The performance of this Polo might surprise some people on the streets at a first glance
Great little car and build, but I think a Stage 3 S1 with its Haldex “4 wheel” drive system would perform better on our wet B roads.

Got the same engine as him but i have the golf sportwagen, the XL polo lol, i have 300hp 312tq. These engines are really fun to modify.

These IS38 turbo GTI polo are no joke because of the weight, stage 3 polo GTi DSG was just slightly slower than my Stage 2 A35 AMG
A properly tuned is38 polo gti should leave a stage 2 A35 in the dust

Just in the process of going for 500 wheel h/P with my 6c gti. It’s engine out job to get that kind of power as stock motor will not take much more than 400. Aiming to make it 2.0 with forged rods and pistons with full valve kit. Not a cheap build with just about everything having to be replaced

I don't own a golf r and never have , but I have a 950kg 300whp fwd and can tell you with experience a good power to weight ratio still has the limiting factor of traction .
This might get a stock R on a roll that's about it , put it in some tight bends it's going to understeer or against modified R in roll from 80 or 90 kmph it's going to get flogged if it doesn't hook up at the start of that roll .
@@davidgriggs3967 i see where you are coming from but these polo gti's don't weigh anything near 950kg - at 1200kgs + good tyres they have enough weight to dig in to the road at 400hp without crazy traction issues
@WaseemKhan-iu4bh That extra torque and hp would make it pretty even power to weight against my car , well in a roll anyway .
Traction is showing to be an issue in this video in 3rd gear and you can tell he was progressively getting on the throttle in 3rd where it was wondering all over the road.
This car doesn't look like it has 400, but the problem could be in the driving

No ? From a roll this is gapping the shit out of a stage 2 golf , they run high 8s at 380-400 bhp on the 100-200. Stage 2 golfs are in the mid - high 9s
Definitely. On back roads, around corners and off the line the R is destroying this polo. Spinning isn’t winning. You spend the same money on the R and the polo stands no chance.

this reminds me back when we used to bleed valve cars back in the 90s so when the boost came on it was hilarious its a similar style of car front wheel drive and lots of boost. those michelin pilot sport 4s wont last long i get 5000 miles out of them on my car

@georgealexander532 I don't own a golf and have never owned one , I own a fwd under a tonne with 300whp and know how hard it is to get traction even a roll race .
Should have spent money on an lsd, brakes and suspension.
But its not though...A Golf R with same power would easily compete. All down to the driver. Simple as that

When he gets older he will go to a Golf. Polo’s are fine in a straight line, but the suspension is poor in comparison. Also the stock IS38’s are as strong as chocolate, mine popped within 4 months of ownership from new on my R, so went straight to stage 3.
Just to confirm, my R was a 2018 7.5R and not an early mk7. The IS38 is known for its failures after tuning.

I used to own a 6C 1.8TSI Polo GTI that was "Stage 3" IS20 swapped/upgraded (turbo from the MK7 Golf GTI's)
IS20 Polo's can run anywhere from 300-330bhp (hardware depending)
IS38 350bhp+ (hardware depending)

@@noahhammill5781 i was looking at its plate 2012 but guessing its actually newer then as the 2012 was 177bhp but you are right a lot of cars run more than they state. my rcz is supposed to be 200 stock but when we rolling roaded it was 218bhp in stock form now mapped stage 1 with 248bhp.
They are slightly underrated from factory so most of them do actually make around 200hp...a simple tune with some bolt ones will see you around 265hp.
Upgrade the turbo to a golf R one with an intercooler and you can easily get to 400hp.
