🇰🇪 Kumbukumbu Tours: /
My first day in Kenya continued with an incredible street food tour of the capital that focused on country’s amazing meat dishes! Join me as I try the national dish, nyama choma, as well as the country’s most controversial food, mutura!
Joining me on this adventure are my friend and cameraman Tasos, and my guide Obed from Kumbukumbu Tours. Let’s go eat!
🇰🇪 More Kenya Videos: / watchv=zwue1_9qe5i&lis...
🇬🇷 Tasos: / tasoskarantakos
BAYLEY’S: Here, we had an incredible spread centered around nyama choma, the grilled goat meat that’s the national dish in Kenya! We had it alongside ugali, sukuma wiki, kachumbari, sliced avocado, irio, and spinach.
SUGARCANE JUICE: After our nyama choma feast, we enjoyed some refreshing and potent sugarcane juice with ginger and lemon.
MUTURA: We ended our food tour with some mutura, a grilled beef intestine stuffed with minced beef and herbs, and topped with a spicy tomato salsa. It was my favorite dish of the trip so far!

@@Davidsbeenhere the correct way to say nyama choma is "nya" not "neeya", it's like how people say in slang, "na-nya business" (from the words none of your business). So you should sound it the same nya-ma-cho-ma. Kenya too should be sounded as "Ke-nya", not Keneeya. I think I heard you saying nyama correctly later on in the video. lol. Then sukuma wiki is colored greens, African American famous greens. But we cook it very differently in Kenya which is more tastier. Sorry I am biased as a Kenyan. lol. Kenyans also love love love cilantro in their meals which we call dania. Lastly, the green mashed food you ate does NOT have any coloring. lol. We don't color natural foods in Kenya. That green you ate I believe was from some green leaves or green peas that are steamed with potatoes and corn and then mashed and that is how they appear as you saw on your plate. Very delicious and satisfying. Thank you for highlighting food and meats in Kenya unsung.
Thank you for covering my country, I hope you enjoyed ❤❤🇰🇪🇰🇪

I love that you embrace and respect the cultures of everywhere you go. That’s the quality that’s beautiful. Some people can’t embrace what they’re not used to and look down on it. You do not do that and I love it.
aww thank you so much 2075vj!!! Thats so nice of you to say. You are so kind!!!
David it’s good to see you happy and enjoying the food in Africa. You’re humbled. Simple and have respect for humanity. Keep the good work . This will educate the racist who doesn’t travel but allow ignorance to take over their lives. Do you know how the world will be like if e😢was like you. Africa is blessed especially with organic food. Remain blessed and once again love you.

Nothing like being in Nairobi, I am here now and I don't wanna go back. Something about pure life love and laughter.
The best way to enjoy nyama choma is making the delicacy from scratch with friends and family...props for making this. Kenya to the world.
Mutura for the win!!! That looked 🤤
Yes sir ❤
Thank you David for coming it was a pleasure having you brother. You have an amazing personality ,free spirit person we had priceless moments. Keep it up bro.

As a diehard cook, I think I would like to add a rotisserie barbecue style for the goat, slow-slow cooking so that the meat will fall off the bones. Lovely... mouth watering...
Dang Edward that sounds amazingly tasty!
No one will come to your restaurant Kenyan we like shewing the bones. Good source of calcium
I saw you guys shooting this video...and I was enjoying my nyama choma next table ...I'm so excited to see this

Wow Kenya is special 😍😋
'mukimo' is the green dish made of mushed potatoes, corn and some greens. the dish is not for the Kikuyus only, but all the Eastern counties and Kenya in general. Varies from tribe to tribe. Enjoy Kenya
It's mainly for the Kikukuyu coz in our culture we don't make it I only eat it when am in Nairobi, coz back in the village I never saw it but it's good to taste food from different culture I love it,I love trying something new
uyu mzungu anajibamba hii mtaa. Good for him. enjoy @Davidsbeenhere
Mukimo is a Kikuyu traditional food. It spread to other communities from the Kikuyu. Learn some history.
which kikuyu are kama hujui mukimo is for kikuyu originally
Osman. Every Bantu tribe from the highlands and lower eastern had and has their own version.

Ah thank you!
Yup. Veggies🥦🥕🌽.
Africans don't take frozen foods. They only take fresh meals from their local farms, the best thing about African & Asian Cuisines.

They make a blood sash is also in the Spanish countries. I used to enjoy it when I was younger but now I moved away from red meat so I couldn’t imagine eating but sausage but it was good. I must say thanks again, David.

When you are next in Kenya look for the foodies who will add more information on the sourcing and preparation of the meals you are eating. This Kenyan guy is good but it could have been great and factual as well. Thanks all the same for doing your best to cover our amazing dishes...

Welcome to Nairobi.but here in the states and western world ppl eat with their hands too.I ain't never seen anyone here eat a burger or a pizza or a bucket of chicken with a knife and fork.hope u visit Westlands Langata Kileleshwa Karen Muthaiga and the uptown too.I miss my Nai.born and raised.
Thank you so much for the comment Eddy! But to be fair most meals are eaten with silverware. It is a part of "being polite" in western society. Yes there are a few exceptions, chicken wings, burgers, pizza, but I think to be fair those are the exceptions not the rule. That said, I've got 20 more videos coming so stay tuned. I really do appreciate the comment and you are lucky to be from such a beautiful place!
We are JJEBfarm goat meat in lincs. Kenyans in England. We rear goat. Lamb. Cook All of these foods but Mutura. … until now Asante.

Rongai it a great place to vibe great we love visitors in Kenya
And live in also in kenya
The mukimo is made up of potatoes, greens like stinging nettle, and either beans or corn or both all mixed mashed together. There is no colouring. Everything is natural. Common with the Kikuyu tribe.
