I'm a RAV4 owner as well but it's an older vintage. I own a 2012 RAV4 V6 that I use for the bulk of my camping adventures. I have a similar setup that leans towards simplicity. For my mattress, I use two Thermarest Z-Lite pads and I utilize several smaller plastic bins set up on the side for storing camping and cooking equipment as well as food and extra clothing. I think a lot of people would be pleasantly surprised at how many places they can visit with a crossover vehicle. Thanks for sharing your RAV4 setup as well as views from your Trona Pinnacles adventure.
Just got my rav4 premium. Wanted a 4Runner at first but couldn’t justify the price and how little you got for more money.. rav4 definitely capable of taking you on adventures. Thanks for the video. Looking forward seeing new places.
Rav owner, liked your video.....I have made several trips and I like to keep it simple, a place to sleep and supplies. Nice location. Thanks for the video.
I had the opportunity to buy the adventure model and decided to go with the xle. They were both 2018 used about the same mileage the one I chose (xle) had 6k less miles on it and it was $4k less which is why I went with it because I bought it cash. Looking back at it now, I should’ve financed the difference to get the adventure. I’m getting into stuff like this and some secluded places that some of my family go to I can’t because I have no AWD 😢
Dude this is great! I have the same RAV ‘18 love how much room we have. And now I can see if all else fails I’m totally living in my Rav lol 😂 Great vid! Keep it up
Wow....beautiful!!! I have a 2018 Rav 4 allwheel dr...this looks like a fun build and well done! Thanks for the great pix! Gonna have to check out this spot....the video making must be hard to do because many people give up too soon...I always enjoy the videos that peoplemake...Foresty Forest is probably one of the best....Steve Wallis is another...their ideas might help...I wish you luck!
I just bought a 2011 Rav4 with only 65K miles on it and I love it! It's my second vehicle that I plan on using for some mini-weekend adventures and seeing how easy it is to setup a bed in it, there's no way I'm going to be using a tent!
yeah its super simple and plenty of room, tent is great too but when you're tired after a long drive or bad weather you just wanna climb to the back and call it a night lol
Cool video!! I also have a 2018 Rav4. I love car camping in it. We should get together and camp... we could do a all Rav4 owner's car camping video 🤔🤔 lol
hey man, love your video, I just bought a 2016 RAV4 AWD, did you installed a lift kit for the tires?, which size did you use for tire and rims? Greetings from Mexico!
This video just popped up on youtube. I am in the market for a "motorized metal tent," and I like your simple setup with the RAV4. Like you, I just want to explore places I see on the map and get out there and contemplate life. Not into rock crawling, and my budget is limited. Have been looking at the RAV4 Off-Road. Did you have to trim the tri-fold mattress in order to make it fit? Are you able to stretch out flat with your setup. I ask because I have low back problems. Thank you for this video and THUMBS UP!
I am not into rock crawling or actual trails and stuff. I just use my car for road trips and to get to camp spots like this. As for the mattress, it fits perfect, no need to cut or anything.
Nice minimalist setup! Thinking of a similar setup for my crossover on order. Have you thought of making a small platform to make the bed flat + storage space underneath? What you think is the simplest way to do it.
It's a Lucky Adventure the whole idea came after a trip this last summer. Had everything I needed expect a bed in my car. This year I will make it work. I do a lot of photography and I think some nice adventures for photos and camping will be fun
So is your Rav4 AWD? I have a 2018 Rav4 FWD, but I've always wanted to do the camping trips! I just did my first actual mod on my car and had the muffler swapped out yesterday with a Magnaflow. What modifications have you done? This video really gives me hope for future camping trips! Thank you for sharing!
Hey great video. Just a quick question. Is your Rav4 is AWD? Mine is FWD so I was wondering if AWD would be essential for camping. I know definitely AWD would be better but not sure I have to change the car with another one with AWD.
hello.. 1 have the same car, stock. going to start changing out the stock tires and wheels. just wondering, whats your wheel and tire set up/ thanks!! any other help from others reading, would be appreciated.
Just out of curiosity, have you ever questioned or interrupted by someone (e.g., cops, park rangers, or just random people) in the middle of the night while you are sleeping in the car?
i disconnected it from the seat belt in the seat, theres a little slot that you can insert a key or something to release it and then the seat belt retracts into the ceiling.
RAV 4 OWNER HERE! THANKS FOR THE EASY SET UP! I like the bed, thanks for the links.

i have Thermarest as well, but it keeps sliding and moving and not very comfortable so i used it only as last resort :)
A 3-hour drive and have to wake up to that view when th back opens. Well, that is a drive I would take often.

Mine is FWD..
@@eddiesforktour4394 so is mine
Thanks for sharing man. You just gave me an idea. Stay safe.
glad you got an idea :)
Where did you get those fender flares?
They look very cool on the 4th gen
Great videos and adventure. Could see using bigger Toyota 4wd so the other half can come along to enjoy it together ❤ 😉
After my night shift tonight im going camping 🏕 trona pennicles. I drove by them a few weeks ago after leaving death valley
how was your trip? I always go to Trona Pinnacles to camp the night before driving up 395 :)
@@itsaluckyadventure3344 it was an amazing scene and you can almost camp anywhere you want. I recommend it to anyone for a good time. 👍

Lol Asian blankets! That’s what I call those too. Comfy.
can't leave home without it ;)
I have the same one, mink plush blanket, but everyone does call it an Asian blanket. 2016 Ltd hybrid.
haha can't leave home without it in the cold months.
Nice bro..what tire size did you put on your wheels? And did you rub?
What kind of portable heater do you use?
Simple and efficient 😎⚡️🤙
Woahhhh... how did you get to the moon driving a rav4?
Magic grocery getting since the school bus didn't work :)
Boss, what's your wheel and tire setup? Did you lift your rav? Thanks in advance.
where did you get your rain deflector? also, are those 15 inch wheels?

Thanks for the video. I am planning on trying some camping in my 2019 Subaru Forester this spring/summer
That's great! You'll have a lot of fun :)

Could have used some Netflix when I couldn't sleep. Great idea!
haha now you know for next time. Start downloading those shows/movies. :)
Hey, What are your tires size and model?
Thanks
How do you handle the bump from the back seat folded down ? Its difficult to sleep over the bump.
the memory foam mattress solves that issue, i don't feel the bump behind the seat when folded.
Does the height at your feet bother you? I am concerned with my head or feet being higher.
Nice video. I have same rav 4. What is the tires size please ?
I have a rav4 I love it!
i love mine too!
Me too
Nice work.
hello.. 1 have the same car, stock. going to start changing out the stock tires and wheels. just wondering, whats your wheel and tire set up/ thanks!! any other help from others reading, would be appreciated.
More info on the heater please.
Where is the little heater from?
Do your seats fold down flat? I have a 2017 RAV4 and they don't unfortunately!
my seats don't fold completely flat, may 5 degree angle but with the memory foam pad the slight angle doesnt matter :)
Hey can you drop your rims and tire setup please thank you😌
MST Time Attack and Cooper AT3 4S tires.
@@itsaluckyadventure3344 lift kit?
@@juanrangel4254 no lift, stock height
Damn was worried my stock rav4 would struggle with the drive there but that tiny car @14:17!
Just out of curiosity, have you ever questioned or interrupted by someone (e.g., cops, park rangers, or just random people) in the middle of the night while you are sleeping in the car?
How does your back window reflectix stay on with the door up
i cut it slight larger than the window and just shove it in the crack of the window and trim piece.
What kind of gas mileage are you getting please?
Cool, I have never been there.
Go check it out man, only 3 hours away :)
I'm considering a Rave4. Not sure which trim to get. May want to get a small teardrop.
any trim is great, but get one with AWD in case you need it to get to a camp site or explore rough terrain. :)
What led dogs are you running?
What state are you in? AZ?
Does anyone know the name of the heater?
Anyone know how much usable length there is for the bed? Will I fit if i’m 5’11?
I’m 5’11 and have more than enough room in my 2015 RAV4
@@Hoesntrix is there some room to be spare? 6'2" here thinking of getting one ahaha thank you
I'm 6'0 ft. Would I be able to fit comfortably?

+ 1 very good video

Celine Dion? Lol dude.
