ONE OK ROCK, stylized as ONE OK ROCK (pronounced in Japanese as "one o'clock"), is a Japanese rock band formed in Tokyo, Japan in 2005. The band currently consists of Takahiro Moriuchi (vocals), Toru Yamashita (guitar/leader), Ryota Kohama (bass), and Tomoya Kanki (drums).
The band's name, ONE OK ROCK, comes from "one o'clock", the time that the band used to practice on weekends. They chose to play at one o'clock in the morning because it was cheaper to use the rehearsal space during such hours. However, noticing that the Japanese language made no distinction between R's and L's, they changed "O'CLOCK" to "O'CROCK" (or "O'KROCK"), which was then separated to become "OK ROCK". In addition, ONE OK ROCK's name can be expressed as "10969" (one-o-ku-ro(ku)-ku)

He can sing in English very well, but his English lyrics is a bit problematic. Some professional should make his expressions better. Then he can be more successful abroad... If I just listen, I did not notice. But there are a lot of awkward expressions.

@@34sniper Taka can sing extremely well in both English and Japanese. I am Japanese so I cannot tell but the native English speakers would likely agree that he can sing songs in English impressively well. However, I doubt that his English lyrics will resonate with the Anglophones and that they think his lyrics poetic and beautiful.
He is just describing one part of the song at a time without integrating them as a whole beautifully. All the pieces are in the song, but the lyrics by itself is basic, if not too unambiguous at a time.
He opens up the song with a story as metaphor, and then this metaphor just ends in two lines without ever coming back. He mumbles along and then he asks ‘Is this our last dance?’ without ever developing a dance as central metaphor in the song, even though ‘last dance’ is the title. He comes up with ideas in the song and just put them together without much metaphor, rhythm and rhyme.
I may be asking too much for a Japanese singer song writer to do this in English, but he is an exceptionally talented singer and some of Anglophone friends, critics can and should improve his English lyrics. He should at least consult with some other Anglophone professional song writers.
For example, the narrative and story of this song is similar to those of the following songs:
Bruce Springsteen: The river. Adele: Hello.
These lyrics by themselves are poetic and beautiful, and easy to imagine the senary of these songs. Taka can sing beautifully well a mediocre lyrics like a gospel song. That is why I was surprised to read this rather poor lyrics. Any case, other people may think this lyrics is beautiful but I do not.
Here are some lines of that can improved, or that I think sound odd.
