      Thanks JM! That's also why I like watching gardening videos from other climates and parts of the world because there's always something to learn no matter what! :)

    Nicely done Mark! That was fun to watch. It's getting cooler here in SW Florida (zone 10a). My beds are going through a similar transition as well. I hope you enjoy your growing season.

      Thanks Tim! I just watched your wine/mead stabilisation vid - very cool. Yeah, Florida is practically the same climate as us here... I've been over there once in the 90's would love to go back one day! Cheers :)

    Just found your channel. I love your round raised beds(corrugated metal). Wish I could get them in FL, they'd be great in my garden!

      Hi Brian, yes I get a lot of gardeners from the USA wish they could buy them. I know there are Australian businesses trying to get into the raised bed market in the US... There's this product on Amazon bit.ly/2lulqEC which is very similar to mine but apart from that it's pretty scarce ATM. What you could do is buy a small corrugated water tank and turn it into a raised bed or request a tank manufacturer/retailer to make one on order? Anyway, best of luck! :)

    Boy I love your videos! Having so many problems this year, I missed a lot of planting and harvesting videos, and watching you through the winter here, will be a huge plus for me. I especially liked this one. I've been wanting to toss my "greens" right on top of my beds too, but since so few do that here, I wasn't sure if I should try it. Now that I know it works, I will be doing that from now on. I've read a lot about it, but methods are so different in so many climates here, you never know unless you try. So, I'm now going to try.! I also love the way you just toss the weeds into the grass. That one I did know. I had someone that cut the grass and weeds at my beach property, and it has fed the ground for years now, and that area is now going to be where my new raised beds are going. It hasn't been touched for over 60 years other than to cut the grass, and I can't wait to see how the soil is in the spring. I do know that it has a LOT of top soil that would not be there, had it not been for the grass and weed cutting over so many years. The other soils there are all sand, and mine is as dark as coal. Great video!!! Sheila PS I'm so happy to hear that you took time off to be with your wife. I love to hear about it, when someone lives, what is really important to them.

      Thanks Sheila! I'm glad you liked the video and yes you don't tend to hear/see many people throwing their garden waste directly back into the garden bed because I suppose many compost it first. I do like to rest a bed this way after pulling out so much green as it really does help the little animals left behind to feed and in turn work the soil whilst the bed is not in use. Cheers :)

    I just searched for your channel and the word "weeds" and found this old video. Look how young you are! Your personality has certainly popped out more since you made this.
    PS: I'm your neighbour. I live in The Middle Pocket NSW Northern Rivers. I'd love to come and visit you one day.
    Although, I suspect you'll never read this. Lucy 2024

    I was curious about the importance of water when resting a bed, however i see now without water the weed seeds will die and if you're resting a bed for a month i feel the microbes and worms should be okay. Also the rain water could come in around the bed to keep those beneficial microbes watered, fingers crossed!

    I greet you. I know the language a little, and sorry for my mistakes. My country is not used to growing in elevated beds. I will try to do it. (Amateur). I want to ask you about how much height is good to be easy. Round beds look fantastic. Thank you.

      Hello! Personally, I prefer the raised beds at about 80cm (or just under 3 feet high) is a good size for not having to bend over too much but also not too high. All the best :)

    How did you make those circle raised beds?

    • @Selfsufficientme
      @Selfsufficientme  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I purchased them online they come flat packed in four segments and you just screw them together. These Colorbond round raised garden beds are pretty popular now in Australia.
