1 key feature that truly shines is the seating position..i dont think there are any rival makes which comes close, not even larger similarly priced SUVs.. not sure if it is just me, but here's something i noticed on all HRVs...the seating position is awkward and causes fatigue in long distance travels.

We could install a child seat in our CX-3 and it was quite comfortable with 3 adults and 1 child on shorter trips. But the boots is too small for a stroller.
The loud engine intrusion noise is the reason why i bought a mazda 2 & cx-5 . High compression means that it screams for higher rpm and to me it sounds fucking good! The gearbox on the other hand is what i call pure brilliant. The shift points are on point and it knows what gear to stay in. I would say it is smarter than Mercedes 9G-Tronic and as good as ZF box. If i totalled my current car, the CX-3 and new upcoming 3 will be at the top of my list.
Sporty and drive well, Mazda 3, Honda Civic. Practical and spacious, Honda HRV, Proton X70. Funky looking and unique, Toyota CHR. What's the point of buying Mazda CX-3? If it is cheaper, than i might consider it. But at 130k, there many better option to choose from.

Honestly can't get the point of having a crossover, looks like an SUV, space like a hatchback, and priced like a sedan, what are the upsides of such a vehicle?

You don’t buy a CX-3 when only looking on price, size etc. - it is more to do with emotions and technology. If space and practicability is important, then you should choose a (boring) Honda H-RV. I assume that the new CX-30 will change the game. We owned a first gen CX-3 before we changed to the bigger CX-5. I miss the CX-3 because it was so practical in the city.
@ Practical in what sense? Parking? I do like that versatility a smaller car offers in the city, which is why I have a Hyundai Ioniq. It is surprisingly a sedan with a length that is shorter than a BMW 1 series would you believe it? Realistically speaking, Mazda is much more refined than the HRV, but the price of this, just to evoke emotions, is a high one…
Exactly.. I see pointless buying this b segment based crossover for rm130k. One can simply go for proper suv like cx5 w adding a little more money or gt a proper sedan like civic or mazda 3 for its price..
see the front grill, its old gen, so just wait until they release a new generation of CX3, the different between new and old is , the new one has grill with tiny black holes , but the old ones has lines of grill
@@imrannaim5234 not yet released, i was saying that because they were adopting the old fashion grill, take hints from evolution of mazda 3 gen 3 grill with mazda 3 gen 4 grill
As a current owner of Mazda 3 which runs the same engine with CX-3, in my humble opinion, the engine noise can be toned down and get more refined despite revving it up by just changing to a better engine oil. I personally did a side by side comparison to my friend's sub 1 year old Mazda 3 that just done his 10k km service to my 4 years old Mazda 3 which clocked 50k km, and no longer entitled for free service. I did the service outside with some other engine oil, and my car's engine runs smoother and quieter than his newer car.
zDestinyx the problem with mazda malaysia (bermaz) is they are using the wrong oil! Our Mazda are suppose to run on 0W-20 oil instead bermaz provide 5-30 which is too thick for high compression... You can try use Mazda’s own Eco 0-20 oil and it the engine tone will be more orgasmic!
@@ahmadfrhn97 Yup, agree with you bro. In Malaysia, we are entitled for free service for 3 years or 60k km during the time I purchased my car, and recently they further extend it to 5 years or 100k km for new owners nowadays. While the free oil they give is 5w30 semi syn, we can upgrade it to fully syn by topping up the price different. However, the fully syn they offer is 5w40 in viscosity. My concern is that may not be the optimal viscosity for modern cars as due to advancement in engine technologies, the clearance between the internal moving parts of engine are tighter nowadays. Therefore, lower viscosity oil is preferred in this case for better oil flows and provide better lubrication to those parts with tight clearance, in addition to provide better cold start protection thanks to better flowability of low viscosity oil. So what I did was, replace the engine oil with my own oil at my trusted workshop outside, 1 week after the service is done by Mazda SC. I actually tried to run the free semi-syn oil for 1 interval to test it out whether is it really can last for 10k km, during my first service. It doesn't perform well in fact and when reaching 5k km plus with the oil, the engine gets rough and you can feel some power reduction. Ever since then, I didn't use the free oil throughout the service interval anymore. I am keen to try out Mazda 0w20 engine oil with Moly that is available in overseas market. Sadly it seems that it is not available in Malaysia. Anyway, I am happy with the oil I am using now in term of the performance it provides so I will just continue using it.
@@ahmadfrhn97 I see. Thanks for the info. But too bad I am from Johore and I am not sure which spare part shop is selling that Mazda OEM engine oil. Anyway, either w20 or w30 oil are good to go in Mazda Skyactiv engine base on our ambient temperature therefore I am pretty ok with 5w30 fully syn oil
This CX3 is wayyyyy better looking than Honda HRV. Thumbs up Mazda!

Happy Chinese New Year Adrian. Put aside the rear passanger space, would it worth buying 2017/18 CX3 to 2024 Ativa. For my soon to retire wife.

Bermaz shouldnt have removed the adaptive cruise control. Overseas models have them.
Also what tyres to have to get the best handling?
Michelin Pilot Sport 4. On the expensive side, but have best balance of dry and wet handling.
Fortunately Mazda Thailand has kept it. I am waiting now for the new CX-30.
The CX-3 in Thailand gets tires from Toyo and I was happy with them.
