    Thank you for creating this video! I’ve created a couple of small pieces just using joint compound on canvas and then painted them using acrylic paint and they’ve held up for 9 years so far. But I want to create bigger pieces so I’m thinking of using wood panels so they don’t sag.

    Do you use the sculptmold as a first layer/ fill because it's lighter than the compound? Suggestion, use a dark color font when laying it over a white surface (and, I think "Wet" is the word you want, not "wetted" :)

    • @artwithandrews7267
      @artwithandrews7267  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. It is faster to form and doesn’t crack like thick drywall mud often does.

    This looks lovely!!! But what is a joint compound??

    • @artwithandrews7267
      @artwithandrews7267  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is also called mud. It is what is used to patch drywall and cover seams/joints between drywall sheets.

    Is the sculptamold necessary or could you have just used the joint compound?

    • @artwithandrews7267
      @artwithandrews7267  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! No, the sculptomold isn’t necessary but I find it speeds up the process a bit by building the sculpture up more quickly.

      @ARTwithAndrews thank you SO much for your response! I love your art and am trying to learn to do this. I know it’ll take lots of time and patience. But knowing what products to use is very important. Thank you SO much for your help and for sharing your amazing art!

    Do you let each layer dry before putting on the next layer? When you are shaping do you have issues with chipping?

    • @artwithandrews7267
      @artwithandrews7267  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually both. Joint compound can be applied on wet or dry but I usually add water to the dry areas before. Chipping does occur, especially in small areas but I just add more joint compound and refine.

      I used sculpto-mold, a mixture of paper and plaster for the general shape, and joint compound on top for smoothing and details.

    What is joinet compound????

    • @artwithandrews7267
      @artwithandrews7267  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is also referred to as mud. It is the compound that adds texture to the surface of drywall in most homes in the United States. It’s really inexpensive here. Thanks for watching!

    Quick question.. do you coat it with anything once finished to prevent cracking?

    • @artwithandrews7267
      @artwithandrews7267  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Actually no I don’t and I haven’t had any issues yet with finished works cracking. Thanks for asking Linda!

    What is joint compaund?

    • @artwithandrews7267
      @artwithandrews7267  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ira. Joint compound is also called mud. It is the compound that is applied to drywall in houses that fills holes, covers joints, and gives it texture.
