- A fascinating documentary film showing how British artist Victoria Ellis carves a fine bas relief figurative clay mural. The film covers the entire process, from initial design right through to the final glazed mural. On the way we see how she carves the clay using her custom-modified tools and her methods for preparing the glazes.
More of her work can be seen on her websites: www.victoriaell...

Speechless 😶 beautiful art
Beautiful relief! Very inspiring! greetings from Argentina!
Beautiful, I used to work for Ken Mason Tile Company and really loved painting tiles, in between orders I would make my own designs on blank tiles and do portrait paintings of the other workers wives and girlfriends for them. I made fresco pieces of both of my dogs and a beautiful Mucha design that came from his unfinished works design book. I would love to have you as a teacher and learn how to do carvings such as yours they truly are amazing.
Beautiful art work indeed with lots of love in it, thank you for this show!
The artistry of this lady! So very, very skilled!!
fascinating how it is done. so beautiful.
Wow what clay is this even so beautiful
This is an amazing piece of art!
I'm really impressed by the patience and dedication the artist put into this.
How long did it take to make it?
Vic had already made her drawing and prepared the clay slab when I started filming, but the carving process took two days and the glaze painting took another day to do. So if you include the preparation it was about four days in all, I think.
I wished I had the stuff to do that I would be good at that so beautiful and therapeutic
you have elevated the art. thank you
You’ve given me a 💡 moment: doing this same technique but on polymer clay and leaving out the glaze section ~ then after backed in my timer oven ~ attach a small wooden drawer knob for handle ~ then like magic: rubber stamp, or embossing plate, texture plate maybe !! Ty and ty for inspiration!
You have opened up my eyes to an absolutely amazing art form . Thank you so much for posting . Your work is inspirational.
God bless you
Just seeing your artwork can calm any tensed person
You are blessed
Lots of love

Thank you so much you have helped me decide what I want to do when I'm older thank you
music overpowers your voice but your work is just lovely. Reminded me of highschool when the art teacher had us do that kind of work. Nothing that complicated or lovely but we were proud of our first try. I am truely impressed.
Absolutely mind-blowing and beautiful: your talent, patience and long hard fine work - congratulations and thanks for putting this up!
So much work, lovely
amazing work - came across this video by accident - wow what a talented artist. Glad I watched and experienced the process....
Bravo ... it's a marvel! Great finesse, beautiful pastel colors, and the face is so perfect !!! I am admiring ... I have done a lot of work of the earth, it is something that I like a lot and I know what it requires of patience and precision ... You are a great artist !!! !!!!
awesome talent you have.. it's really beautiful.
beautiful..just beautiful ...i have no word to describe your Art ...other than beautiful. it really inspiring. love it.
thank you! Lovely comment
this is a true masterpiece! I'm making small geo bas relief tiles and it's sooo hard! I've nearly pierced thru the tile, its so uneven and keeps drying out! it's very stressful but addictive so I'll keep going!! I wonder do you ever use water to smooth or simply tools? I've used a small wet brush where I've gone wonky a few times. you make it look so easy bravo madam :)
Hi do keep going it just takes time really to master the depth thing! I do use a damp sponge sometimes to take the sharp edges off but mostly just tools as too much smoothing can take the detail away. Don't let it stress you out the more you relax into it the freer your hand will be. Most of all enjoy!!
Victoria Ellis thank you for taking the time to reply. I've found your tips very helpful, I now use fountain pen/paper instead of attempting freehand and I'm pleased with my little sri yantra tile! let's hope it stays intact during firing!! I'll aim for pleasure rather than perfection as I'm sure you have spent many years honing your skills. any other videos on technique would be awesome thank you, elizabeth x
A pleasure, I'm afraid it is just time well certainly it was for me anyway as to another video not certain as would probably end up repeating myself! Good luck with the firing will keep my fingers crossed - always a scary time for me! x
put your clay , into a bag / a separation/ then a wet towel. place in a cold area/cool area when not working (the wet towel will act like a humidor keeping moisture in the immediate area, slowing/ stopping the clay loosing its moisture)
So, so...I'm speechless. Beauty has this strong efect in me.
Thanks for sharing so much beauty!
Wow. very incredible detail!! I understand the amount of time and patience that go into such classy pieces of art , incredible share, Karen Wheeler, Vernon Canada
Maestra victoria, gracias por compartir su naturaleza artística al detalle,la paciencia, la observación .... abundancia, prosperidad, amor, salud,, alegría, armonía...para ud y su familia...hare krishna

Woww its lovely. I didn't know how they were made. Its extremely superb the video has shown how it is made and the efforts of maker and it's also created Interest in us. Thank you for sharing this.
I wonder how many hours takes from start to end. amazing work. just marvelous
What an incredible patient artist you are. Awesome
You are truly an artisan.
Stunning! Priceless work!
Beautiful piece. I have no experience with clay myself, and I wonder how you keep it from drying while you work.
+Sofía Paolini Stikel Victoria covers sections of the clay with plastic to stop it drying out, and sprays it occasionally. I think she might use vinegar, but I'll have to check.
Wow, that outcome is so gorgeous!! Such talent, and patience! Lol
Love the video...ouch the music...
ms ellis your work is amazing.. the precision with which you do the detailing..

Thank you for sharing your talents... Very clean work. You are a Master.
Omg that’s absolutely incredible 😱
Extraordinary!
Beautiful. Might have to try this on some pottery. Won't be as beautiful as hers but I can try.
Lizzy krueger you can use low bake polymer clay I'm not sure if they make low temp glazes for use on that type of clay but you can paint the clay most people use the low bake polymer clay BECAUSE they don't have access to a ceramic kiln or they can't afford the cost of operation for the kiln
Lizzy krueger Did you ever?
@@theantichrist6524 good advice. Do you recommend any Web site to buy from?
beautiful work and great film of the process
