I appreciate the tips. If by chance you see this, I'd really appreciate any tips with what to do with my carbon filter in the mean time. Let it dry out or put it in a bag with tank water?
I’ve been using this for years and years mixing it with Repashy to ensure digestion. Just mix it really right before the food solidifys.

Do you need to medicate only one week? Or longer until you see the worms gone?
Do you feed them still?
Could you tell me what you use to treat cotton wool disease? I used 2 doses of the API General Cure along with melafix, I also did a partial water change, added salt and lowered the heater from 78 to 76 as per the recommendations for a betta. Thank you!

You need this in food for it to work effectively.
Use the recommended dose otherwise you can create resistant strains

Will this work when a fish has gotten beat up pretty bad ? My stary night cichlid got really beat up and I’ve been medicating with salt but wasn’t sure if this would help. He’s now in a 10 gallon hospital tank and he has some kind of fungus where the bites are.
I don’t know a ton about general cure. Trying to get as much info on it before I attempt to use it. Would you dose your whole tank? Or remove the fish and treat in quarantine?

Hi, I have some worming issues in my species specific tank (Neolamprologus multifasciatus) with a few of my fishes. The 30 gal tank has 6 males, 4 females & 8 new-born's (15 days old).
1) If I use API General Cure in my tank will it effect my new-born's ??
2) Will it effect any of other multi's who are not suffering from parasite issues ??
If the 2 treatments is not enough, when can you dose it again?
I like to wait two weeks for going again if the fish is just in regular QT. If the fish is truly sick and you can see signs of it I would re teat once a week. Now a days I combine treating the water with medicated foods to make sure the Prazti gets in their gut.

I recently started treating my tank with general cure. I know it doesn’t say to do a water change between the first and second dose. However, there was a mishap where way too much food ended up in the tank right before the second dose. Is it okay that I did a small water change to gravel vac, before the second dose?
This is a question I have too and I hope it gets answered.
@@InsertTitleHere- hey! Are you having this situation, if you need to gravel vac, you could just gravel vac and not replace the water, that way the medication concentration isn’t messed with! Or if you just need to a little bit it and already put the water back in, it didn’t really effect anything. And you can always do another round of general cure too!

Hi and thank you. I think I got parasites from plants and moved my boy to a quarantine tank but would obviously need to dose my fishtank also...will this wipe out the BB in my filtration?

Many times people will do this and let the fish eat it. Some people believe it is a chance to get the food in to there gut. I have mixed feelings. i have done both and still do both depending on the situation. if I have time I like to pre-mix it as a solution and add it and I will also soak softer foods with it and feed it to them as well.

Will the parasites lay eggs in the fish?
Worms usually live in the fish and lay eggs/ cysts that leave the fish with the feces and start the cycle all over again.

If anyone can PLEASE help me save my fish... My Flowerhorn didn't eat for 2 days, and suddenly looked horrible. (Dark color, clamped fins, what looked like a scratched cornea, micro bubbles all over him, and pretty much staying in one spot at the surface.) I immediately dosed the tank with API General Cure. The next day, he passed A TON of dead worms. Another couple days later, he looked completely better. I was SO happy! The problem is, he passed the worms on April 22, and he STILL won't eat. He looks normal, other than his color is completely faded. (Food is what colors him up, after all!) I don't want to lose him... I don't know what to do. Should I dose his tank, again? (Yes, I did the complete treatment of two doses and a water change, as recommended.)

I am sure it does hoe a negative effect on the micro biology of the aquarium.
JH Aquatics you think a lot ? I just finished a treatment changed the water added some carbon and then added some Fritz turbostart
just add warm water and stir, it will dissolve eventually

I am lucky to have a microscope but yes basically i give them time to heal and condition up then I check the fecal samples and slim coat for anything odd then they can leave QT and go into their forever tank. :)
