- Come along on our family trip from Penang to Gopeng, Perak, for a memorable Deepavali Day getaway! We started our journey with breakfast at Sri Nibong Cafe, known for its fantastic koay teow th’ng. This popular kopitiam offers an array of delicious dishes, like wanthan mee, yong tau foo, and economy rice, making it a favorite spot for locals on weekdays. With a great start, we headed off south via the 2nd Penang Bridge, taking about two hours to reach Gopeng.
With some time to explore before checking into our homestay, we visited the HOGA Valley Gaharu Tea Plantation. This unique plantation spans 200 acres and was started in the ‘90s by Japanese and Malaysian entrepreneurs, showcasing amazing agarwood or gaharu trees. After the tour, we checked into our spacious homestay near Gopeng town, perfect for our group of 12.
We wrapped up the day with an early dinner at Restoran Kristal Jade, where we enjoyed fresh river prawns (udang galah), steamed catfish, fried tilapia, and other local delicacies. What a fantastic first day! Stay tuned for Part 2 to see more of our Gopeng adventures!
Great trip! I miss Gopeng
Lovely little town, love the slow pace and relaxed lifestyles here!
I enjoy this type of videos. I hope you can showcase more of these hidden gems area. Didn't know there's a place to visit in Gopeng. I really thought this place is dead. I enjoyed the video you made last time as well when you travel with your big family to a place, I forgotten the location, but I remembered the 1 bathroom you all have to share in the homestay house. All these types of videos really show there are so still so many interesting places to visit in Malaysia.
I went to Gopeng because it was so nice at Lenggong, the last place in Perak we visited. We found out that Gopeng has a lot of natural beauty too, nice rivers and can even go white water rafting if you like those sports! Wait for Day 2, we go to another agrotech farm which is interesting!
The stall selling Chee Cheong Fun and Chai Kuih, Yong Tau Fu, CKT and Fried CCF at Sri Nibong cafe is good.
Oh yes.... almost all good at this kopitiam
I am Penang Lang,I never go to Gopeng even I went to Kampar every month to visit my son that study at UTAR since 2017(Elder son & younger son). Thanks for sharing this video,I think I will arrange for the Gopeng trip for next trip to Kampar.
Thank you! It is the 1st time for us too... I love the relaxed life of these small towns. We went to Lenggong a couple of months back and it was really beautiful... like I was back in the 70s. I still have a couple more videos to edit for Gopeng, so stay tuned!
