Creating and selling printable planners is a great way to make money online. The best part is that you can do it even with no design background and/or if you are too busy to do so!
With done-for-you planner templates with commercial use rights, you can easily make edits and customize these Canva planner templates and create unique products to add to your shop/website/blog either for sale or to use as lead magnets to grow your email list.
In this Canva tutorial, I have used a lovely Fall Planner from Club Pin, a monthly Canva Templates subscription program, and changed it into a Winter Planner in two different designs.

Thank you, Ida! The whole idea is really to show you how fast things can be! Of course, it takes time to get used to the entire process so the more you do it, the faster you will become! I most certainly wasn't this fast when I first started using PLR and templates. The more templates you customize, the easier it is for you to spot which elements can be more customised more easily. I’d say that some of the questions you can ask are
- how many pages
- objective of the planner
- target user for the planner
- design theme

I am learning so much from your videos! I am so happy and thankful I found you here on TH-cam. I've been following along and actually creating while watching you. I am excited to start selling on Etsy. I am scared though lol. I am not very techy and wouldn't even know how to really help someone who might want to buy a planner but need help when it comes to downloading etc. I am just now learning how to save the digital work I'm making and still confused a little on what to choose to "save it as" and why I need to choose that way for the best results for customer...if that makes sense at all lol. :/
Thank you so much for watching and I'm really glad you found my Canva tutorials helpful! When you are downloading printable planners, save them as PDF standard for lower file size. I think for US letter size documents, the resolution will not actually be negatively impacted. When download DIGITAL planners, also choose PDF standard and make sure you DO NOT flatten PDF because it will get rid of all your hyperlinks.
For printable planners, you CAN choose to flatten PDF if you want to make sure people don't actually extract the graphics that you have used in your product.

This video was so informative, Thank you! When you create a "Winter Planner" do you do just one month per template - or would you do a season? or add in months for a whole year?
Thanks for watching! I’d say it’s really up to you. For example, I might create a three month winter planner that runs from November to January and offer it as a gift to my subscribers.
Or I could apply the same techniques and create a full year’s planner with different designs according to the seasons. You are the designer so you have the full creative space and autonomy to bring your ideas to reality. That’s the fun part of creating! 😊
This website says that these templates are for personal use only, are we stilll able to use them providing that they have been fully modified ?
Are you referring to templates you get from BittySpire? The templates come with commercial use rights which means you can modify the templates OR use the designs as is and sell your final product. But your customers can only use your final product for their personal use only.
Hi faith! I have a question. How do you type what you need in the planner if it's in a pdf?
You can download your planner as a PDF file and then import on note-taking apps like Goodnotes and any other app on your tablet that allows you to annotate on a PDF file. You can then use an Apple pencil for the iPad or a stylus to write on the digital planner or create textoxes on the spaces in the planner to type in. If you want to create a fillable PDF planner, then you'd need to use external platforms like PDFescape.com to add fillable fields in your PDF planner.
Is taking a Canva template and changing colors, element etc ok to resell?
You can purchase Canva Templates with commercial use rights (like the one I used in the video) and then yes, you will be able to change it up and then resell it to your customers for their personal use.

Hi Faith! I'm hoping you can help me answer a Canva question. Maybe you already have a video on it that I haven't seen yet!
So I'm creating a digital planner on Canva that has elements linked to different pages on every single page. They are all connected. Such as, every page has a "Jan-Dec" tab to hyperlink to that section just like a regular journal. However, because of Canva''s page limit, I had to split it into 2 separate projects which I will then merge together. But now the pages in the 2nd project are disconnected from the ones they need to link to from the first.
Any ideas on how to solve this? I've been researching everywhere and haven't found anything that works Any insights or resources would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance =]
Unfortunately, you can only add hyperlinks to the tabs within the same project. If your planner is too large and need two Canva projects, then I would suggest exporting into PowerPoint and then combining them on PowerPoint instead BEFORE you add the hyperlinks to the tabs and you do that IN PowerPoint itself. I am afraid there's no other workaround.
Unless you host the second planner on a cloud service, for example Google Drive, and then add the hyperlink in a tab of the first planner that links to the second planner so the user can open up the second planner by clicking on a tab in the first one.
However, hyperlinks for the tabs will probably still only toggle within the same project/planner.
@@faithsbizacademy Thanks so much for your response! I found some info on the same thing last night but haven't tried it out yet so this just confirms it for me. My pages in the first project already have hyperlinks attached and the ones in my 2nd do not. Does it make sense to leave the 1st project as is and continue linking for project 2 in Powerpoint? or does that cause a different issue..
@@JahAndSeba if the idea is to merge both files into the same PowerPoint file then I think you should export first and then do the hyperlinks it’s safer. Otherwise the hyperlinks might get messed up in PPT

How do you know where the spine is or where the rings are on the page of the planner?
You can go to file > Settings > Show margins -- and the margins will appear on the page. If you are worried about content of the pages getting blocked by the binder, then restrict the important content within the page margins. Faith, I got a subscription to Fabrica. I downloaded the files I wanted. However, when i tried to upload them to Canva, I got an error message saying that it wasn't the right file format. I was a .png. What am I doing wrong?
I'm so sorry it's difficult for me to troubleshoot. I would try to re-download from Creative Fabrica. Or refresh Canva. Try to drag and drop the specific PNG file onto your Canva dashboard.
Just a question. I downloaded a template and the months weren't in the tabs right. How do you fix that, since it's hyperlinked?
The hyperlinks are tied to the specific page within the project. So as long as you don't delete or rearrange the sequence of the pages and you are just changing the contents of the page itself, the hyperlinks will still work fine. Otherwise you would have to edit the hyperlinks to link to the correct page as desired.

You can use Canva to create the digital planner and any note-taking app to use the digital planner
How do you upload it to Etsy
