Might be a dumb question but, if the tank treads are stripped for the release valve… why couldn’t you just tap them up a size bigger and use a steel reducer with thread puddy? If a 10ton mold holding 200psi of 90° water can handle a puddied up reducer while moving 5000 times a night shouldn’t a stationary hot water heater?? or is this suggestion simply because the inside of the tank might be too compromised resulting an explosion?

I have a gas water heater. I can light the pilot and then set the temperature, but after a few minutes it shuts itself off and we could not figure out why. After some observations, I noticed a drip of water splashing down into the flame ring area slowly over time, indicating that the inner liner is cracked or leaking... Apparently, there was a feature designed to automatically cut off the gas flow in this kind of situation. I have two questions concerning this. Is this leak repairable? Why was a leak of this type not covered in your video?
@ShaheenCooking-Vlog the cause was a small crack in the seam of the inner pipe that transferred the heat of the flames to the water chamber, allowing the water into the flame chamber. We found out that this is not repairable, even by the factory. We ended up replacing it with a natural gas fired hot water on demand system (tankless). Hi Brandon, my water heater is leaking from top. The leak is from the cold water intake side. It seems to me the hose that connects cold water supply and the tank is fine. It is the pipe that is coming from the tank and is connected to the hose. The leak is from the bottom of that pipe and I can see the rust forming from the bottom of the pipe. May I ask whether this is repairable? If so, how to do it? It seems from the video that you imply it is a fixable issue. But I do not know how to do it. Thanks!
You say the cold water nipple leaking is repairable, easy fix. Why is the PRV different and not repairable since both are threaded and unscrewable (if corroded and leaking). Thanks
Last night, when I came home. I heard water noises coming from my laundry room... I thought someone was running a shower, but water was leaking in my laundry room, possibly from the heater. Could be the pipes or the heater. Water was probably sprinkling out of the top like a gusher.
Possibly was damaged in shipping or installation. Call local plumbers, find one who can give you a free inspection and recommendation to see if they can determine if it can be repaired. Also, check your warranty through the company or plumber who installed it...
I just found a horizontal gash or line it's approx. 3 inches across the middle of the tank ....and then its also leaking from around the pipe area from the top side.......I didn't know anything about servicing the hot water tank.....this is crazy....and everything is expensive now during this pandemic with Covid 19.......
Do you know how the damage occurred? You should not be storing miscellaneous objects on or near your water heater. The exterior shell is just enameled steel, duct tape will work to seal it up, underneath it is just the insulation layer. As for the leak on top, if it is a screw-on attachment point that is leaking, you could try turning off your water and removing it, then add Teflon tape and put it back in... or replacing the bad connection or length of pipe.
Mine is leaking from the middle of the tank itself there's a panel on there with a sticker on there showing that you could burn your hands on that panel itself is where it's leaking from
I forgot to mention that we have used the hot water heater all weekend since it’s initial leak and water heater seems to be working fine with no leaking I’m very puzzled

My water heater pilot went out, as I went to clean it below. Just a little moisture came out. It's not gushing water out. There is no build up of water. Very minimal moisture.

So is mine I hooked it up right water never got hot water so I went and looked and seen it was gushing out of tha side panels idk what’s going on?
My hot water heater is leaking underneath? I’m thinking it was rusted out!
Have it looked at by a trustworthy professional.
You say the cold water nipple leaking is repairable, easy fix.
Why is the PRV different and not repairable since both are threaded and unscrewable (if corroded and leaking). Thanks
Technically they are repairable. Almost times. But, it takes a lot of time and not a guarantee every time.
The Prv valve is replaceable. He said if the threads are corroded then it's not fixable.
I have a electric water heater and it’s leaking from the middle but it don’t look like anode rod.
It’s something else
I found my leak was the threaded adapters screwing into the top of the tank. Someone did a poor job doping the threads.
Do you not need to turn the gas off? Or pilot?
Last night, when I came home. I heard water noises coming from my laundry room... I thought someone was running a shower, but water was leaking in my laundry room, possibly from the heater. Could be the pipes or the heater.
Water was probably sprinkling out of the top like a gusher.
Our water heater is 5 years old and leaking from the bottom... why? Is it fixable?
Mine is leaking from the middle of the tank itself there's a panel on there with a sticker on there showing that you could burn your hands on that panel itself is where it's leaking from
Excellent thanks 👍
No problem 👍
great! thanks!
You're welcome!
Can a water heater beep?
I forgot to mention that we have used the hot water heater all weekend since it’s initial leak and water heater seems to be working fine with no leaking I’m very puzzled
We woke up the other day to find water in the bottom pan under the hot water heater and for some reason there was actually dampness of water under where the pan was and also water leaking outside the house through the pipe in the pan that leads outside to drain but we drain the pan and find no more water leaking into the pan what can this be also that the hot water heater is no longer making gurgling type noises as it was leaking or whatever into the pan those noises have stopped and so has any type of leaking but wasn’t sure where the leak is coming from Pam is bone dry now and have no idea what happened does anybody know
Mines leaking from the sides
Why does everything break on a Hollyday 🤔🙄🤦😬😵💫
My hot water heater is leaking from bottom and it’s is only 6 months old 😢
Mine leaks from the control panel where the temperature is regulated
Mines leaking from the side.. not the top or bottom
Rod Serling as a plumber!
You didn’t even show the part of how to fix it!
My water heater pilot went out, as I went to clean it below. Just a little moisture came out. It's not gushing water out. There is no build up of water. Very minimal moisture.
"If you are watching this video, your water heater is probably leaking" then proceeds with video intro then another 3 4 mins before talking about how to stop the water from leaking. Literally had to sat there and listen 4-5 mins while my water leaked into my basement :))))))))))))
Did you die! Que in scene from the hangover. ; ) love you. Sorry to make you watch me for 4-5 thousand hours.
The guy who replaced our old water heater left the old one in our basement-just so it could take up room in our house. Is that normal?
My plumber not only left the old water heater in the basement he also took a dump on the floor is that normal?
My 20gl heater leaking internally water fall on wires
Sorry for not responding sooner, but the best thing to do in a situation like this is to shut off the water and gas to the water heater.
My geyser is leaking from the top
If it’s leaking from a connection you are good. If it’s leaking from the bottom you need a new heater.
AND i could attach a hose, to drain things.
