This is one of the reasons I turn to your channel. You are on a journey testing scents. You are not chasing hype trains. Since this brand does not gift bottles , we didn’t get the usual stream of reviews from the “influencers”. I was interested in the white and black bottles but I got to try them in store and was not wowed by them. Thank you for your insights.
@@AngelMC11 thank you for watching! I don’t like chasing hype. Sometimes I get curious but I use the talked about pillars as mere beacons to guide my own path 😎
I do love how you have some alternatives at the end of your recent videos it is so helpful. I’m a big fan of the memo leather, I agree that Iberian is just a bit too intense, my preference is absolutely the Sicilian leather if you get a chance that is superb.
"Feels like it was built by an executive committee"... as someone who has worked with the executive suite and Board of Directors, I know exactly what this implies. Love this color/analysis!
@SeldomlyOften I'll consider a sample. I currently have a sample of Portrait of a Lady and a bottle of Radical Rose on the way, all based on your Radical Rose review. Really looking forward to them
@@foodethics great topic of discussion! I generally don’t think it matters in the real world. I like the idea of getting rare naturals but if the concept and final product is the same… I’ll put together a video idea 👍
Absolutely love this format of a review. And as usual, your options are spot on. Lonestar Memories is fantastic, I haven't tried the Memo one, but will fix that soon!
Love that alternatives section at the end. With all the spicy notes in the pyramid, methinks it might very well be built on a woody amber base this one, but I haven't sniffed it myself. In fact, I suppose I've always had the same approach to the brand as you, especially since L'Oreal owns it. Nine releases this year alone. 😑
Well, the base might be just that. The brand is really not appealing to me in general but this frag is actually pretty good. Stay tuned for next first impressions video featuring Falcon Leather, a better version of this :)
Great review. I have a sample of Armani Prive Cuir majeste and I thought the same thing. Beautifully blended, great smell however, not great performance and not very memorable. It's like a well dressed person that you start a conversation with and you find out they are sooooo boring. This is a fragrance that is only available at Harrods for over 400 dollars, which is not worth it for being not very memorable. In terms of leather I really love Kajal Sajwal. I'm also getting histoires de parfums outrecuidant, which seems to be an interesting leather fragrance. I have a sample of Lonestar Memories which is a great fragrance that I may be getting a bottle of.
Great video as always. If I had one piece of constructive criticism... consider keeping comparisons to the comparison section. I think it's better to hear how the fragrance makes you feel, rather than "it smells like Ombre Nomade." Keep up the good work!!
Thanks for the comment, I appreciate all suggestions! the comparison/options section is not for similar smelling fragrances, it's more about exploring options as far as vibe goes. The comparison with ON is there because it's a fragrance that a lot of people have smelled and it's a reference name in the genre.
This is an exceptional review, SO. And you hit the nail on the head about this brand. I have tried Armani code parfum. There is nothing wrong with it. A very linear, stable, very well blended perfume that traverses in citrus, violet category with iris holding things impeccably well. But there is no nuance, spike or note of interest that breaks the monotony. Needless to say, i have used it only during job interviews interviews, its that boring 😅 PS - the honorable mentions of leather forward fragrances was a great feature.
@@arunabhawasthi3745 thanks! Yeah Armani never really got me interested. I think the only true notable mention to give credit to is the Acqua di Gió as it’s a classic. Not everything has to be over the top characterful though, and that’s also ok 😊
@ i truly get you. What i mean about perfume being characterful is that it should be not plain jane boring especially if upwards of 200 dollars. Think TF noir extreme parfum when i say how character should be. It has depth, variation and enough mystery that you keep guessing how would the next whiff be. Its not loud, over the top or weird just for the sake
Black Knight, Lovers Tale and Dark side personal top 3 from her, dark side with black knight layered on top is also a very nice ( I almost never layer but some of hers have enough similarities )
A lot of this olfactory hobby is conditioned by UNIQUELY personal experiences. I was curious to hear of your ambivalence towards Armani perfumes. For example, I personally have had a fond memory of using mass-market Armani Armani in the late 1990's- which was the very first cologne I chose and bought for myself as a twenty-year-old heading to start my study at a US College. Naturally, I bought it at a mall, after trying fifteen or so colognes and hating all of em except Armani. It was the only smell (I think grassy) that I found to my liking. Amazingly, my choice was validated very shortly at the very first college party, where a beautiful artistic-looking girl complemented me after leaning in (the music was way too loud): "oh, you smelling so good!". Which felt great and remains one of highlights in my nostalgic memory (though its partially because later parties I recall less clearly...) I liked that grassy smell, especially since I have not encountered it in others as most guys at that time used metallic-smelling Boss or Dior. Curiously, I never bought another bottle of Armani. Since then I used Creed, Serge Lutens, Frederic Malle, L'Artisan, etc. Barneys NYC had the best collection of perfumes until it closed. Having tried a lot of perfumes, I still hate (I am not afraid of this strong word) any sweet-smelling perfume- especially the nasty roses, gardenias, vanilla, and all kinds of "sweaty" musks that tend to make people have this cheapo musty candy-odor as if trying in vain to mask a fly-trap-syropy odor of an old decaying skin... Now, one more comment for your "make-benefit" as Borat woyld say: - I like your reviews and approach. I should mention I still remember the time about fifteen years ago when for several years straight, The weekly New York Time Magazine used to publish Chandler Burr' reviews of perfumes. They were the only ones of their kind- written almost like wine reviews, brief and to the point, mentioning the "notes", but relying on metaphors to capture the essense: I still remember some of his observations that, for example, L'Artisan Dzonkha smelled like an old icon or an asian steppe- which captures its smell spot on. Even when he said of a perfume as a "bottled starfire", one could immediately understand that it smelled bright and spikey and sharp, etc. I think Mr. Burr spoke well of the house Armani, and did not shy away from an occassional criticism of some smaller artisanal houses that are now so beloved by younger reviewers like yourseld. In any case, I'd recommend for someone like you to seek out those older reviews and learn from them. I know he also wrote a book or two but those do not contain his short reviews. Cheers.
@@yoryteperman429 thank you so much for the lengthy comment. Really interesting to find out about the magazine that was reviewing perfumes, I wish it was still around. We really need a lot more well written content about this, as much as the average person can have good knowledge, a professional point of view with an edited writing style is always a pleasure to read. I’m not too crazy myself about the house of Armani just because I don’t really like their marketing and I don’t really like their presence on the market. As and as shallow as that may sound, it really affects my vision and judgment about a brand.
Armani as a clothes brand might be considered nondescript but in terms of Armani Prive it's remarkable and unique or it's niche-style fragrances starting with Bois d'Encens onwards. It's way different from regular designer line which is boring. Take your eye on Bleu Turquoise (my favourite), Bois d'Encens, Cuir Amethyste, Cuir Noir and Magenta Tanzanite. I'm pretty sure you'll find something for yourself. The design of the bottles is just as good as it gets (don't think that plastic cap can be a dealbreaker). Armani Prive definitely stands out on a market.
Oh Armani fragrances ! They are unique and wonderful in their scents. But if you want them to last. You better wear the bottle around your neck and reapply it every 20 minutes. Because that is as long as they will last on you....
