    I love that the video has no sound. I can hear but I was curious about sign language and watching it like that made me more attentive to the signs I believe. Sound is distracting.

    As a hearing person, the lack of sound is unusual

      Only goes to show that you're depending too much on sounds then.

    I looked up asl accents bc I want to perform a song & I want it to be dancy. I’m already left handed and Ik that can sometimes throw ppl off/surprise them. This was more than what I was looking for but love it!

    Do Canadians have our own dialect of ASL? I just learned the Maritimes had their own separate language derived from British Sign Language but sadly, that is on the verge of dying out.

      Check out www.uap.ualberta.ca/titles/8-9780888643001-canadian-dictionary-of-asl. But yes, there are differences even regionally within Canada, too!

    So if someone is missing an arm, can that be considered as an accent?

    • @LaPingvino
      @LaPingvino 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      there are different reasons to sign with one hand, also when you don't miss an arm, and as some signs work with two hands, you have to adjust, so you definitely get a different accent. That can still cause different accents though, just missing an arm is not an accent on itself.

      That’s a good question, I never thought about that! Even if you have a broken arm or hand and can’t use it, how would you sign a word that requires two hands? 🤔
