Ken Wilmshurst had a bit of an advantage in the Physical Ability round - he was an Olympic athlete. He had two Commonwealth gold medals to his name, winning them in the long jump and triple jump events at the 1954 Commonwealth Games in Vancouver. He died in October 1992 aged 61.
Bit of an Easter egg in the Intelligence round. The chessboard is 6x6, and 36 (the number of squares on the completed chessboard) is the atomic number of the element Krypton.
I'm an American that until recently had never seen or heard of this show, but I have to say I love the format. Would enjoy a revival of it.
