Matthay said that when one sits mindlessly repeating a piano exercise he or she is trying to teach the piano the exercise! Guy Maier used the word pian-sit to describe the poor soul who sat endless hours doing repetitive exercises mindlessly. I so appreciate your work! thank you! BTW your Persichetti sounded delightful!! I have those studies...marvelous. I have the Fischer pieces too. I have used Hanon Revisited..which is harmonized version of Hanon...seem to enhance my endeavors to play Bach.. Oh you mentioned Waxman...I have a couple of his books of Exertudes.....enjoyable to use.
Graham, Thank you so much for your videos! Is there a link to the edition of the Chopin sonata you reference? I am working on the ballads and some etudes from op.10, and I would be so thankful for some instruction about proper technique. I am at tempo with good accuracy, but my right and is developing some painful issues and I'm worried I'm doing something harmful and want to still be playing in 40 years. Thank you!
Thank you for the excellent recommendations, dear Maestro! Would you mind writing down the names that you’ve mentioned, for the sake of non-native English speakers?🙏
I'm able to play this kind of musical piece now : th-cam.com/video/Dg935IbDggo/w-d-xo.html Soo my question is : What musical etudes (neither Hanon nor Czerny) should I work on to get better with my technical abilities?
