    Hi Mark, can I use this software/method with your older Vortex hardware?

    Can you balance eg. Table fan propeller without removing the prop even at some accuracy? If yes, what weight of propeller should be used, should the weight include the motor?

    • @dynexhobby
      @dynexhobby  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that’s possible using the 4 point method. Just use weight of propeller as starting point.

    I performed a balance on some of my E.D.F.'s earlier this year. I used the in infrared sensor to indicate the speed. Everything worked well, until yesterday. I cannot get the infrared sensor to function. Is it alright to perform balancing without this sensor ?I

    • @dynexhobby
      @dynexhobby  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can using the 4 point method. It does not require the IR sensor

    Hi Mark. Guess who ?This video is a life saver. I made only one change to the setup. I changed the "speed sensor" from "IR" to "Accelerometer" I could not obtain a reading from the IR sensor. Other than that. Everything works as described. My only question is. After calibration is completed and the test weight removed and e.d.f. started. I'm given a specific weight to be added at a specific location. I record the data. Perform another run. I'm told for the second time to add another given weight to be added at a new location. My question should be. Do I remove the first weight and add the additional weight at the new location ?

    • @dynexhobby
      @dynexhobby  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Frank, the initial trial weight is only to calibrate the system. The trial weight teaches the software what an imbalance looks like. From there the system can determine what the imbalance is. After the initial calibration, you simply remove the trial weight and run the EDF again and click on the "Record Plane 1" button. The software will then calculate the correct weight for the final balance. Keep in mind that the weight will have to be tweaked slightly to reduce the vibration.

      @@dynexhobby After the value is recorded, and run a second test, I'm instructed to add more weight at a different location. Do I remove the first weight ?

    • @dynexhobby
      @dynexhobby  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@frank-vq4mx Yes, remove the trial weight and then apply the correction weight.

    In this video, It doesn't explained why the I.R. sensor ,not the motion sensor, was used for all measurements. Also .After achieving the final weight and location of the weight to be added, it doesn't show how it was attached to the fan.

    • @dynexhobby
      @dynexhobby  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Frank, the IR Sensor (or Laser Module) is used to measure the Phase Angle (degrees). The Accelerometer is used to measure the Vibration amplitude (mV). When you have the final balance solution, you can then go ahead and modify the impeller. Some modellers use epoxy putty on the inside of the hub. Do not use BluTak it will fly off!

      @@dynexhobby Thanks Mark. Is the blue tack removed from the motor and housing at the rear when all tests have been completed ?

    • @frank-vq4mx
      @frank-vq4mx 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dynexhobby The accelerometer is all that is really required for the 4 point balance. I'm I correct ?

    • @dynexhobby
      @dynexhobby  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@frank-vq4mx Yes, the BluTak is only a temporary to define the solution. Once you have the solution remove the BluTack and replace it with a more permanent weight (i.e. epoxy putty).

    • @dynexhobby
      @dynexhobby  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@frank-vq4mx Yes, thats correct. The 4 Point method doesn't require the IR Sensor (or phase measurement). It is more robust than the single-plane method described above.
