the Salsa Rustler trail bike, 150 front and 130 in the rear, have taken it down Mt. Lemmon (in Tucson) a couple times, handled it just fine...really like the bike overall.
got a salsa redpoint as my first FS, 150 front and rear, absolutely in love with it, amazing on the downhills, and can keep up with friends on the climbs with much less travel, big fan of the split pivot!
Since you are now tied to the QBP mothership by being a Salsa dealer, you should bring the Blackthorn to MN. You can do the Cuyuna, Redhead, Giants Ridge, North Shore & Duluth tour. Its way better than you are thinking mountain biking in MN would be.
You see Salsa bikes a lot in the upper midwest because A) they are a Minnesota company (as is Surly), and B) the bikes are more than enough for midwest regional terrain. It's cool to see them branch out into this market.
5:53 what the fox was that?! ;) Nice bikes though! Split pivot is why I wanted a DeVinci, DW-link is why I got a Pivot and an Ibis. Now there are bikes that have both? 🤯 Thx for sharing and making me envy every rider that rides those bikes ;)
I own a Ripmo V1 and also tried a Ripley. The Ripmo is probably the best do it all bike out there. It climbs just so exceptionally well and lacks nothing on the downhills. I was between the SB130 and the Ripmo. After trying them both the Ripmo was the clear winner IMO. I probably will add a Ripley to my collection soon, but I want to try the Transition Spur before I make a decision. You will love the Ripmo.
very informative video on some cool bikes! however salsa has made a couple longer travel bikes that had the split pivot design up until now. i personally own a 2018 salsa redpoint carbon that is a 150mm rear and 160mm front. very fun, capable, and well speced bikes. I would buy another one.
Cool bikes. I like the colors. They are pretty. Jeff it’s been over a year of me asking you on a date, but let’s try it one more time. Do you want to socially distant date at The Stand?
I'm planning to get the Blackthorn when the alloy models are available. I'm 5'11 which straddles M and L in Salsa's size charts. Normally I'd size up, but since these bikes are so big and long, I'm thinking of sizing down, what do you think?
was watching a video about the best 2019 hardtails & saw a bike with suntour suspension forks that actually was the bike of choice in that video....CAN SUSPENSION FORKS DO THE SAME JOB?
I remember Salsa. I was 13 years old in Petaluma California. 1984 to be exact. We played skate hockey in the parking lot of a warehouse. I remember a guy telling us of the bicycles they ,( him and 1other I belive) . It had reverse.! "Reverse" I thought, WOW!! Im nearly 50 and it is in my brain as if it was yesterday. Nice Job Guys. I have been mountain climbing and down hillin it ever since you put it in my head. Santa Barbara has Awesome trails if you haven't been. Thanks much. It was cool to find you on youtube. Peace & stay safe.🤙
These look great but I don't really get calling the prices good. They seem pretty overpriced for the spec compared to what you get with stuff like the ripmo af, fezarri, commencal, etc. Even giant I think has better specced options for the price point (although I'll admit geo looks pretty ok). And the ripmo af also has dw designed suspension. In fact the price for the entry level carbon is about what most "boutique" brands charge for their entry level. A lot of entry level carbon is 4500. For 3100 you get an aluminum salsa with a 35 gold. 3200 gets you a ripmo af with dvo suspension. I'm of course focusing on the low to mid range models. I really have no concept of what 7500 gets you.
How do you think the Blackthorn compares to the Ripmo in the Climbing category? Thanks I was able to demo the Blackthorn but only on the street, sadly not in the dirt. I thought it pedaled well and seemed light to me.
I've got a Cassidy C SLX and wondering if anyone else has issues w/ the frame bearings? Mine squeaks and creaks unless I've individually removed and cleaned the bolts and bearings at all pivot points. Even if freshly cleaned, the bike is creaking again with in 45 minutes if the trail is dusty.
I like your math! @12:02 you say $1,000 difference but the price is actually $100 difference. If we could get your math to translate to the price of the bikes I would love to buy a "$6,000" bike for $600. You can just message me on delivery dates.
Salsa Cassidy or Blackthorn, which would you pick?
Cassidy
Spearfish
blackthorn, no need for gigundo travel at my locals...

Both
Glad to see Salsa stepping up their game!
Feeling so good about my Horsethief after watching the pivot information. Only been riding Salsa. Great company.

We need a Horsethief review soon! It's been my dream bike for a while!

Salsa makes great bikes. I’m enjoying my carbon Salsa Spearfish. You should do a review on their short travel rides too.
I can’t wait until “modern” doesn’t mean longer lower and slacker. In the meantime, however, rad bikes!
@@skiboot1 stole the words from my mouth
I've owned the timberjack for a few months now and it's been a great bike for getting back into trail riding!

Cool - nice seeing how you guys are expanding your line-up!
Rode the Blackthorn last night. That thing is a beast!
Love my Deadwood. Don’t need these but appreciate their awesomeness
I just cant get enough Chips n Salsa, ya know!!!
These bikes look absolutely epic! Definitely excited to try one out at some point.
Awesome, I’m from Minnesota. Nice to see a Minnesota brand, coming into the enduro scene.
Salsa: Because bikes are for having fun, not getting strava times.
I think you watch more TH-cam videos than me 😂
Why would this not get strava times?
Strava times or the ride doesn't matter.
I like both aspects of MTB. Somedays I go out and just have fun and shred gnar. Then some days I want to go out a smash my Strava times
Por que no los dos?
My Salsa Journeyman is amazing! Great value in Sora build.
Missing out Salsa is great. Glad to see they made in your ranks.
Just bought the Blackthorn Carbon SLX and I love it. It is an awesome bike!
My first full sus was a salsa it was about 10 years old served me well and really got me serious about the sport
I have the 23 Cassidy in the SLX build. I love it, only downside is the weight but for freeride and bike parks, its really good.
Love my Salsa Hardtail! Rocking a Rangefinder Sx Eagle... great bike for basic trail riding.
I just got the 2020 rustler love it!!!
Me too! Hard to find reviews on that one tho...
Salsa really knocked it out of the park with these bikes!

3:12 Lost my shit 🤣🤣 love yalls humor n editing
That Blackthorn looks Sick!
What do ya know another great video!!!
5:53 what the fox was that?! ;)

Thx for sharing and making me envy every rider that rides those bikes ;)
These are not DW-link bikes. They are split pivot.
and whats epic is that Jeff had new epic haircut too.
Speaking of DW, you guys should start carrying Ibis bikes. Love them.
What have you ridden of theirs ? I just bought a ripmo and am waiting on the build.
Pretty pumped 💪
@@A.D.D.O.C.D.T Love my Ripmo best bike I have ever owned .

Oh, I had no idea Salsa did full squish. I thought they just did gnarly ass hardtails!!!
I'm leaning towards one of these for my next bike
I like how he never even mentioned the wheel size 😂😂
Id take the Salsa Cassidy over a Specialized Enduro any day
Greetings from Thousand Oaks, these bikes look jnsane!
Blackthorn!!! LETS GO!!!
I LOVE MY SALSA! Well good bikes !
Great job!👍🏻
I bought a carbon Salsa Rustler. Things super dope.
Man this bikes look good!
Amazing bikes that don't cost like 10'000k for high end stuff 😂
Just took my first bite into Salsa Horsethief love the design and ride ability great brand fun to DH or over all MTB.
Blackthorn ❤️ I need it 😍😭
Great video 👍

Whose riding style looks better. Liam or Jared?
Lired - me and Liam combined
@@jared_erickson Just subscribed to your channel brow !
The Blackthorn is going to get a long hard look from me next summer.
My Timberjack is great. I'd love to get a horsethief or blackthorn for riding crazier stuff and a Mukluk for winter :)
Bikes look great! Were those coyotes on the trail?
Yes it was!
Hell yes!! I love my Salsa Pony Rustler. Lame name, great bike!
they generally name their bikes after types of fish.
Looks good... well except for the kinked seattube. Like Trek it seems like a limiting factor for dropperpost length, especially on smaller sizes.
Not bad! 180mm💪🏻
How well does the Blackthorn climb? Any features that make it good or bad in this area?
Love both but I would keep the salsa one ☝️
Nice, I like em!!
Cool bikes. I like the colors. They are pretty.

😂 Maybe baby. Slide into my dm's
@@WorldwideCyclery 😝😝😝
Oh no! It’s a trap (said in storm trooper)
wait outside Jeff, just to make sure she doesnt turn up on a road bike
No one asks me on dates
Nice bikes! What trails are you guys riding in this video?
Are these bikes actually available for purchase now or are they back ordered like every other bike in their class?
Salsa bikes are dope
The new geo, Brah!
Could i get the cassidy in Switzerland? Love the colour way of it
I’d argue that salsa has the best paint jobs in the game

I got a salsa dance class ad before this video...

Can you guys review the horsethief??
Theo look a lot like the Canyon Spectral frame & suspension

Hey these bikes are currently $2500 at Rei ? Should I get one in 2024 ? Good price point ?
Blackburn would suit me best but, does it have a threaded BB? Cheers guy, great stuff!! 👍🏻
they are threaded
Yeah both threaded!
Worldwide Cyclery Thanks for that. How would you say it compared to the Revel Rascal, as I know that’s one your particularly fond of?
Dose this give my 2020 Timberjack SLX more trail cred??
What would the leverage ratio be for the Cassidy?
So Salsa... I too read Stormlight Archive :D! Dalinar the BlackThorn's Shards are not painted however ;). Odd's anyone gets any of this... idk lol.
Where can I test a medium blackthorn in California?
The salsa Cassidy looks just like the specialized Status - the mullet set up. Do you think you guys could review that bike?
They aren’t a specialized dealer so I highly doubt they’ll talk about it
Beautiful frame. But don’t love the builds and the frame is a tad high imo. But beautiful bikes forsure. Love the purple Blackthorn
Do "Reach" Numbers typically not include the stem? So Frame only then you add what ever stem you want?
normally they do not, and these do not include stem. So stem is in addition to the claimed reach numbers :)
What trail is that in the intro?
What's the trail at 0:58???
Just ordered worldwidecyclery top cap, mud guard and, water bottle 😃
Salsa has always been a good bang for the buck brand. Unfortunately these are still out of our budget haha.
Cool, I wouldn't mind throwing a leg over one!
Never heard of them, but they look really cool
Weights?
ahhh thats why the trek fuel is bloody good on a rough stuff.
I like your math! @12:02 you say $1,000 difference but the price is actually $100 difference. If we could get your math to translate to the price of the bikes I would love to buy a "$6,000" bike for $600. You can just message me on delivery dates.
Y does gravel cycle headset has big ring ( bearing ) size then above
Did anyone see the fix run off the trails?😮
The yellow and purple salsa needs yhe formula forks!
