- Vivek Oberoi made a terrific and unconventional entry in Bollywood in 2002 with Company and Saathiya, but what followed was a tumultuous journey in the industry for him that was marred with controversies and troubles. But the actor always rose above them and in this first episode of Memory Lane, Vivek opens up on the initial years of his career and the difficult times that followed. He spoke about the expectations that came with his successful debut, being Suresh Oberoi’s son, the phase where he had no work and the trouble that came with being vocal about his opinions and relationship with ex Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He also discussed his stint on OTT, recent show Dharavi Bank and made a shocking confession of having dark thoughts once in his life which made him relate to Sushant Singh Rajput and how wife Priyanka Oberoi helped him through that. He highlighted the importance of media and how it has changed since his debut. He then revisited the era of early 2000s in our segment Blast From The Past and made some interesting revelations, including talking about his films that haven’t aged well. As an actor he has always been very good. But I did not like how he spoke about Salman and then Aishwarya. He was highly immature then and made Aishwarya cringe. Because until that point she was open about dating him. But she is a private person, and any person who makes her private life a public circus she has always broken up with. Ofcourse he felt he was made a victim. There is some truth to that, but in his case his attitude Nd immaturity created an issue for him and even those who wanted to help him would back off. Like Kangana (who I love) he made enemies with his tongue and paid a price. He was right many times but not always. Anyways as an actor he remains brilliant. Wishing him great success and also hope he stays humble.
