Precure Fights Go Insanely Hard

- Find someone who puts as much effort into you as Toei does into selling plastic tat to little girls
This video made possible by the fine users of Sakugabooru, because this doesn't convince me to actually watch Precure
Song: The Only Japanese Goblin I Know For Real by TripleQ • The Only Japanese Gobl...
On suggestion from the comments I have added credits via the closed captions. I should have done so from the start.
non japanese thinks that precure is simply a little girls show, not realizing its literally one of the biggest media franchise in japan rivaling even that of one piece
I remember reading about Oda's daughters like precure more because of having less characters and story isn't extremely long
Fun fact: Pretty Cure apparently makes 10 BILLION YEN every year. Although that's mostly because of toy sales.
whoa!
i mean, it can be both. being aimed at little girls doesnt make it any less valuable
And both are animated by the same company (Toei animation)
I didn't expect that precure girls just did throw hands.
That's exactly what sets it apart from other magical girl shows.
They have alot of combat fighting too. :)
Fun fact: Daisuke Nishio, director / storyboard of the original Precure series, was also the director for almost all of Dragon Ball / DBZ. The premise of the first Precure was that the girls could only use magic when they were together and would have to do martial arts punch ups until it was time for the finishing move.
Wonderful precure: love and friendship!
Precure often gets talked about alongside shows like Super Sentai and Kamen Rider, and for good reason. It's not just because they air in similar time slots. Rather than thinking of Precure as shonen for girls and comparing it to things like Dragonball or MHA, it's more like Precure is tokusatsu for girls; wild, hot blooded, henshin heroes that speak with their fists and never give up in the face of evil. If toku heroes are the warriors of justice, then Precures are the little sisters of justice.
I’ve always seen magical girls shows and tokusatsu shows as two sides of the same coin, especially the ones made by Toei(and distributed by Saban Brands for some), such as Power Rangers/Super Sentai, Sailor Moon, Pretty Cure/Glitter Force, Kamen Rider/Masked Rider, and Metal Heroes/VR Troopers/Beetleborgs!😄😏😎
they run on some of the same tropes as sentai too. It's honestly baffling how sentai only crosses over with kamen rider and not a fellow kaiju-esque (ultraman) or fellow henshin team like precure (ik it's animated but *we can find a way*)
@@theraginginfernape9496 Admittedly, Precure does do a decent number of crossovers with Kamen Rider. Be it little one shots where one of the main cures marries KR Wizard, or short manga anthologies like the Healin Good x Kamen Rider Ghost one
People who don't watch the show forget that Precure was like this from the start. Nagisa and Honoka in particular are experts at throwing hands.
You didn't hear no spell? That's cause the fight ain't over yet!
I love how people dismiss Precure as a show that’s just for girls when it had this level of consistency with it’s action. So much better than Dragon Ball.
I think a big part of it is also that elite animators are actually excited to work on Precure, because they get to start with character designs made for animation and a much looser style guide. You can tell that everyone working on, in particular, Heartcatch Precure was having fun because they got to do a totally different artstyle and go off model at will with cartoony stuff.
Even if you did bring in the best key animators in the world to work on Dragon Ball or One Piece or whatever they basically have to stick to the identifiable models and styles and animate a fight and power set that dozens of other animators have been doing for decades. Less to work with and more to work around.
@@TheBellman Not to mention the fights in manga adaptations having a lower "density" since the directors never rework the action to suit the screen.
So instead of tediously animating one fight stretched across three episodes, they can concentrate their efforts into three minutes of glory.
I love Precure because I have always wanted to be a princess. Not a damsel in distress on but a powerful one
Go Princess may be the season for you.
I've wanted to be a magical girl ever since I watched Smile Precure (aka glitter force) back when I was 8.
@@Yume-AW Dang, I feel old now...
@@matt0044 yup I watched it but I love Hapcha the most
@@Yume-AW same that's how I found precure
Just a reminder:
All these clips are either from the very first episode, a pivotal story moment, the final story arc, or a movie.
In a franchise where each series have around 50 episodes each, it obviously can't keep such high quality for *every* episode, so they need to focus on the times that will get most monetary return.
Not to say that the other fights are bad, just that they might not have as much of an "impact" as these.
These definitely are some of the best fights from across the decades of Precure, but my impression is that Precure generally has an exceptionally high production value vice the long running mass market shounen series you might compare it to.
And that's why the term "Sakuga" exists
The Yes 5 fight is from a random semi-filler episode about Urara (yellow one) trying to win a talent audition. The Sammurai fight is also from an episode in the middle of its season which is debatably a filler since no major plot progression happens apart from meeting some badass Sammurai. Can’t speak on the other ones because those are my fave seasons and the ones I’m most knowledgeable on.
It varies from season to season really, but I can confidently say that Futari Wa, Max Heart, Splash Star, Smile, Heartcatch, Go Princess and Huggto had great fight scenes in most of the episodes. All of the All Star and DX Movies have excellent fight scenes in pretty much all of the scenes too as well as the serial movies.
that match cut at 0:50 is so satisfying
Yea lot of this video ended up just letting the animation speak for itself but I kindof stumbled on that cut accidentally in editing and it cooks
NOTE: Ex Fight Choreographers for Dragon Ball Z's Anime Run wound up working on the earliest Seasons such as Futari wa when this Franchise started.
To anyone confused as to WHY Precure is like this? The idea was basically to make a non-lewd Cutie Honey. Cutie Honey wasn't even meant to be a magical girl show, it's a Robot Hero show (like Cyborg 009 or Kikaider) but with a female lead and was mostly aimed at boys. However it became somewhat popular with girls too despite its lewdness and had a massive impact on magical girls going forward so it became an honorary magical girl show. When Sailor Moon finished its run, they decided to replace it with Cutie Honey F, basically a more family friendly aimed-at-girls version of Cutie Honey (which was still quite true to the source material). However, due to Cutie Honey's infamy, parents were a bit uncomfortable with their kids watching Cutie Honey F, so someone said "Lets do something like Cutie Honey but not" and that was Futari wa Pretty Cure!
...at least, that's how I understand it went down. Oh and yes, some seasons are even written by tokusatsu writers.
Fights in Precure can go harder than even Jujitsu Kaisen, ngl
Woah there cowboy, harder than jjk,Let's not get too crazy but they are better than a good majority of one piece
As a fan of both, yeah, you right
@@Lordmaster135 Precure have literally the best fights after dbz, so he's right
@Lordmaster135 One Piece fights are pretty good though.
As someone who has watched both, I agree 😂 idk the Precure fights got me so hyped
Go princess had one of the best fighting scenes
CURE YELL ATEEEEEEE IN THAT SCENE
Her pom pom attack is so cool and unique.
I'm surprised that Cure Beauty's fight with Joker in Smile Precure wasn't included here.
0:50 That transition from Futari Wa to Heartcatch was amazing
This video might be what finally convinces me to watch precure
1:31 Cure Majesty's part was immaculate!
Damn, guess the animation director wanted to work on a shounen show.
The choreographer for the very first Pretty Cure series' combat also worked on Dragonball Z.
Actually, the producer of the first show wanted to make a Kamen Rider for little girls
@@ViolentinthedaylightYeah the first two seasons are by Nishio, director of Dragonball Z. And the 4th and 5th films are by the director of One Piece from 2019 to current day. ❤
i really wouldn't have guessed that the precure target audience (young girls?) would be interested in highly choreographed fights/beat downs, but oh what would i know
I think the target audience is actually dudes that love watching girls get their shit kicked in
Highly choreographed fights can be for everyone
as a former young girl i would have loved coreographed fights
@@brianbuttface Me too
Have you ever had to interact with young girls? They're just as vicious little violent shits as boys.
Precure is literally so popular in Japan. Wish it was in the west too.
Alt title, every girl is bayonetta
I am a guy who grew up on DBZ and Sailor Moon so this franchise is my new guilty pleasure because its the best of both worlds hands down just trying to get the homies to understand like One Piece too many episodes but slow and steady wins the race also I'm American not Japanese this show needs respect in the west.
Every magical girls:use any weapons with magic of friendship
Precure:nah i'll do my own thing
THE MEME AT THE END 😭
The pedo joke at the end can easily apply to any fiction that features drawn young protagonists lol
This is what I always show my friend every time. They say a magical girl, can't box?
the only magical girl shows i've seen are sailor moon when i was a kid and madoka magia. I'm guessing they make an insane amount of money from merchandise that lets the show look like this, kinda like how every gacha adaptation looks insanely good.
Well, unlike meguca (though that's a completely different beast with a completely different target audience) and sailor moon, Precure has been running for about 20 years uninterrupted, much like their Toei kids' morning block brother franchises (Kamen Rider and Super Sentai).
The impression I get is that Precure series end up being flagship projects at one of the biggest studios and elite animators are excited to work on one of the biggest anime in Japan.
@@TheBellman Not only that, it also applies to CG as well. Stuff like the DB Broly movie are entirely owed to Precure's progression in CGI animation (for better or worse).
I honestly had no idea that precure had this level of animation! I need to start watching now lol
Nanoha also has epic fight scenes, and I would consider Symphogear a magical girl show so that one is also peak.
Nanoha doesn't use combat physical fight that time. Only with weapon. But pretty cure uses physical combat fight.
The newer spin offs did actually did hand to hand magical combat, which could get pretty brutal @@933roastduck
I love pretty cure action has lots of physical attacks and dynamic movements rather than recycled animation of magic attack like in sailor moon
They have mastered the art of the Almighty dropkick😂😂😂. They coming in like mortar bombs
I like the idea pretty cure dress pretty sirh nice skirt and heels and hair to have intense combat fight. Love it.
When they first revealed the character designs for Go!Princess I was like "there's no way they're gonna be able to have good fights with these outfits." Then episode 1 comes out and 0:00
@@GapingGorble Shingo Fujii is just built different
Throwing hands hard!
Also final fight of splash star is one of the best climaxes in franchise
Precure has always been great ❤️
As much they use their magical powers sometimes but they can also throw hands too without the use of their magic powers

I like how this is some of the most over used precure fight scenes you see across TH-cam but not even set to a pretty cure song
The audience isn't really Precure fans.
I like how the meme at the end tries to suggest that shounen fans aren’t mostly pedos
@@wren5240 hehehehehehehe
Suite Precure is rerunning on Disney Channel Japan
i absolutely adore every 'newly transformed cure panic dodge jumps away from monster without realizing their power level and ends up 3000 feet in the sky' moment. precure just doesn't feel like precure without at least one scene like that.
“I got this new idea for an anime. It’s basically Sailor Moon, with Dragon Ball Z fight scenes. And it changes every year like Sentai and Kamen Rider. And the girls are slightly more loli-ish.”
“That sounds like every stereotype of Japanese pop culture thrown together with no rhyme or reason.”
“Pretty much.”
“…Let’s do it.”
The fight choreographer for DBZ worked on the first season of Pretty Cure. I think other seasons too, but I'm not sure.
@@ViolentinthedaylightYour comment is right. Only Precure season 1 and 2 are by Nishio (the DBZ director). BUT, the guy who directed One Piece since 2019 (so peak era) and directed the Super Broly movie, directed several Precure Arcs and films. He’s named Tatsuya Nagamine. It’s probably utterly wild for the uninformed seeing his filmography, One Peice and DBZ Super movies, and then Precure haha
I curse the anime industry once again

No way you left out that one splash star fight

Thanks, I forgor
These fights are so good honestly
There's also Towa/Cure Scarlet vs Dyspear fight in Go!Pri which is insanely good
I get it's meant to be praise but the comments are a little back handed about how a girl's show apparently wouldn't typically have cool action in it? Like y'all, girls like fight scenes too lol.
I mainly watched it for the fights lol. Cause some fights go crazy. Futari wa is my favorite. Soaring sky was ok just to me sora carried the show. I was introduced to precure by being recommended Heartcatch. Watched it 4 times to see if my opinion would change. And each time it changes from liking it, to disliking it, to thinking it's mediocre. Animation wise i prefer the original precure lol. Hugtto i honestly liked it more than Heartcatch. It felt like a better version of it. Anyways enough random comment stuff. Animation wise, i was spoiled by ufotable and mappa Animation but i don't compare them to this since well it's overkill to compare toei to those two lol. But the fights do go hard. Sometimes it just feels like the animators try to break their limits Animating some of those lmao
I'm very interested in starting Precure. Could you give some recommendations on what series I should watch first? At the moment, I'm interested in a serie with great action scenes, but I okay with something with more than that or different.
Futari wa has drawn my attention, especially for the art direction and the choreography.
@@jo-ri-oh8950i would say go princess, heartcatch, futari wa, or splash star are the best. heartcatch and princess go are super good if u want both plot twists and action
could you tag the sakuga artist for each cut? unless it was labeled as unknown artists on SB
I should have done that from the start, I'll add it to the description in a bit
Just added it as CC
@@TheBellman Thank you!
The last meme 💀💀
Honestly, given Miraculous’s success, there’s no reason why Tori shouldn’t be making bigger pushes for Precure in English markets. Crunchyroll is largely accessible to teens and above, hardly casting the net they need.
Precure doesn't get the respect it deserves when it gets localized. The few English dubs we got were heavily edited. I can't remember who did the dub but the last two felt like 4 kids dubs. They changed the title to glitter force, changed some names, and just cut the episodes that had anything too cultural. And since those didn't do well we haven't gotten that much else from the franchise.
@@untitled-gv3qpthat was a long time ago and now we are in the age of dub respect the original source material and having a good dub anime isn’t the expectation like with fma
@@untitled-gv3qp Glitter Force is weird but I have heard how those who grew up with it and got into Precure there after had pleasent memories of those dubs.
Crunchyroll is doing well with Precure but it's hardly a place parents would let their kids go on. CR should team up with, say, Nick Jr. to have Precure dubbed for its target audience.
cure lovely vs red still my fav
I miss when Precure had this sort of fighting scenes. Wonderful lost all that essence in favor of lame chasing....
Granted, the MOTW are mind-controlled animals. Maybe if new enemies that are not based on animals get put in the hard fights come back.
Let's just say like it's Ojamajo Doremi being with no violence.
Because a lot of people will cry animal abuse if you use violence against animals, even though there are some animals that are too dangerous to be dealt with peacefully. Garugarus aren't normal animals. They're possessed animals that has twice the power when they damage things.
I feel like Cure Nyammy's the only one who actually produces results despite her harsh method of using physical force, although her method is far more suited towards dangerous predators (the owl and tiger are the predator animals she took down so far) that Wonderful and Friendy and maybe Lilian are too soft to handle. I just hope that they don't get rid of this as the story progresses now that Lilian joined in.
While I definitely prefer Go! Princess level of awesome fight scenes, it's not like Wonderful is the first season to not have hand to hand combat. At least this time there's a good explanation and they still throw in some cool acrobatics in the chase scenes (whish there was a bit more of those, but oh well).
They'll probably go back to hand to hand in the next season like they did last time (if not then we riot!)
Those girls are holding back because the poor possessed animal would get damage too. It's like garugaru took them as a hostages there's nothing for girls can do about it
I believe they can do throw hands somewhere close to finale because it's weird for them when they will have a crossover movies soon and these only girls can't combat alongside those cures can do combat

Why did nobody tell me Precure was this cool! I only recently started watching Heartcatch because a clip I saw made me laugh! I came into this is expecting schmaltzy magical girls and silly humor! Not badass fight scene with sick choreography and top tier animation! Also, did that chick just double-hammerfist that giant monster with a pom-pom!?!

I don't really watch precure so I would go to a real fan for suggestions, but from what I've watched and gathered the original Futari Wa Pretty Cure is a good start. The shows do not have strong continuity between afaik so after that I would honestly just scroll around Sakugabooru and watch whichever has the art and animation you like the most after that.
