@@amyk.2500 exactly!! I have acid reflux and Alpha Gal so like I’m gonna be that annoying customer that makes them list out ingredients that aren’t even on the board 😂
Keith Lee is top tier. If you know Keith Lee's videos, you know he consistently states he doesnt want special treatment and he wants the freedom to state his unbiased opinion.
If a restaurant can't handle a food review, then they really shouldn't be open. It's CRITICAL that you're able to take criticism as a business owner if you wanna improve and keep up a good rep. Acting like a toddler that's throwing a hissy fit because an influencer gave you constructive criticism only makes me NOT want to eat there. If they're doing that publicly, then how are they gonna react if something is wrong with your food, and you'd like it fixed?? No thanks
It just reminds me of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares and how many of those restaurant owners behaved in a similar way when he criticized them and then proceeded to give people food poisoning 😶
With Kitchen Nightmares, they always blamed "the edit" or the producers. And some even claimed the whole thing was "made up for the show"! Yeah, sure! If you don't want to have your restaurant reviewed, DON'T OPEN A FUCKING RESTAURANT !!
Adding onto this because restaurant owners frequently bring this up too: if you can’t afford a living wage for your staff because of “razor thin margins” that they always quote verbatim, YOU DO NOT DESERVE TO BE OPEN!!!!
I absolutely agree. But the "special treatment" thing should be communicated better, not on his part but on the restaurants. Bc in some cases it could just be that they don't have a table with enough seats for his family, and they have a two person table for him and his girlfriend. It seems he always assumes it's special treatment, when it could just be a seating issue in a busy restaurant. It's on the restaurant to communicate that to customers, and as a waitress, that's not hard to do I've had to do it before.
as someone who lived in atl for 19+ years these restaurants are always like this but Keith did nothing wrong. if anything he's doing more for atl in the restaurant service area.
I was raised in Atlanta. These rules are decades old. I worked in the food service industry during HS (late 90’s/early 2000’a), and we had many of the same “rules”, like no modifying food (like saying no cheese on the cheeseburger, or adding bacon to it), we had a 2hr cap for tables, but it started once the food was served, and gratuity was automatically added with parties of 6 or more and if a check was more than $100. Oh, they also wouldn’t seat you until everyone in your party was present. Lame rules, but 🤷🏼♀️ seems most of ATL hasn’t changed!
Wait, that's normal in that area? I wonder why. I've lived on the East Coast and in the Midwest and never saw this type of thing at restaurants where I've lived. I wonder if it's specific to Atlanta or the south in general?
@@CourtesyoftheD 5 is more than 4. So a couple with 3 children would not be able to eat here. I remember in my childhood my family regularly went out to eat with my mom, dad, my grandma and grandpa, and myself. That wouldn’t be allowed either. 4 is a ridiculously low number.
As someone who worked in a small restaurant, those rules are fucking insane. I handled parties of 30, split bills, and we had a rule that if we couldnt have someone sat and served their food in 45 minutes, we would tell the customer. Ive never been to ATL but that sounds insane
It is. I grew up there and moved at the end of highschool. Going back is like a fever dream, it’s like home but so so different! There’s lots of fun, but there’s also all lot jacked up. Great for visiting, but I would never move back.
Well theyre playing _exclusivity breeds demand_ card. But this feeling like a food circus atp and the customers are supposed to jump through hoops of fire for a take out meal.
Yea I used to be a server I’d never work there lol that would be so miserable and end up being MY problem that they aren’t eating fast enough or something lol
it's wild for people to say the Keith Lee's being super negative about those two restaurants because that's other people but three videos before the old lady gang video he posted a video about going into a complexly empty place, said he had great food then gave the restaurant $1000 to split among everyone and gave an ADDITIONAL $1000 tip to his server for the great customer service and he does that stuff all the time and legitimately changes peoples lives but people don't talk about that the same way they're talking about Old Lady Gang and the Real Milk and Honey
@meerkatmanorjr.2085 That is a privileged take. $1,000 is very much life changing for a lot of people. Hell, $100 can be life changing for some. If you watched the video that $1,000 he gave his server seemed to be life changing for him. Even if he used it for rent, that's one month rent paid. That can have a huge impact.
Man, you can definitely see how beauty influencers have screwed over people who want nothing but to be honest with reviews. Honestly I appreciate honest reviews and he wasn’t at all malicious with his review. He could Gordan Ramsey rip these people apart but he isn’t.
Its not just 1 type of influencer. The real issue is ppl (mostly kids)* cant understand why someone wouldnt take advantage of others and defend predatory corporations or celebrities that make billions that could care less about them. Its fcking weird. Most of them can't even afford the places/things they have these toxic opinions on.
What's so refreshing about Keith Lee is his humility. Even if he gets bad service, he still tips highly, tells his audience *not* to send hate, and gives honest feedback in a kind and honest way. He's just a guy trying to sit down to a nice meal, how could anyone find fault in that?
It's crazy because his milk and honey review is basically "they should really make operations more clear cause it was frustrating we couldnt get food. Everyone we talked to was nice though". Like when I heard about the controversy I was expecting him to blast them and instead it was just so mild and valid.
I live in Atlanta and I think it’s hilarious that the drama has made it to England but unfortunately that type of behavior has become normalized in Atlanta . I have been here a lot of years and I think a lot of those supports just get over on tourist I don’t know if people who live here even go because we know what to expect .
That's a REALLY good point, lol. I read some reviews, and many of them are from people who have very long layovers in ATL before making it back home. You're so right.
Keith is from Las Vegas and we love him and he’s never gotten death threats from anyone here for a review. atlanta and chicago need mental health treatment
Keith's comments were beyond reasonable and he's incredibly humble. The restaurant needed up and is only making it worse by not just apologizing and clarifying their policies.
"The real milk and honey" sounds like the owner is really annoying tbh. From how the rules are written to how he was on video. Sounds really full of himself. Certainly not a place I'd eat if I read all that 🤨
it's not in ATL it's outside of the city. Most of the places he went were not in ATL and were also places none of us that are actually from ATL have even ever heard of.
I regularly use Twitter and Keith Lee literally recieved a lot of support on Twitter. Anyone that criticized or insulted Keith on there was quickly dragged. For every 100 people hating on Keith Lee, there were 10,000 people to support Keith Lee.
From an overly analytical view point. Keith is lowkey indirectly purifying social dynamics. Blessings be to him, I commend his firmness in morals with something as intoxicating as fame.
Absolutely I think he’s probably one of if not the best possible influence on the internet. His attitude is genuinely something to aspire to have and watching his content has made me feel much calmer and patient in my daily life
He’s actually so smart sending his family in first to see how they treat “regular people” maybe they should treat every person like royalty at they’re customers not just because they’re FAMOUS smh
As a waitress for many years, I respect Keith Lee so much! He wants to wait like a normal person. He’s a normal guy. Very cool. Very humble. You never see that with a huge influencer!! Regular people get pissed when they have to wait at our diner for 20 minutes for a table. I’d die if he came to ours. I kinda want him to and kinda don’t. 😂 He’s a great dude! We’d tell him to wait just like all the others. Very nicely of course. Just like we do with everyone. Some of those rules posted from the beginning I get. Just the 90 minute time limit on tables. People literally camp for HOURS! Even when busy. It’s so annoying. They are taking up a table that at least 3-4 other people/groups could have had in that time. I get that one. The others, HUH???
Also, you just know that the same person complaining about him "not using clout correctly" would probably be throwing an absolute fit about entitled celebrities if the video had shown Keith Lee demanding special treatment...
Customer service in Atlanta is trash. But because most the food is pretty tasty, and certain spots blow up in popularity, people just deal with being treated that way and being charged crazy prices. Not all, but many places really do go too far and act like the customer is a nuisance and that they're doing YOU the favor by selling you food... that you paid good money for
Lol its fuck up to admit it but atl's Black owned businesses scene is horrible. Places be opening at 3 and closing at 7 randomly. Its like they all run on their own personal times
Imagine if more influencers had morals like him. The fact he’s not saying anything but his experience and these restaurants are so pressed is ridiculous 🙄 I don’t know who he is but he’s a good person for being so transparent
I'm pretty sure the people who are mad at Keith are the type of spineless fools who allow themselves to be treated poorly simply because that's just the ways things have been. Keith made them look like fools once they realize you can ask for better treatment or take your business elsewhere
I'm in Canada and even I know that Atlanta has a reputation for its restaurants aint being shit. And it's not all but it's the bougie, over-prominent ones that are sending out that reputation ruining shit for everyone else like The Real Milk and Honey. They're only concerned with clout, flipping over profit as fast as possible and not providing an enjoyable dining experience. Which speaking of RM&H, rumors on the internet streets is why they said they were closed for deep cleaning but doing take out was that there was a roach found on one of the tables.
As a business owner and someone who spent years in customer service; Negative criticism is just as valuable to a business owner as positive criticism. You’re not going to improve your practices by ignoring complaints, from staff or customers, and sure some negative feedback might not be warranted but your customers are your bread and butter at the end of the day their opinions should be valued if you want to provide the best service. And you should, that’s going to make you more money.
Keith has done the most to help struggling restaurants, be a good person, and reject any and all forms of preferential treatment. He doesn't deserve this
I don't do TikTok so I don't know who Keith Lee is but he seems to present as very honest and down to earth in his videos (from the clips you showed here). What a shame that he is getting threats and stuff over food reviews. But again, seems very down to earth saying he doesn't want special treatment and he is not a celebrity. So refreshing in a world full of wannabe celebrities who all think they are entitled to special treatment.
Not necessarily a comment on the situation - but I want to thank you for highlighting the words as you’re reading. It’s been in a few videos now, so I’m assuming it’s intentional. As someone who struggles to read without something like that to follow along, it’s made your channel even more of a safe space for me. Thank you Callum 🤍🤍🤍
I had to make a comment at the Milk & Honey. We have a couple out where I am. The first time I had even heard of them was someone telling me about these rules and I was immediately turned off from eating there. I just didn’t want to bother. Fast forward a couple of years, we’ve moved about 10~15 minutes from our old home and there’s one actually right by my house. (The one I’d heard about before is the one that’s like 2 minutes from my job.) Anyway, I finally decide to give the place a chance. It wasn’t even my experience per se that made me not want to go back but just from what I saw while I was waiting inside to pick up my food. I don’t know if all of them have this dish but there are two versions of this berry french toast, one that has alcohol in it and one that doesn’t. While I’m sitting there waiting, this lady comes in to pick up her order. She’s ordered the French toast without the alcohol. She’s quite polite as she explains to them that they got her order wrong (she called it in and they can’t seem to figure out how they got it wrong but it’s clear they did and, on top of that, she’s apparently ordered on a regular basis and seemingly the same thing). But aside from them getting it wrong, they also try charging her an alcohol tax when she had absolutely no alcohol in her dishes. From what I remember, she also talks about how she wanted extra whipped cream or something like that and she had asked for that when she ordered but they then decided to charge her for it because they forgot about it. The way the employees alone were talking to each other and everything. It’s kind of hard to explain but it’s one of those vibes that you can’t ignore when you’re there. It wasn’t right. The food was good but not at all worth me going back. Now, on top of that though, I remember a coworker telling me that there are two different Milk & Honey cafes. The owners used to be a couple and the wife owns a set while they husband owns a set. From my understanding, they’re run differently and all but yeah. Long story short, I only remember going to M & H maybe once or twice but it just didn’t feel worth me going back and I’m sure the locations near me are run owned by the husband. If I went to one owned by the wife, maybe it’d be different. I don’t know but yeah. Lol
Yeah the one that got in their feelings and was closed for the deep cleaning was The Real Milk and Honey. That's the one ran by the (ex?)husband. Milk and Honey has nothing to do with that nonsense but is unfortunately receiving death threats which no one should be receiving death threats.
@@redonyx5428 Interesting because I don’t think the ones near me are called that. We have Milk & Honey and then Milk & Honey Express. The coworker that told me about how they were run separately said that the one the wife owns is some distance from me. Just from the video alone she showed me and my mom, we could tell the whole vibe was completely different.
Keith hates priority treatment he just wants to try new food and express how he feels about it. He seems just so nice and genuine. He wants to actually help people and resturants.
i dont undestand the hate over negative reviews... its 2023, most positive reviews are FAKE or PAID FOR. a negative review is honestly the BEST way to get a good idea of what you're walking into. the thing is, you read/watch the negative review, and you take the most positive aspects, and that's what you can expect when you go/order.
I understand. Gave an honest review for my headphones. The online store was confused why I didn't give 5 stars. My headphones weren't perfect lmao I can't lie
I only understand the hate if the one star review was due to a customer acting entitled and not getting their way. If someone has a LEGITIMATE reason to leave a negative review, I don't understand the hate either
We had a restaurant that had gotten very popular. They open a 2nd location. Then they kept adding rules, & fees. To the point it actually got stressful to eat there. The parking lot used to be packed. Now you drive by you're lucky if you see two cars in the parking lot. I think they had a good thing going and they ruined it. My husband's cousin, wife & their 7 yr old daughter, wanted to go there & try it. It was during the week at 4:00 p.m., not crowded at all, we thought what could go wrong?? So there were four adults and one child. The saddest and a table meant for 8 people. The service was awful, they were slow & rude. We didn't say anything. By the time the food came some of our orders were wrong, when we told them, they were ready to argue. He told them forget it it's fine we'll eat it you were so hungry. As we were still eating our food they came over and said that 60 minutes was up. That we needed to wrap it up. They gave us the bill. They charged us an extra $50 fee for having a party of five. First we didn't know this rule. 2nd our fifth person is a 7-year-old child. Then they included a 25% tip. You had no choice whether you're going to tip your waiter or how much you were going to tip. Unless you wanted to tip more than 25%. There was another rule since all of us didn't finish, you could not wrap up to go. Lol, I guess they thought we were taking a little too long to go. So they made sure they came over and said if your car is not out of our parking lot in 15 minutes we would have to have it towed. We left there, not getting what we wanted, still hungry , stressed out, pressure to leave. Just add salt to the wound, we paid an extra $50, that we weren't aware of before hand. Then for our lazy, rude & getting our orders, we had no choice but to pay the $25 percent tip. This was a casual food place, we also didn't realize they raised the prices. It cost us a small fortune. We eventually laughed about it. We said we felt scammed & unwelcomed. Of course last time we ate there it wouldn't matter how good the food was. People that went months or a year later said , there were more rules, nobody really knew all of them so everybody was just waiting to get in trouble. Everyone stops going. Everyone question what happened? Their first location, reason why it had gotten popular because their food was good it was a friendly place and great service you felt welcomed. It wasn't pretentious. The entire experience was the reason why it had gotten so popular in the first place. I guess they forgot that along the way. First location closed down. The second location is a ghost town. Has to be closing soon. I just wanted to tell this story just to make a point. Yes, the food having to be good is a priority, but you can't treat people any way you want. Make them feel uncomfortable. As if you're doing them a favor, and allowing them to spend their money in your establishment. He didn't attack The Establishment he gave his honest review. He said it's just not for him. I don't know what they were thinking, when they reacted to his review in the way they did. I bet they probably wouldn't even have been affected by his review. Now how did they react that is definitely going to have an effect on who goes to their establishments.
When it comes to that first restaurant they don’t want you to order more stuff because they want you to pay and leave as soon as possible to maximize profit. So like having maybe 1 or 2 ordering more stuff would make them less money than a whole new table.
Never heard of the guy before but massive respect for not lording his celebrity status over staff and making sure people who waited longer than him got the service they waited for. How anyone can get annoyed about this is so strange.
Honestly im kinda sick of people having to prefix anything negative they have to say with "now dont go harass/message these people!" Because like the people who would do that arent going to be put off by being told not to People should be allowed to just say they didnt like xyz without being made responsible for online weirdos who make it their life goal to be as horrid as possible
I just looked the restaurant up and their Google score is decent but if you read the one-star reviews, they all say the same thing. Some from 2 years ago and some as recent as last week. Horrible service, terrible food, and weird rules.
Markie, when I first started watching you and I wasn’t expecting to like your content as much as I do! Not that I was passing judgement I just find you to be so much more in-depth than anyone else and it’s fucking refreshing! You’re awesome and feel like I can just tell you’re a good dude I feel like. Keep up your fabulous and diligent work!
Yes, he may say he doesn't like something, but he encourages people to find out because tastes are individual. Thanks for showing and commenting on this
i live in atlanta and i’ll say ordering food sometimes is a whole event like servers are so rude sometimes and i mostly just eat at home now 😅 im honestly hoping keith lee coming here will do good for the restaurant industry here
Got really caught up on that "no alterations to menu items (order something without the allergen)" (paraphrased) it's just so fucking wild. Is that normal in places? Like they can just tell you to fuck yourself if you need to alter a dish? Obviously this isn't a problem with just that one place, it's just really damn weird to specifically mention it and get (imho) uppity about not altering things even when it might be a safety issue for customers. Anyway good on this guy for having standards and being a decent human being.
Generally, you need a Michelin star before you can decline alterations and even then if you tell the front of house you have an allergy chef will usually make up a dish without your allergen.
Atlanta customer service is TERRIBLE. They are extremely rude, lazy and a lot of the poor treatment is rooted in racism and colorism. You have to know someone or be someone (have a huge following) in order to be serviced properly.
Thanks for the overview, I like the way he is trying to avoid the critic perks, I understand why restaurants do it, but if the food or customer service isn't good for the rest of the people at the restaurant, then the review doesn't apply to their client base.
I have never in my life heard restaurant rules like this. These are absolutely bonkers. I'm someone who does have some intense food allergies and I can't tell you how much I hate having no other option when I go out to eat I'm having a salad because that's all that doesn't things I'm allergic to in it. This would piss me off big time.
I moved to Atlanta from the west coast and yes, food and food service and rules are subpar compared to other states and even other cities in GA. Food comes cold, wrong, or not at all, you can be the most polite and easy customer but often you’ll get glares, attitude, or full out yelling, the prices for what you get are absolutely ridiculous, the wait times everywhere are egregious, restaurants will be closed randomly in the middle of the day or will only accept mobile orders with no warning, everything but McDonald’s and cookout is closed by 10 pm, I mean I can keep going. It’s unfortunate because I’ve been in Atlanta for going on 8 years and I love it with all my heart, but the food service disappoints me more often than not.
What an awesome, intelligent, humble guy! Keith's the kind of man, ironically, that those who are baselessly attacking him, would want on their side, if they could shine it in a good light... If they want to manipulate you that badly, that doesn't say much for their business!! Willing to treat him as a king, but you and I would still be treated like peasants, regardless. It's cool that Keith doesn't play that game, and that he still tipped the blameless waitress, and helps small, quality business get their names out there!! Markie is always bringing some interesting people to the channel!! His family supporting him like they do, is also really cool!! Take Care All, Amanda H.
MAD respect to Keith lee! A lot of influencers could definitely learn from him. It’s really upsetting knowing he’s getting hate for not being entitled LOL like ok when influencers/celebrities are entitled ppl get mad (fair enough) but when they’re humble and kind then they still get hate??? The internet is a horrible place man (especially TikTok)
This restaurant is ridiculous. I saw a review from a lady who waited at her table almost two hours for her drink. Now why she sat that long, Idk. 20 minutes and no drink for me is a get up and go. I can eat a pizza. If a restaurant is having an issue of people waiting over an hour often? On those days they need to require a reservation and give each party a reasonable reserved time, with a short fill-in line online. And every content creator has to face the crazy nasty trolls. They are human, and it’s impossible not to feel some of that. ♥️✌️
Im from the US. While I have never been to a super fancy restaurant every restaurant with hosts and waiters Ive been too including small businesses serve water and other drinks while a party is waiting for the rest, accomadte families, edldery, and the disabled when they are busy and let add ons on the bill like dessert because someone might not always want desert. Also if they don't have order ahead or takeout, it's on their website. WTF is wrong with these restraunts in ATL?!
“I tipped the waitress $500” this man is a blessing to the service industry and does not deserve any hate. The rules in Atlanta seem absurd. I’ve been a server in NC for over six years and the only rule I agree with is grat over parties of six. He seems like a genuine asset and advocate for the industry
I just got back from Atlanta with my boyfriend for work…….. WORST PLACE EVER! All people were hateful, crazy drivers and gross restaurants. I 100% believe this man was legit experiencing this!
I was recently in Atlanta. It was about 3 months ago. My husband and I did a weekend trip there. I can say I had some similar experiences. I have stomach issues so I don’t eat onions along with a few other things. We went to a restaurant in Atlanta and when I tried to order a sandwich without onions I was told I couldn’t and that I needed to choose a different menu item. So my husband and I left the restaurant.
Keith is doing exactly what he should. No one bat an eye when that one restaurant stayed ole late despite not knowing Keith and his family were the ones showing up. He asked her what her sales were for the day and matched.
I moved to ATL from the midwest, and the service is terrible, in general. Obviously, there are exceptions to the rules, but overall, people are kinda shi**y.
I love his approach to what he’s doing. He’s making sure that his experience is the same as anyone else’s would be. If he’s recognized, he does what he can to help those who are being left to just wait…and wait…and wait by requesting that they get their food before he does. If he’s getting negative feedback from people, I’d imagine that it’s from people who just like to “stir the pot” so to speak. I’ve never heard of him until now, but it seems that he’s an honest and genuine person. Traits that seem to be in short supply when it comes to those who have large followings on social media.
Keith Lee seems so reasonable that all this blowing up seems so weird. He is a food critic, you open a restaurant you have to accept that you will be reviewed. Also good for him for making sure that other punters are treated the same as him.
It sucks so much to see what Keith Lee has been going through. His stuff means a lot to me because I'm chronically ill and when it gets bad and I'm stuck in bed, I end up watching a lot of his videos- I didn't even know he was anyone famous! He's honest and seems genuinely nice and wants the resturaunts he visits to succeed, and he often makes it clear when he personally doesnt like something versus when it's bad. He doesn't deserve any of this, and I hope he's doing okay.
I also really appreciate how he refuses special treatment. He does his best to put orders in anonymously, and even if I'll never eat at 90% of the resturaunts, I love his honesty and the knowledge that if I go to the same place he has, I know what I'll get, roughly.
I love how Keith has a huge following but he still tries his best to stay humble. He seems very genuine. I’ve seen a lot of “influencers” say they would never let the industry change them. They all say that until they start making money.
keith lee is one of the most respected if not THE most respected food reviewer to come from tiktok, who not only reviews the food but also the inside of the restaurant as well as customer service and such. I think he's a tiktoker who is meant for youtube instead. imo he has videos that are more suitable for youtube now and not the tiktok platform. He doesn't deserve the hate he gets at all, and he is just 100% honest and open. I really enjoy his content as someone who loves culinary arts.
From what many people are saying, the city of Atlanta is notorious for bad customer service; how do they stay in business?! As a British person, one thing that I noticed visiting America is great customer service, so I don’t understand why people tolerate the opposite in a country where that's not the norm. Can anyone shed any light on this?
The reason why it's very easy to get the licenses to start a restaurant in Atlanta and some of these restaurants are owned reality tv stars because many of them live in Atlanta.
Idk who he is because I’m not on TikTok but he is completely in the right. He’s giving his opinion and wasn’t unnecessarily rude about it. Anyway, those rules are crazy. For me the only reasonable ‘rules’ are those related to dress code or reservations
Born and raised in Atlanta and I have never heard of special rules in a restaurant... Ok, I've watched over half the video. I've never eaten at The Real Milk and Honey. The owner is not from the South and he's not getting Southern hospitality.
I love his content. He is honest, kind and even when he doesn't like the food he makes it clear that no one should talk bad about the restaurant or harass them. I don't know how people can threaten others safety over food reviews, especially a family.
12:27 His celebrity comment is hilarious and he doesn’t even know it. Cardi B has said that she has to name drop herself to get service in Atlanta, and even then the service is shit 😭
I didn't know Keith Lee before this video, but from what I've seen, I don't understand what the backlash is for. He's giving honest reviews that, if I saw on Yelp or Google Review, I'd take seriously because it's someone's actual experience, and not a 5 star review to boost ratings or a 1 star review just to shit on the place (I generally trust 2-4 star reviews over 1 or 5 star reviews because they tend to leave more in-depth explanations about their experience) The way he's doing them is fine. He even encourages people to base their opinions on their own experience. He wants to give honest reviews, no malice, on places he eats, and if people respect his opinion enough to be considered a highly regarded food reviewer, that's within their right. And he respects people who may disagree with him (which may add to his credibility for some people)! He's actually one of the most honest AND least drama-seeking people on the internet, if you ask me. You don't often find people who are just sharing an opinion and leaving it at that on social media, and I respect the hell out of that. Literally, this is just people getting butt-hurt, and wanting to make a big deal out of a nothing-burger because they have nothing better to do apparently.
It's nice to see some people with a larger influence/audience advocating for those without that platform. It's a shame that this isn't a universal standard.
I live in Atlanta. He was honest. I’m going to subscribe to his channel (and yours). I’ve been to the real Milk & Honey restaurant. They were nice but heck of expensive for what we ordered and I left a healthy tip not realizing they already add gratuity. My mistake. Honestly I won’t be going back but it’s so busy, they won’t miss me. In general, customer service leaves a lot to be desired in the ATL. I really hope it improves. We deserve better.
That’s a tough one .. yeah I think it’s a loose loose situation like you said. I think the best thing is to just keep doing what he is doing because most people know he means well and is sincere
The people criticizing Keith Lee for “not using his clout” correctly are just admitting to the kind of insufferable “influencer” they would be if they had a following
He reviews food for a living 😭 (not actually but still) if a restaurant is that upset then honestly why are u even a restaurant? Everyone has different preferences and taste buds 😭
I’ve lived and worked in austin and Houston restaurants my whole life and some of these rules are industry standards. Automatic gratuity on parties of 5 or more is normal if the place cares about their workers getting tipped appropriately. As a host we would try to encourage guests to move to the bar or get the check if they were camping at their table once their food was done, but ONLY if we were really busy and we would tell them ahead of time if a reservation was booked after them. But we would never kick people out, it was just something understood and most people dining in got that. The no substitutions/changes thing is always harsh imo, unless it’s a special or something prepared to be enjoyed a certain way. Seems like ALMOST normal restaurant etiquette, but posting rules up is a bit weird tho imo. It’s assuming the diner doesn’t know how to act, which doesn’t make for a very welcoming or enjoyable restaurant experience. Personally, sounds like micro managing to me. If they can’t take an honest and constructive criticism then that’s their loss.
It's up to the restaurant staff to turn tables in a subtle way. You can't tell people, "Okay, here's your food the clock starts NOW!" That's not how proper restaurants work.
Not me running through the days of the week in my head looking for which don’t end with a Y… so you can’t have more than a party of 4 on any day? I’m so confused 😂😂😂
I live close to atl, OTP North. The biggest shock for me when going to a rest down there is how they give you the check mid meal, dont even ask if you are done or want a dessert. The waitress comes in, place the bill on the table and leaves, what if I want a to go order? What if I want to split the bill? Is very very odd for me.
I’m in the same area and was surprised at how many people say this is normal for Atlanta. Maybe it is for the city itself but I rarely eat in the midtown/downtown area. There is a lot of good service and good food in the area but maybe there are too many high ego restaurants ruining the overall perception.
I’ve worked at three restaurants that automatically added a 20% gratuity to the bill for four or more people. One of them this morning and we didn’t take parties larger than six but all of those other things are insane to me. That has to screw servers over when it comes to tipping. Some people are shitty tippers anyways they definitely aren’t going to leave a decent one if there’s some annoying rule place.

@@Elon_MosqueNot really. Most people support him doing his reviews his way. Weird comment to make.
@@Elon_Mosque you have the energy of someone who wants to yell hate speech without repercussions
**war flashbacks of Amy's Baking Co**
@@Macaroonsonaplateoh gawddd 🥴😱 lol 🤬 that place was awful!

Big agree, I hope this doesn't negatively impact his ability to make content and reviews - his honesty is brilliant and needed!
Right? He's giving some of the most REAL food reviews out there by showing his lack of food lol
I didn't know all restaurants didn't have these rules until I moved out of Atlanta!
@@coops9597 it’s my first year away from Atlanta and I thought the same thing.
I’ve lived in Jacksonville all my life and I’ve never been to a restaurant with these rules. Is Savannah like this?

As someone who worked in a small restaurant, those rules are fucking insane. I handled parties of 30, split bills, and we had a rule that if we couldnt have someone sat and served their food in 45 minutes, we would tell the customer. Ive never been to ATL but that sounds insane

I'm 2 years into living here and HARD AGREE!
@mindlessNatalia_as someone born and raised in ATL, just do some basic research on a restaurant before going. Google reviews is your friend.
That's a REALLY good point, lol. I read some reviews, and many of them are from people who have very long layovers in ATL before making it back home. You're so right.

Born and raised in Atlanta...I was legitimately concerned for Keith Lee's safety at that point. There are 2 sides to Atlanta-unfortunately. 😅

This was beautifully said and I agree wholeheartedly
Absolutely I think he’s probably one of if not the best possible influence on the internet. His attitude is genuinely something to aspire to have and watching his content has made me feel much calmer and patient in my daily life
Actually.. same
This is honestly bonkers. How are people mad at him for anything?? He seems like a nice, respectful, genuine guy.
For the person saying he wasn’t using clout correctly, I think helping others get service was using his social power correctly.
He’s also saved so many businesses from going under with his reviews, shame that everyone wants to focus on the negative
Also, you just know that the same person complaining about him "not using clout correctly" would probably be throwing an absolute fit about entitled celebrities if the video had shown Keith Lee demanding special treatment...
Keith Lee IS the gold standard of people using their clout! You go man!
Customer service in Atlanta is trash. But because most the food is pretty tasty, and certain spots blow up in popularity, people just deal with being treated that way and being charged crazy prices. Not all, but many places really do go too far and act like the customer is a nuisance and that they're doing YOU the favor by selling you food... that you paid good money for
Being at the airport was enough for me to NEVER set foot in the communities there. Toxic and hateful.

I don't understand how someone who is not being selfish gets hate!? Like what the hell
Standards are so warped I stg
i dont undestand the hate over negative reviews... its 2023, most positive reviews are FAKE or PAID FOR. a negative review is honestly the BEST way to get a good idea of what you're walking into. the thing is, you read/watch the negative review, and you take the most positive aspects, and that's what you can expect when you go/order.
I'm sorry but wtf?! That sounds unreal! Do they even want customers?
When it comes to that first restaurant they don’t want you to order more stuff because they want you to pay and leave as soon as possible to maximize profit. So like having maybe 1 or 2 ordering more stuff would make them less money than a whole new table.
Never heard of the guy before but massive respect for not lording his celebrity status over staff and making sure people who waited longer than him got the service they waited for.
How anyone can get annoyed about this is so strange.
I love that Keith sends his family in first, and bases part of his review on how they treated his family, not him. 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼

Keith Lee has turned my home town on its head the outcomes he has had at businesses is amazing!! The haters can come Vegas loves and appreciates him!!
I'm so happy Markie is covering Keith Lee.

I think that restaurant is what happens when you put up a restaurant for your spoiled, entitled kid.
Wtf are those rules??? 😂😂😂😂
I didn't know this dude but man, his ethics is so good- soo good he has earned a fan here. thank you for telling me about this Markie
Damn an influencer with a backbone? Love to see it 😂
Keith seems like such a sweetheart, the sort of person who does deserve clout
He seems so authentic and like a genuinely good person ❤
What a lovely guy to just want everyone to be treated the same.
Keith Lee seems so reasonable that all this blowing up seems so weird.
He is a food critic, you open a restaurant you have to accept that you will be reviewed.
Also good for him for making sure that other punters are treated the same as him.
This is a no start drama.
He was kind enough to say no serve the customers before me. What a kind man.
Wtf is wrong with people 🤷♀️
It sucks so much to see what Keith Lee has been going through.
He's giving honest reviews that, if I saw on Yelp or Google Review, I'd take seriously because it's someone's actual experience, and not a 5 star review to boost ratings or a 1 star review just to shit on the place (I generally trust 2-4 star reviews over 1 or 5 star reviews because they tend to leave more in-depth explanations about their experience)
The way he's doing them is fine.
People like Keith are out here holding up the internet on their backs, he’s a real one
Im actually pretty happy you covered this drama! You never miss.
I like that you chose a good picture of me to use in your thumbnail😂😂
I wanna hug his mama!! She did a dang good job raising a good man! 🩵🩵
I actually think the way he's handling everything is really good. No notes. You do you Keith Lee.
He reviews food for a living 😭 (not actually but still) if a restaurant is that upset then honestly why are u even a restaurant? Everyone has different preferences and taste buds 😭
Keith Lee is such a nice person! He supports small buisnesses and gives back to his community ❤
Screw that, there is a reason people do reviews... so I dont have to experience the bad side... They do that for me. Screw these restaurants.
I frequently visit Houston and this isn't normal industry standards in all the Houston restaurants I've been to.
It’s normal I’m not even in atl
It's up to the restaurant staff to turn tables in a subtle way. You can't tell people, "Okay, here's your food the clock starts NOW!" That's not how proper restaurants work.
never heard of keith lee before your video i like him now
Always a good day when Markie uploads 🎉
Petition to get Keith Lee and Gordon Ramsey tv show where they tour the US with their families and do exactly this. Have Gordon come in after Keith has gone in. They deserve the "you donkey" treatment from Gordon for treating this extremely kindhearted and knowledgable man Keith so sh*tty.
