I know that it makes for a better ending that the Bellas win, but I think that the Treblemakers should have won for this. This was fantastic.
@Mateusz Ziolkowski yeah let’s be honest the sequels didn’t have great plot lines. There wasn’t a lot of room for them to grow.
Alright- I honestly first thought that the Treblemakers should have won- but I now think that Bella’s deserved it, bc if imma be real with u- their performance was spectacular
Honestly I think a realistic reason the Bellas could’ve won (disregarding movie plots) would be that the audience was voting. Since the Treblemakers consistently sing good songs, it wasn’t that big of a surprise to hear this one. But it shocked everyone when the Bellas did so well after being terrible for so many years previously, so it made the general audience remember and vote for them

Was always a little annoyed they showed Benji getting asked. Would've loved the surprise so much more if he just showed up because we KNEW it was gonna be him but still.
I love how literally everyone is here for Ben Platt but don’t realize that Skylar Astin is part of the OBC of Spring Awakening and was in Broadway way before Ben Platt.
Why does it matter who was on Broadway FIRST? Their personal success with their respective show is what made them famous and why people come here.

It’s not a competition, they’re both great. I think people talk about Ben more here because he blew up after this role so people come back to it. Skyler was a main role in this movie and already well loved. It’s not a slight at Skyler like you paint it.

Ben Platt, who was an unknown when this movie was released, immediately raised my attention when I heard him sing. He's got this magical emotion he brings to every song he sings. But then he kinda disappeared. Sure, I know he was Elder Cunningham in the national tour of BoM, but that's not really a big spotlight. But now, this man has a Tony, a movie with the role he originated, and a big future ahead of him, despite the critical panning of said movie. Way to go Benji. You've got the magic for sure.

I still think they should’ve won tbh, I liked their performance a lot more.
Storywise it also would’ve been a good setup for the other films. Have the Bellas compete again and then win, kinda like Rocky, which is mentioned, I think, in the movie. They go the distance here but just fall short and it ends with the two rival groups coming together, maybe for a bite to eat and a harmony or two. It’ll be more about them mending ties and finding friendships with their rivals or something. Not to mention everyone expects the Bella’s to win bc they’re the protagonists, it’s a good twist.

Well it's most likely that the prod team of this movie never strongly planned for sequels until the movie was well received, hence the ending where protagonist wins
I don’t really see how it would be a good twist when the Trebles had won for years. If anything the twist was the Footnotes getting disqualified which gave the Bella’s another chance. I think the Bella’s deserved to win, they had better choreography and the way they mashed songs together worked really well. They also showed lots of improvement.
I love Benj’s face at 1:56 when his confidence kicks in, it’s the best performance in all 3 films 😊

the treblemakers were hella good but the bella’s had amazing choreography and more songs. bella’s definitely deserved their win not only that but these girls were far from the typical acapella girls they deserved it no doubt

they woulda won if bumper stayed, he just brought that raw, bad boy energy that the judges absolutely loved
this is my favourite performance out of all the movies.. it gives me chills.

When i first joined my secondary school choir, for our concert the guys sang this. I was literally high key crushing on all my seniors at that time so watching them performing this was sooo dreamy

This final performance, the Bellas final performance in PP2, and Das Sound Machine's final performance would've been such an awesome final competition.

It's crazy how I remember this performance and Das Sound Machine final performances than the bellas' winning performances in both movies. Especially in Pitch Perfect 2 vs DSM, it wasn't even close, DSM were much better

I'm pretty sure Benji was supposed to be the audience character and for me he was. I definitely remember the first time watching this movie and seeing his growth and relating to him so much.
I wouldn't call myself a singer but I love karaoke and even if it's just a small platform to me it's a big stage and I'm the star in those 3 minutes. It really does give you a rush 😊

I think the reason they lost to the bellas was because the Bella went of track. They always sang the same song, and I think that made the judges biased
