Dadaloglu is a Turkish poet who lived in 18th century. Dadaloglu means 'the son of impeccant/bumpkin'. This was his pseudonym name. Dadaloglu lived in the mountainous areas of south Anatolia. He was a member of a nomadic Turkmen tribe named Afshar tribe. Ottoman government in the first half of the nineteenth century decided to settle down the nomadic Turkish tribes to end the tension between the nomadic tribes and the settled people. They were given agricultural land. But most of the tribe members preferred traditional nomadic life style and struggled against the Ottoman high commander. Dadaloglu was also in the struggle and in his poems, he reflected the feelings and the reactions of his people. In his verse, Decree is Sultan's, mountains are ours. This is what he was repeating in this song.
i can back this up cause i am related to the guy actually (of course by a few percentage since the years). he was one of the nomads there (who were both warriors, herders and bards)

It's interesting that no one has suggested " Erkin Koray Bir Eylül Akşamı" yet or you haven't seen. This song's infrastructure is the same as an internationally famous rock band's song. Also, Erkin Koray once said that he was working and playing with famous composer Orhan Gencebay till mornings.

You know, Turkish History thousands years long. Turks have lots of limbs and culturel lines. One of them named Yoruk. Yoruk word derived from yurumek means walking. Yoruk word derivative of walker. Because Yoruks migrate between summer and winter seasons walk long distances so they are migratory people. Dadaloglu is a Yoruk Person, born around 1785. The Turkish Sultan of the period orders the Yoruks to stay where they are. And Dadaloglu ansers him: IF the ORDER Sultan's, mountains are ours. This is a defiance against Sultan. Sort of folk hero.
I think the man would be very surprised if he knew that this song had something to do with the war of independence of the United States and the independence of the United States.
Pro tip: whenever you see this letter “ğ”, act like it doesn’t exist. Don’t try to pronounce it. Read it like this: “Dah-Dahl o-Loo”. The first part should sound like you’re stuttering. Like d-duh.
