Laura, I am a long time lover of Bare Minerals. Mineral Veil is not a setting powder. It is a finishing powder. It reduces shine and makes face makeup look more blended and smooth. Illuminating Mineral Veil is the same thing except it has shimmer to make you look more glowy. They both work best on top of the original Bare Minerals foundation, not a liquid or cream. I love it and have used their products for many years. Hope this helps.
For me liquid lipstick (any brand) is not good for me. If you eat anything with oil, butter, fat.... it smears all over. I rather reapply my fave lipstick.
Years ago when I first started wearing foundation and "real" makeup, my mom bought me all Bare Minerals products. In reference to your thoughts on the BM Veils, I dont really know how they would work with liquid makeup to set since I only used them with the mineral powders back then... But I do faintly remember my mom telling me she was told that the sparkles were supposed to "break down" as you swirl the product into the lid. (FYI: Bare Minerals whole system is that with all the powders, you pick up product with a brush, then you swirl the brush/product in the lid, and tap off the excess). I havnt used Bare Minerals in years, so I cant remember if that worked or not but it might be worth a try.
I have the mineral veil in the pressed form (I got it in a kit) and I use it to set my concealer. I just hit pan and I can't find where I can buy the pressed version by itself. Disappointed that the loose powder doesn't work the same😕
im the same way with make up, I don't buy it to collect. I like to use them and find ones I enjoy using. I also get rid of things often too to make space and its a waste just sitting there if its not used. :)

I don't have that yellow brightener but I imagine it would work if you applied it just below where the circles are under your eyes. You would need a pinky salmon coloured one for over the darkness itself because the yellow will only make it greyer. But as you have quite prominent cheeks just below your eye socket I doubt you need to highlight/brighten it further. Maybe in winter when everything's a little duller? Just don't add it to the blueish under eye circles.
I have dark circles also. My circles are blue so I use a orange/peach corrector then I'll put a brightening concealer over it. If I just put a bright concealer it will mix with the blue under my eyes and turn grey.
I was getting a lot of pimples and found out that alcohol was wreaking havoc on my skin and most setting sprays have alcohol in it. The smashbox one doesn't. Setting sprays aren't made for longevity of makeup. They are intended to 'melt' powders into skin. There is a really good TH-cam video on difference between setting sprays and fixing sprays that explains it. The smashbox one is doing what's its intended to do and is doing wonders for my Sahara dry skin. Hope that helps

It is my absolute favorite face powder. I like this type of video because you explain what you didn't like about it, I too shy away from anything that will look dry on my skin. Thanks for the video!
I agree with the Bare Minerals Mineral veil thing and I've been a Bare Mineral girl for over 10 years! I use a lot of their products but the Mineral Veil I just never understood, even when used over the mineral foundation. Very odd product. Very dry and chalky, almost dusty feeling.

For high end, YSL and Benefit lip tints are amazing. For drug store, it's better to purchase Korean lip tints from brands like Etude House, Innisfree, Aritaum, etc. You can buy Korean lip tints on ebay or amazon :) hope that helped

What was Urban Decay thinking with the colors for their concealers?!?! OMG! I tried a sample because my circles are WAY darker than yours, and I loved the finish of the product, but the color was off. In the summer, I am Mac NC30 which makes the PERFECT undereye color for me, but man, Urban Decay better come out with other colors. I'd love to switch to that one, but not with the current colors.
I actually like the garnier under eye roller, I just put two layers on. It's never cakey, never settles into my fine lines so it's perfect for me. I think the trick is to use a denser brush when blending so most of the product stays on your skin, don't use a fluffy brush. I also have skin tone similar to you:)
There is another Garnier eye roll-on in a squeeze tube that I swear by for under eye circles! The shade MEDIUM has a great peachy undertone and the consistency is so good, it is not even funny! I have an obsession with correcting under eye circles and discolouration and this is by far the best product for that because it blends very easily, has a thin but pigmented consistency, does not crease once set, and provides great colour correction and hydrates the under eyes. I would highly recommend that you try this one out and tell me what you think because I know you like your Armani corrector and this is a similar concept but a lot cheaper and contain far more product than the Armani one while doing a very similar job!
Thank you for this useful video! The bare minerals mineral veil is a translucent setting powder while the illuminating veil is a highlighter that could be used on the eyes as well as on the face. The mineral veil has no coverage but I suppose it contains spf 15 which could provide extra protection as a finishing touch on top of foundation if worn during the day. It has satin finish and is great for normal to dry skin. I personally love this one and prefer it to the illuminating one. Mineral setting powders are great because they won't clog the pores or irritate the skin if they work with your skin type. I hope this helps :)
the garnie undereye concealer i LOVE but NOT for coverage. I HIDE my dark circles and then put that over the top to finish the look off instead of powder, It has the most beautiful powder finish with a light coverage and keeps my concealer on. TRY it once you've covered your circles and put that over the top.

Agreed on the Garnier roller - so thin, goes on patchy, and is way too thin. Because of you, I've been using the Fit Me concealer in sand and think it's great. I also use Reserve Your Cabana to set it and it's a great combo! Love ALL of your videos and want to watch anything you want to share with us!!! I've bought a LOT of great products recently because of your recommendations and love that you also share the ways in which you use them, so I'm not blindly slapping product all over my face!

I'm still perplexed why makeup companies overly pigment their blush. It's blush!!! They need to get the formula right. If your specialty is makeup then get it right! lol Same goes for the gray tone concealers. I remember trying out the Cover Girl face powders and they were all that weird ashy gray, yuk. They had decent coverage though, but not worth the weird cast.

with the under eye concealers it's only cause you picked ones with PINK undertones. You are very yellow undertoned that they will only look grey, Some lines just don't make right colors for everyone. You would love the ALMAY undereye concealers, there for puffy eyes and they come in yellow tones. I love those and have been using the lightest shade for years now, I think you would need a shade darker than me cause I have yellow undertones but I'm fairer than you.
I've only liked the very metallic powder products from Kat Von D. The other stuff seems powdery and like it doesn't have enough filler ingredients in it.

i think the problem with certain products being too pigmented could be an issue for people if they're just heavy handed in general. I completely agree with the KVD contour palette but I learned to be more light handed with applying even the darkest contour pigment and it looks really nice! Mind you I'm a lot more pale than you so I'm sure if you tried applying it a light handedly and this goes for other "really pigmented" products you may have too!

This Garnier under-eye product is something like a BB eye cream, they actually came up with a BB for eyes which is basically the same product. I had it and didn't like it, I prefer to use my eye cream and Maybelline fit me concealer for more coverage
The garnier is supposed to essentially be a tinted under eye moisturizer. Not much coverage at all so only for ppl who don't have much darkness as an am moisturizer. I love it. I don't have much so it covers what I have well actually
I have a similar skin tone to you Laura. Try Bobbi Brown serum corrector to neutralise your dark circles and also they will have a great concealer to match your skin tone to brighten under your eyes. I'm glad you shared your opinion about the Kat Von D contour palette. :)
I have the kat von d shade and light but I really enjoy it. But then again I usually use mine with an eye blender brush to apply very little with precision. I'll go in with a face brush to with a less matte bronzer to blend it out. If I'm having a dry day I'll finish with a hydrating face mist.

I need to try that UD concealer! Every concealer (and foundation) that I try are too yellow or green. My skin tone must be really weird because I can use MAC painterly paint pot as a concealer lol.
Too bad, recently bought the naked UD concealer, and it is by far the best concealer colour match I have ever had, and I have tried tons of concealers. It is impossible to notice that I have concealer under my eyes as it matches perfectly with the colour of my face. For the ladies out there with strong pigmentation under the eyes and dark circles, this concealer does not crease under my eyes as all other concealers I have tried and it covers the affected area perfectly. Cannot be happier with my purchase. Hopefully they will expand the color range as I want absolutely every strongly prigmented under eye ladies out there to be able to use this miracle product :)
I use the primer water and actually like it. I don't know if it makes my makeup last longer but I use this as a moisturizer before I put on foundation. I have combo to oily skin. I spray it on and immediately put on my foundation with a damp sponge and I feel like it helps my makeup melt into my skin. That's just me. I had to use the light concealer in Naked skin. That color might not work for you but I found the darker ones to gray for my under eyes as well. I also blend the concealer in with my damp beauty blender.
Mineral,vail is a finishing powder that is suppose to give you an airbrushed look. I personally do not like it at all. Go to Shelby Ashburns channel to learn more about it.
I had a dreadful experience with Bare Minerals. I tried the foundation, the mineral veil.and the eye pigments. I kept thinking why does everyone rave over these, It covered nothing and the veil was shimmery. I don't want to sparkle.
Hi Laura, Just wanted to let you know the illuminating products for all over face are normally used for women 40-50 and over to make the skin look more youthful and not used in great amounts. You have also shown products that are used for older women that you really do not need.
I completely agree with you on the smashbox primer water! I feel as though it does nothing other than steal my moisturizer lol. I just got it but have used to too any times to return. Maybe I can find a use for it. Love you Laura!!
I use Bare Minerals Mineral veil as as setting powder under my eyes and its my favourite of all my high end products. I guess it's just a case of how it goes with skin types and colours.

I have the mineral veil, and I honestly look like a ghost after its applied. Sephora instructed me to use it as a setting after foundation and blush. I don't care for it myself.
Green and yellow or even the red or orange tone concealers are used make bags or dark circles instantly go away. They are used first under your foundation blended and then you put on your foundation. I have been using Bare Minerals for about 18 years. Mineral veil is used a translucent setting powder. It works better for oily skin to get rid of the shine.
Oh my gosh Laura you are so right about the urban decay concealers I thought I was the only one! I got two shades of it and neither work on me so I gave up. I do however really like the colors of the nars radiant concealer and use it in the shade custard. Great reviews of all these products can't wait for your lips/eyes one!
I have both of those baremineral powders and they are setting powders. I don't use them much because they are so messy. I have come to the conclusion that I don't like loose powder very much.
I actually love the BM original mineral viel for a airbrushed look all over the face. I believe the illuminating one is suppose to be used just as a highlighter.
I have used the garner roller in that same color on and off for years. I use it under my regular concealer almost as a primer and I find that it helps my dark circles stay concealed for a longer time. Try using after your foundation is on before your regular concealer. I know you use that Armani corrector so use it before that as well. It's hydrating
I think if a person brown dark circles under their eyes then a yellow corrector would work better than the salmon colored correctors. Most of the time when people talk about darkness under their eyes, they seem to talk about purple/blueish tones. For me, yellow works a little better than salmon, or a mixture of the two.
I can't believe you can return something that's been used! Over here you can only return a product that is still sealed! You can't try it then take it back!
I ordered the newest Maybelline concealer and it went back. It was so bad! Even the sales girl at Ulta said that it wasn't very good. The Fit Me concealer is head's above. I love that one and I know you do as well.
You can use the armani correcter first and then use the malee perfect thing whatever it is. And then set it with some powder under your eyes. Does that make sense? Try it maybe it will work
I absolutely adore the naked skin concealer but I think part of why is because it is a more cool to neutral tone. I always thought I was warm toned but after getting color matched at sephora I found out I am actually cool toned! Warm toned shades look nice on me when I have a tan but that's it! It is a fab concealer so I hope they release more olive toned shades at some point!

with the under eye concealers it's only cause you picked ones with PINK undertones. You are very yellow undertoned that they will only look grey, Some lines just don't make right colors for everyone. You would love the ALMAY undereye concealers, there for puffy eyes and they come in yellow tones. I love those and have been using the lightest shade for years now, I think you would need a shade darker than me cause I have yellow undertones but I'm fairer than you.
I've only liked the very metallic powder products from Kat Von D. The other stuff seems powdery and like it doesn't have enough filler ingredients in it.

i think the problem with certain products being too pigmented could be an issue for people if they're just heavy handed in general. I completely agree with the KVD contour palette but I learned to be more light handed with applying even the darkest contour pigment and it looks really nice! Mind you I'm a lot more pale than you so I'm sure if you tried applying it a light handedly and this goes for other "really pigmented" products you may have too!

This Garnier under-eye product is something like a BB eye cream, they actually came up with a BB for eyes which is basically the same product. I had it and didn't like it, I prefer to use my eye cream and Maybelline fit me concealer for more coverage
The garnier is supposed to essentially be a tinted under eye moisturizer. Not much coverage at all so only for ppl who don't have much darkness as an am moisturizer. I love it. I don't have much so it covers what I have well actually

I have a similar skin tone to you Laura. Try Bobbi Brown serum corrector to neutralise your dark circles and also they will have a great concealer to match your skin tone to brighten under your eyes. I'm glad you shared your opinion about the Kat Von D contour palette. :)

The mally brightener works best under your concealer... It's kind of an un-necessary step but if u want to make it work that's the best way!
I have the kat von d shade and light but I really enjoy it. But then again I usually use mine with an eye blender brush to apply very little with precision. I'll go in with a face brush to with a less matte bronzer to blend it out. If I'm having a dry day I'll finish with a hydrating face mist.

I need to try that UD concealer! Every concealer (and foundation) that I try are too yellow or green. My skin tone must be really weird because I can use MAC painterly paint pot as a concealer lol.
Too bad, recently bought the naked UD concealer, and it is by far the best concealer colour match I have ever had, and I have tried tons of concealers. It is impossible to notice that I have concealer under my eyes as it matches perfectly with the colour of my face.
For the ladies out there with strong pigmentation under the eyes and dark circles, this concealer does not crease under my eyes as all other concealers I have tried and it covers the affected area perfectly. Cannot be happier with my purchase.
Hopefully they will expand the color range as I want absolutely every strongly prigmented under eye ladies out there to be able to use this miracle product :)
I use the primer water and actually like it. I don't know if it makes my makeup last longer but I use this as a moisturizer before I put on foundation. I have combo to oily skin. I spray it on and immediately put on my foundation with a damp sponge and I feel like it helps my makeup melt into my skin. That's just me. I had to use the light concealer in Naked skin. That color might not work for you but I found the darker ones to gray for my under eyes as well. I also blend the concealer in with my damp beauty blender.
Mineral,vail is a finishing powder that is suppose to give you an airbrushed look. I personally do not like it at all. Go to Shelby Ashburns channel to learn more about it.

I got the Same problem with the bare minerals powers, I got a set of 4 with vail and the others ... It does absolutely nothing.. :/
I had a dreadful experience with Bare Minerals. I tried the foundation, the mineral veil.and the eye pigments. I kept thinking why does everyone rave over these, It covered nothing and the veil was shimmery. I don't want to sparkle.
The only advice I have is to contact the companies, and see what they say. I have combination skin, so I don't think they would work for me.
Mineral veil is meant to smooth out skin and refine pores. At least the original/tinted/spf. (coming from a girl that worked at Sephora for 3 years)
Hi Laura, Just wanted to let you know the illuminating products for all over face are normally used for women 40-50 and over to make the skin look more youthful and not used in great amounts. You have also shown products that are used for older women that you really do not need.
I completely agree with you on the smashbox primer water! I feel as though it does nothing other than steal my moisturizer lol. I just got it but have used to too any times to return. Maybe I can find a use for it. Love you Laura!!

I use Bare Minerals Mineral veil as as setting powder under my eyes and its my favourite of all my high end products. I guess it's just a case of how it goes with skin types and colours.
loved the video :) saved me the money I was planning to spend on that garnier roller... it's sooo hard to find a drugstore product that will solve the undereye problem for those of us with really really dark undereye circles and fine lines...
I have the mineral veil, and I honestly look like a ghost after its applied. Sephora instructed me to use it as a setting after foundation and blush. I don't care for it myself.
Green and yellow or even the red or orange tone concealers are used make bags or dark circles instantly go away. They are used first under your foundation blended and then you put on your foundation. I have been using Bare Minerals for about 18 years. Mineral veil is used a translucent setting powder. It works better for oily skin to get rid of the shine.
Oh my gosh Laura you are so right about the urban decay concealers I thought I was the only one! I got two shades of it and neither work on me so I gave up. I do however really like the colors of the nars radiant concealer and use it in the shade custard. Great reviews of all these products can't wait for your lips/eyes one!
I have both of those baremineral powders and they are setting powders. I don't use them much because they are so messy. I have come to the conclusion that I don't like loose powder very much.
I actually love the BM original mineral viel for a airbrushed look all over the face. I believe the illuminating one is suppose to be used just as a highlighter.

I have used the garner roller in that same color on and off for years. I use it under my regular concealer almost as a primer and I find that it helps my dark circles stay concealed for a longer time. Try using after your foundation is on before your regular concealer. I know you use that Armani corrector so use it before that as well. It's hydrating
I think if a person brown dark circles under their eyes then a yellow corrector would work better than the salmon colored correctors. Most of the time when people talk about darkness under their eyes, they seem to talk about purple/blueish tones. For me, yellow works a little better than salmon, or a mixture of the two.
I can't believe you can return something that's been used! Over here you can only return a product that is still sealed! You can't try it then take it back!

I ordered the newest Maybelline concealer and it went back. It was so bad! Even the sales girl at Ulta said that it wasn't very good. The Fit Me concealer is head's above. I love that one and I know you do as well.

You can use the armani correcter first and then use the malee perfect thing whatever it is. And then set it with some powder under your eyes. Does that make sense? Try it maybe it will work
I absolutely adore the naked skin concealer but I think part of why is because it is a more cool to neutral tone. I always thought I was warm toned but after getting color matched at sephora I found out I am actually cool toned! Warm toned shades look nice on me when I have a tan but that's it! It is a fab concealer so I hope they release more olive toned shades at some point!

You should try the Make Up Forever concealer for under eyes. It gives the perfect coverage and they have a wide range of shades.
The original mineral veil I used as a blurring and pore filling powder. There are better products now.
