You should have brought up at the NBA draft combine, his speed and agility test came in second only behind John Wall. So statements like "he lacks speed" was a load of crap.
Not just that. After he started getting big they did a sports science on him, and he had too 5 speed and quicker shot release than Ray Allen. Kid pretty good. Being Taiwanese American, he really amazed me growing up.
Fun fact - I restated Jeremy Lin’s career in 2k20 and he’s averaging 24 points 9.3 assists and 2.1 steals won defensive player of the year twice and Finals mvp 3 times so far
As a black man, knowing what my people went through for 400 year, I think it's absolutely disgusting to see or hear about anyone else getting oppressed and even more disgusting when other black people participate in the oppression of another people! I loved Jeremy for many reasons! He is a believer! He was and always will be a Knick! He's an overcomer! He's Asian! He's athletic! I could go on! He deserved to make it farther and for much longer in the league!
I remember a player called him out for trying to “act black” by having corn rows. Then Lin pointed out that the guy had tattoos written in Chinese. 😬 Edit: guess it was dreads not cornrows, but the hypocrisy is the same. Also, that’s all I was trying to point out. Wasn’t trying to start a race debate
@John Doe That is an offensive comment to make and to generalize against any people John Doe. This is about inspiring people acknowledging a person as a role model to all for their basketball talent and hard work overcoming obstacles, and not being divisive. God bless. I hope you change your ways man.
@John Doe Huh!!! Not sure what that second comment is about. Mr. Doe, this is to talk about NBA player Jeremy Lin. Who is a great Asian American NBA basketball player. A Harvard alum, and a Nets basketball Linsanity scoring phenomenon. While your comment is yours to freely make, it has 'absolutely' nothing to do with this NBA motivational basketball story and this talented player. This is to promote inclusion and diversity. You are doing the opposite. Just don't be offensive or racist to folks because of his heritage. That's just not cool or acceptable at all. I'm sure everyone agrees on this. You actually prove the point of the video actually about why folks that are different have to aim to be the top at anything and not just average or be unfairly judged by folks just as you are doing here. Not cool. Period. Still, God bless, and hope you do change.
@John Doe so because a viras is from china you want to be racist to asian americans? I'm trying to figure out so whenever any kind of virus comes from other countries you just go around having the right to be racist to that group even the ones who live in the U.S. and are just like you? Nah you are a great person bro your parents should be proud of raising such an amazing person
Playing the victim when he was one of the privileged few to have realized a very lucrative childhood dream would have been beyond distasteful. He has more class than the members of his cult that live vicariously through him and are offended on his behalf.
I respect LIN because he said I won a title I feel like I didn't earn... That's crazy. He wants to be a part of the run and not just be on the damn team.
What's puzzling me is that he's been on 8 different teams!!! wth is he doing?? is he really trying to play hard in the nba? he got a championship dude was on the bench the whole time.
@@jiajungao6704 He quit teams for giving him millions of dollars less than other guys and sh#t? jesus not even doctor evil won't receive that from threatening american government
I've met him in the Foot Locker signing autographs when he was playing for LA. I was the first kid to ever meet him and take a picture with. I still have the ball signed by him and I intend to keep it as long as I can.
@All Day Son ah so you're one of those autograph hounds whose only purpose is to go up to famous people, get autographed things, and sell them to the highest bidder.
RIP John Altobelli, Keri Altobelli, Alyssa Altobelli, Christina Mauser, Ara Zobayan, Sarah Chester, Payton Chester, Kobe Bryant, and Gianna Bryant. You will NEVER be forgotten. ❤️
I remember during Linsanity a few high profile celebrities saying "If he was black he wouldnt be getting this attention". I cant help but feel if he WAS black and with the same numbers, he would be playing in the NBA now.
Asian Players are the middle child it seems. Having to work twice as hard just to ecen get noticed. Anybody remember Yao Ming's matchup against Shaq. Yao was absolutely bullying him out of the paint that game, and he's one of the few player Shaq respects.
I also don’t recall anyone saying Yao wasn’t a beast. He’s in the hall of fame. Jeremy Lin was a decent player who overachieved and had a hot stretch before teams figured out his flaws
@@blakelarsen3743 actually he was a ball dominate point guard which means it would be really hard to fit him into an offense without him being the first option
Lakers should sign Jeremy Lin right now.... they literally need a “efficient ball handler” for their second unit. Plus he’s a veteran who has championship experience. Seems perfect
Not a fit. LeBron thrives in a 5 out offense. His shooting isn't good enough to be a perimeter threat. His dribble penetration and pick and roll strengths would be redundant to LeBron. Since the Lakers stagger LBJ and AD I'd rather run the ball through whoever's playing with the second unit than Lin. Plus the Lakers don't really need his "championship experience." He had a whopping 1 minute played in the entire series.
Let's be real, the last time anyone said anything even good about the Knicks was during the linsanity days. They were actually in games and brought people to games. They've been shit since.
IKR, ballhog with no ring and still got picked for the national team for about 400 Olympic tournaments... In Cantonese they call it 老屎忽, which literally means old ass
we asians always had it the hard way whn it comes to sports.. people automatically assumes we're only smart, not athletic or anything and we don't love sports.. Also from majority of our family don't allow us to get a career in sports.. They prefer jobs like becoming doctors.. engineers.. businessmen etc.. its just bs
He is a nicest NBA player you will ever meet. Very down to earth and humble. I had a chance to deal to him on craps game. At first I didn't recognize who he was but I knew that he looked familiar. All I know was that this is one tall Asian dude , then I remember it was Jeremy Lin. I wish him the best for whatever journey in his future.
Fact: Jeremy Lin had the fastest acceleration in the first two steps of any player in his draft class. (Refer to "The Undoing Project") Yet no one drafted him. People's biased, subjective assessment labelled him as "not terribly athletic", even though the objective measurements proved otherwise.
Make sense, watching the Linsanity game he had against the Lakers, it was crazy to see how many players he drove passed so quickly and they couldn't do anything about it. Great body control and could take hits.
Nah he isn't a legend that's just a lie. He made no impact for us in the championship run and I bet a large portion of the fan base doesn't even know he was a Raptor
@JoshJonesJr1 Tell that to our massive Chinese population that was repping him hard on WeChat and in the city. Ask anyone under 30 that speaks Mandarin in Toronto, and they"ll tell you what was up.
That's what the fuck I'm talking about it's because he's Chinese get fucking real nba good thing he got a nba ring and carmelo and Cp3 them two don't get shit wow
Carmelo Who? I ain't never heard of no Carmelo. Whoever he his, he might have gotten a ring if Lin was on the floor where he belonged. People are stupid (except Lin).
AND THE CHINESE ARE ALSO GUILTY OF BULLYING!! SO MORAL? EVERYBODY!! STOP ACTING AS IF YOU OWN, YOUR STRONGER AND INFLUENTIAL THAN EVERYONE ELSE!! STOP BEING A FUCKIN' DICK!!
The Chinese are guilty of bullying? I thought we were talking about 1 man? Every man has there own character and should be judged as a individual. This idea of grouping all races or character all together with a verb as if we're all not different is obviously impossible to be correct and a ignorant statement.
@@rommeldones6980 yeah we're talking about an individual here not a "race". Cause u are part of a "race" doesn't mean it responsible for what others part of that "race" have done. Btw race is a bogus construct made to justify colonialism and the terrible brutality that comes with it
Wow. This is probably one of the best videos summarizing Jeremy’s career. It’s interesting that people were so quick to say “he’s trash” after his stint in Toronto didn’t go quite as planned. Everyone in toronto seems to always highlight the fact that he didn’t deserve his ring. What about the 6 other dudes on the bench that didn’t get PT? Anyways.. I hope Jeremy can somehow make it back into the league and have a revival in his career.
Yes, The NBA has been around for 70 years. And the other US pro BB organizations before, such as ABA. Every one of those 70+ years, there were benched players who had little or no play during their respective year's playoffs, but when their team won, how come I haven't heard any one whining about those benched who contributed little or no play during their run? When people whine about Lin not deserving the championship because he was mostly benched, why was he singled out? After 70 years this was the first time I had heard a player being ragged on because he wasn't playing a lot. First off, he was brought to the Raptors midseason, perhaps not enough time to know how to play with the new team. Second, he was still just getting over an injury a year earlier. Perhaps not as quick as he used to be & maybe not as confident. Nick Nurse just didn't have enough confidence in him, there wasn't enough time, even though he used him on court during regular season. Again though, he deserves the championship just as much as the guys who were used very little or none at all in the previous 7 decades of NBA championships.
@@isaiahlezama9570 ... Yes that's true. Haha I would love to see what happens if they run out of benched players due to injury & illness. I'm teasing but i'd like to see a team make their coaching staff dress down to play on the court as their last resort in an extreme scenario where if they ever run out of players IN a game, not between games. :)
Faxxxx!!! What about these past teams that won a ring! How come y’all don’t say that their bench players don’t deserve it!?.. Oh right cause he’s asian ..
@@gordonlove5121 ... Yeah, the fact that Lin did a lot to resurge the franchise in 2012, leapt into stardom overnight, then over 9 years sort of went downhill mainly due to injuries & then as a former star not being able to contribute that much during the Raptors run made people poke fun at the guy his past celeb stature gave him much attention that here's this guy we all know but he just sat on the bench (yeah, one long ass sentence). Different factors all contributed & culminated... injuries made him less confident & perhaps slightly slower, acquired midseason by Raptors, because of that Nick Nurse wasn't sure how to use him, & there were other big players on the roster they had to use.
I feel so sorry for Jeremy Lin. I noticed it too when i was following the NBA. For 1, Security harrass him by accusing him of not being a NBA player, literally every time he enters the stadium, he had to deal with this crap. 2. He was oppressed throughout his career. When he was with the Warriors, people were so excited to see him play!! It was like as if Micheal Jordan took the floor. When he took the floor, it was a revolution for Asian Americans, oppressed for a long long time at everything, from Hollywood to sports. 3. He had an amazing season with the Knicks but because he was asian, everyone in the NBA were jealous of him and tried to discard him, this includes Carmelo Anthony. 4. He was a 6th man, most of the time, even though he was better than their starters. 5. The NBA basically down right discriminated him since then in the NBA. Not only was he paid less than most players, but he was better in performance than most players too. 6. I did not forget what Kobe did to Jeremy Lin on Kobe's retirement year. That waas downright an asshole move and thats partially why I no longer respect Kobe. I do not care how many points Kobe Scored or how sad his death was because I no longer respect Kobe. This is why I stop watching the NBA. I gone back to NCAA where people are respected more, NBA became a corporate greed and a giant joke. How bad is it? NBA would manipulate games just to make more money like pushing the series to game 7 as much as possible. Bottom line, America talks about diversity and equality? its a Joke. Whenever an Asian man comes up on the road to being awesome, they tried to shut him up. Bruce Lee was murdered by Americans because he was becoming successful.
Excuse me white man. What do you know about racism? I have been living in this country for 65 years with brown skin and the one thing I can tell you is: YOU are the racist. You don't look at a person and see a human being. You see black, white, yellow, red... That is the exact opposite of what MLK said.
Excellent video, every point you made was 100% true and valid. Jeremy Lin had an incredible run and he deserves all the credit in the world for overcoming every obstacle and rising to the highest level when the door cracked open. It is ridiculous and unfair how he has been treated since, but nothing can take away his historic Linsanity run. You know you’re fucked when your own teammates want to see you fail.
@@FeiTaN70-If he was good he would be in The NBA. Deron William's isn't in the league anymore. Is he Asian? Roy Hibbert, Andrew Bynum, Johnny Flynn, Derrick Williams, Anthony Bennett. I guess they're all Asian too.
As an Asian American who is currently in high school and is trying to get an athletic scholarship, Jermey Lins's story is an inspiration to me. After not knowing what actually happened to him over the years and just listening to the media his story makes me feel even more dedicated to what I am doing right now and how much hard work I need to put in. Thanks for the great video!
The fact that he actually produces numbers and nobody’ has signed him by now is bs. He can easily come off the bench or even start in some teams. I feel for this guy, he just wants to live his dream in the NBA.
He had a rough run with the Raptors.. Seems like everyone just gave up on him after his final stint. I'm sure he could help be a productive player for someone in the NBA.. It's not fair to give up on him because of 23 game span.
It is tough bro. I'm usually the last pick because of who I am. I couldn't even made the team even though I am better than most athletes who I competed against but because of my identity that most people think that I'm not athletic enough. I have to prove it more than most people but one thing that made me feel good about myself is that I proved them wrong.
Bruh stop cappin! Nate Robinson is more baller than J Lin and Jamal Crawford not even in the NBA just to name a few... Lin wasn’t ballin like that if so he would be the new Yao Ming! NBA not gonna use him as a chess piece to spread into Asia? If he was good they would of it’s for their best interest mad monies. He had one good week what bout the other 52 weeks? Stephon Marbury had to play in China too, many ppul did!
This was so well done. Amazing job man straight up. I really hope Jeremy Lin himself gets to watch this cuz there’s tons of people rooting for him and the many others I’m sure this has or may also happen to unfortunately. Amazing job wow
He's good at that, but the problem is a lot of the others are better than him. His shooting was average at best. That's why he couldn't coexist with Harden, he couldn't really shoot and needed the ball in his hands all the time to be effective. It's a very niche role in the NBA right now.
That last statement is debatable, but not far from the truth. Lin pushed through so much just to reach something little, just to get fucked over. His positive impact on fans is well deserved, but that’s nowhere near enough to credit Jeremy for all he did and all he could’ve done.
No doubt it took some real courage to put out this video in fear of how it would be perceived. Especially for a smaller channel trying to grow. You did a good thing here man. Much respect! Sub earned and very well deserved. Keep up the good work!
He graduated from Harvard; he’d already ahead of everyone else with THAT degree. Sure wish I had it! Hope he signs with someone, damn sure deserves it!
Him an Ryan Fitzpatrick both Harvard grads, they get overlooked but both have sparks of greatness they remained overlooked but at the end of the day they still have degrees from Harvard 🤓💯💥
LOL Camelo is STILL in the NBA and will be a Hall of Famer when he retires. Jeremy will only be a trivia question. Stop hating on Camelo! He didn't kick Linn out of the league. Linn DID NOT win a ring! He was given one. He sat on the bench the whole series!
@@hanyao2583 yes, the multimillionaire former NBA player is in a more financially advantageous position in life than I am. Very astute of you.The point still stands. In an NBA filled with talent at the guard position, teams will pass on a mediocre journeyman guard with a history of season ending injuries.
dillamadukes21 maybe that’s just a small case to you americans but to us asians it was like a motivation to asians that even us the yellow skin race are able to fight into the nba. You just won’t understand how we asians are always underestimate by those arrogant americans. no hatred feeling towards US but in sports they hv dominated the sports for such a long time and treated asians poorly as u can get all the info from this video. Lin was one of the example as he should be on the same par as lou williams or other types of sixthman player instead of getting called a mediocre player by you fellows whom never expected him to be success.
@@hanyao2583 I don't understand how any of what you've typed is relevant to the question of why Jeremy Lin doesn't have a job in the NBA. The question of racial representation isn't relevant to general managers deciding who to pay millions of dollars in the pursuit of winning. Lou Williams can come off the bench and CONSISTENTLY give your team 20 points on any given night; Jeremy Lin's talent ceiling was never that high. The NBA would LOVE if an Asian basketball player had the skill set and durability of Lou Will. It's unhealthy to live vicariously through the success of others, especially on racial grounds. Do you love the sport, or do you love the ego boost of seeing someone who looks like you enjoying success in the sport? When perusing an interest whether athletic or academic, your focus should be on yourself and what you're getting out of the activity, NOT the racial dynamics of said activity.
Man, his whole career is really tough you know.Jeremy described that his NBA career is like a waiting game.He is always hard working and waiting for an opportunity to prove himself to become a player that he wants to become in his entire career. I really wish that he can retire in the NBA not CBA.
Yup I wasn't even watching basketball much at that time but when linsanity was wildin out my ass was watching every Knicks game haha. It was fun while it lasted.
Their chemistry completely fell apart with Melo’s iso on D’Antonis coaching....bro they reminded me of the Phoenix suns.... Lin being fundamental and an efficient passer and scorer just like Nash... they really had something there..
@@Kevin-fn2su I will never forgive the Knicks and the ownership for what they did with Linsanity. They let Melo fuck the whole thing up. I hadn't seen the New York fan base that excited in years.
Lin was a team player putting others in front of himself. His skill, character, and attitude should have made him a key component to any team. He suffered from bias and an intolerant NBA that doesn't practice the inclusion it so often preaches. Lin is a champion!
Jack Jones I agree. I blame Micheal Jordan for this (even though he’s considered the GOAT). He changed the NBA’s perspective that one person can win a championship. But that’s not true. Now that’s all the NBA looks for. That one individual that is like Mike but not all have to be like Mike to be a champion.
Jlin was such a role models because despite all the unfairness that was against him, he never blamed on other people and took personal accountability on his failures. He was injured partly because many players played dirty and did a bunch of flagrant fouls on him without any consequences from the refs.
That right there is his problem. He was terrible at making adjustments. You play around the whistle. If you aren't getting the calls then you should do something else.
@@sunfyre4705 if he doesnt play hard then theyre gonna say he has below average athleticism cuz hes asian. But if he plays hard then he gets other Black players trying to shut him down with hard flagrant fouls.
He is average when it comes to athleticism in the NBA. The issue here is that he doesn't compensate for when the calls aren't going his way. Even LeBron nowadays doesn't nearly get enough calls when he gets hacked. Still doesn't let that get in the way of his game. The greats complain but they adjust. Lin was never great. He was an average player that rode an incredible hot streak under a coach that is known to make point guards look like gold.
I am not Asian, but I am a New Yorker... Lin brought so much inspiration to so many. it would be a true shame NOT to see him play again in the NBA... even more so, to see him end his career in the NBA. If playing in China truly makes him happy... then much respect to you Jeremy!!! I too believe the NBA failed Jeremy Lin
Right, on my team in highschool we had an Asian dude, and very few people bothered to learn his name and just called him Lin. He was a cool dude, but cursed like a sailer and dropped more N bombs than a rapper.
I loved this video!!! It touched on some many points that were NEEDED to be talked about! You explained everything so well and Jeremy Deserves so much better than what he is getting...I pray that his life will be turned around.
He doesn’t need to be in the NBA. He has already won and will continue to live as a winner. He has proved it over and over again. He has made it to NBA and Harvard. Come on, he is an NBA champion. Regardless of what people say, it’s in the records. I reckon he is already doing well in China fending well for his family. Validation does not necessarily only come from the NBA. So proud of Lin. His linsanity still thrives!
Ache Khalo facts, oversees pays well also, as long as he’s getting the respect over there. Carmelos name is what gets him the money he makes, that man has never been that outstanding of a player since the nuggets. Lin is great, just wasn’t handled well in the league and was expected to cross to many unfair hurdles. Yes everyone has to overcome obstacles but at some point it gets ridiculous.
Kerry Chang I mean look at the raptors roster lol you weren’t going to play Lin over Lowry or Vanvleet ever nor did Lin shoot or provide the sufficient defense someone like Green brought. It wasn’t like the raptors were in a situation where playing Lin was the obvious choice. It’s just how the cards were dealt.
Wanted to talk shit about George Floyd tho. Is this leftist idea of equality just one sided and not for true diversity between all demographics? I don’t get it.
Lin's speed is arguably one of the fastest in the nba. But I still don't understand the question is why so many Americans look down on Asians. Can't Asians play nba? I really don't understand. How many people's dreams into the nba, lin can enter the nba is already very great. Lin has surpassed a lot of players but is looked down upon by the nba. Lin is already a player who has won the championship. Now Lin is playing in China cba, he also has a very good performance. Lin is a player I've always admired and I really hope to see lin back in the nba one day. Jesus bless lin.
I don't know about you, but the NBA is probably the most racist organization (if not, #1) in America I've ever seen against Asians and it's absolutely sad and pathetic. I've watched MLB & NFL, but you never hear any racist comments and racist mainstream media backlash towards Asian athletes in those sports. It's as if Lin is being targeted by a bunch of crooks in their power to do whatever they can to ruined Lin's basketball career (which they succeeded). The NBA has such a very low percentage of Asians, like only 0.2% So it's a no-brainer that the NBA continues to confirmed their racism against Asians, but of course they will act like they aren't when it's already a FACT that they are.... (Using the NBA for this example) There's a saying that if you're an Asian person living in America, you're only allowed to be successful by this much -> |||||||||| But if you're White or Black you're allowed to be successful by this much -> |||||||||||||||||||| Goes to show the NBA is only a White and Black superiority culture and have been like that for many years. #NBA #RacistTowardsAsians
Woah don’t group Americans like that. The West Coast loves Asians and Asian anything. And in Seattle we really like Asians like when Ichiro Suzuki was playing baseball for Seattle we all loved him and more so than rest of the team. The NBA just prefers black people and will throw in token white players. It’s just probably the most raciest organization America has that just happens to be a sports organization. America is seriously a weird melting pot of everything and sometimes the few racist idiots pops up and makes the world think we are racist. I’ve been to 49 of our states and seriously black people are the most racist people in America.

Thank you so much for this video 🙏🏿 I knew Jeremy Lin from the Raptors, being from the 6ix but I never knew how much of a struggle he had to go through, especially being such a great baller. Absolutely ridiculous. The NBA failed him, but it seems that we as fans of the game did too. To my Asian brothers and sisters, we need to do you better. 🤜🏿🤛🏼
As a lifetime NY Knicks fan, I think it would be a great PR move to bring Jeremy back when the NBA finally plays again. He is healthy now, playing very well in China and is better than most of the guards the Knicks have on the roster now. I believe he would energize the fan base and It would bring some life back to a dead team.
No, he shouldn't. Stop bringing race to everything. People like you make me sick. Jimmere Fridette and Stephon Marbury dominated CBA. It doesn't mean they can be good nba players. Even Melo didn't get to play in NBA for a year.

Thats just not in america, Anywhere you go, mam. I am an asian too. Its also a land of opprtunities, like lin suceeded, he earned it..sure it was hard.. Many black athlethes did, after the slavery era.. They resisted and made way for themselves. A country with a majority of their atheles are black cant b racist, or not even 80% of them are racist. These athletes are their heroes, they can die for to meet them once Btw no offence, what do you think? Theres no racism in china, japan, korea or in these part of the world?
G B yo, don’t say one race is more racist, that’s perceived as racist. just let Blacks say Whites are automatically racist, and that African Americans can’t be racist, they’re a little confused bc that’s racist in itself.
David Kagurabadza oh yeah it wasn’t much, just speaking the truth, my truth. we all know that if u say that you’re not allowed to be racist is an extremely racist comment to all the other races. then again saying that all white people are racist, is plain out racist, because ur hating on someone by the color of their skin and not the content of their character(MLK said it best.) at the end of the day this is a Godless America, and honestly it’s being corrupted mainly by the media trying to dethrone God, by showing fake news, and not showing responsibility. hey man Godbless you, have a wonderful day tomorrow at school or work or whatever.
Yeah, man.. Kobe really said that he doesn't know who Jeremy Lin was.. Then, later that night Lin dropped 38 points and the Knicks won the game.. You don't know this? c'mon, 2011-2012 is not that long ago.. Linsanity is literally one of the biggest story for that season..
Fr people never realize or count asian discrimination as racism, As an Asian American athlete I know how much Asians are discriminated but it is never acknowledged by others
Jared Dudley can defend and is a lockeroom leader. Lin is an Asian guy who people expect to start because he is Asian when you have CLEARLY better guards on almost every nba bench..
@William Evans those guards can defend much better than Lin tho.. or are better leaders or lockerroom guys ( like Jared Dudley for instance) Lin has been given alot more opportunities than other guys with his talents level because he is a popular player among fans.. people still complaining about how the league are against Lin when they have given him so much opportunities because he sells is just laughable.. like I said lin has a place in this league no debate...somewhere on the deep end of a bench but since he now believes the hype because of fans like urself, he feels to good for it and thus will rather play in China or something where he can be a stat, cuz at NBA level he is far from a star player, he is a star persona tho...
The difference offs that lin is a TRUE point that can score. Dudley is a spot up shooter that is streaky from the line. No mid range game, limited handles, sees the court well, but doesn't have the passing ability to get the ball to the players. Lin can do all those things with a high IQ game wise.
Yes of course Lin can still be in NBA. Last year there were TWO rumors that Portland was interested in Jeremy, one in January & one after raptor championship, but both times it didn't pan out.. Me, being both a Blazer & Jeremy fan, I wanted him in Portland. Instead, his old controversial Knicks teammate Carmelo get acquired by Blazers. After all those old rumors of Carmelo's envy of Jeremy 8 years ago, I was saddened that Blazers got him instead of Lin, especially after those 2 trade rumors last year gave me some hope. Oh the irony! Because of that, I don't really watch Blazers anymore. In fact I stopped watching Blazers at end of 2016 when they stopped televising on commercial TV. Oh well. Lin is doing well in CBA. I would think NBA would ask him back this next season. But which team? I'd like to see him with Blazers & reunite with Carmelo, haha. Or maybe back with Knicks!
Because the subject matter is about Lin, so I commented on what I preferred. Lin is a veteran, so he would be ready off the bench. Look what happened in 2012 with the Knicks. Still basically a rookie, but was able to gel with the team right away & became an international sensation overnight. Overrated? Why overrated when he got the Knicks back to 0.500 in a month. Has Simons become an overnight world sensation in just 2-5 weeks, with everyone shouting his name? Umm, nope, just typical normal time of evolution for a new player. Am I a Lin fan? Yes of course & I'm touting what I hope could be one possible future. If NBA doesn't want him back, fine, he can continue in CBA. But if NBA wants lin back & he wants to return desperately, he can go to a team & sign at near or at minimum veteran salary & see how it goes. Test the waters. As a vet, he can help with the rookies to develop. Oh & where are the Blazers now? Currently around 11th in WC.
He's killing it in the CBA right now, considering the virus outbreak they're having over there, I wouldn't be surprised if they cancelled the season and someone picked up him in the NBA as a backup or insurance.
@@Masteralvin I dont know if he's that good still, he lost a step after the knee injury, he's still pretty fast but he's no longer elite level. His 3pt shooting is suspect, he's ALWAYS changing up his form, right now it's in a weird place.
He hasn’t moved on, he’s still training and trying to prove that he deserves to be in the NBA. He doesn’t care abt the money. He loves basketball and all he wants to do is play against the best players in the world. He still cried after he made tons of money. It’s a great example of how money can’t buy u happiness
@@PRXDVENOM i see what your saying but Jeremy Len is winning over all because he’s not being killed. Heb got bullied. Being an athlete is a big deal in the black community. Asians laugh at athletes . They’re busy doing brain transplants and heart surgeries. How’s that for racist?
100% agree. This is the first video about the Jeremy Lin situation where I absolutely agreed with everything said. I can name 10 players STARTING on NBA teams rn that I would say are not better than Jeremy Lin.
Dude, this was so well put together! Lin aside, great work on your part to take the time and have the knowledge you do on these topics no one else talks about!!
Look at Kyrie Irving's stats compared to him. Kyrie has never averaged as little PPG as Jeremy Lin's BEST ever season. Kyrie's worst ever season in terms of PPG was 18.5, Lin's best season he averaged 14.6. So this is why nobody wants him in the NBA. Not because he's Asian.
@@AlwaysRetr0 That's a shitty comparison. Kyrie is one of the best players in the league. Of course Lin isnt as good as Kyrie. Hardly anyone is. But he's damn sure better than a lot of guys who are in the NBA now. He had 18 points and 7 assists per 36. That's more than good enough to get a spot in the NBA If you think it has anything to do with anything other than race then you're a racist dude. Because he is more talented than half the league rn
He’s Asian. Quite simple. These politics play on regular hoops as well. At least in my experience. Asian dudes get picked get picked quite a lot before other races unless y’all was close friend or the Asian dude could hoop.

That reporter said it was accidental, a Freudian racist slip if you were. He profusely apologized, fans angered him, then fired. But Christ-like as Jeremy was & is, he invited the guy to dinner or something, can't recall what. That ex-reporter then searched his soul & he had since become a priest. Kindness is given back to those who ask for forgiveness in humility & well intentions. Evven perhaps if he actually really did make a racist comment but realized later that it was wrong to himself & not to just save face. That forgiveness from Jeremy shows you that he is just as good off the court as well as on.
On point period. Bias, lack of character; spineless and shameless cowards are not the attributes of great players like Jeremy Lin, but rather some so-called manly folks in the organization called the NBA. Yet, notice how he (Lin in his outcast status), still won a deserving championship ring--this was his reward--for the many years of backstabbing (NBA and NCAA scouts and NCAA schools), betrayal (Coaches like D'Antoni and B Scott) and jealousy (Mello, just wrong). I won't forget and neither will real history. It's still true: you can't keep a good man down!
Clippers got 3 PG already, pat bev, lou will, and jerome robinson. They need more big man first remembering Zubac is the only 7 foot guy on that team, even Harrell is severely undersized for his position and they play him at 5.
@@andrechristianto4675 Lou Will is more SG than PG. I like Lou and all, specially his scoring, but sometimes I watch him make some dumb passes. As for Robinson, I see him as another piece that we could trade for a big man. Maybe package him with Jamychal Green or Patterson, or even Kabengele. I don't know. We have Terance Mann as his replacement.
Giovanni Manalang tbh sg v pg argument is a diminished point of discussion. Lou will brings the ball up the court just as much as any “pg” you can think of. I mean for all intents and purposes, lebron is a sf/pf. Albeit that doesn’t stop the coaching plan from patting him bring the ball up the court.
His defense is terrible. Him and Lou Will in the backcourt would be a buffet line for opposing backcourts. The Lakers don't particularly need someone with his skill set. None of the contending teams need someone with his skill set. If someone takes a flyer on him it would be a low seed or a non-playoff team.
Growing up in Houston i remember my first impression of him because i knew he was a difference that the NBA needed. I still have the ticket to the game back in 2013 against the Timberwolves. One thing i did notice was they had a lot of marketing material out for him. I knew he was good but this video just confirmed all of my suspicions.
Man, I remember being so hype for him during the Linsanity era, and of course I celebrated him getting a ring. I remember wondering how he "came out of nowhere" and wasn't even drafted. Especially after I watched some of his Harvard game film. Honestly, my mind never went to racism. Maybe because I'm Black, and I figured the one place minorities get a fair shake is athletic competition, where skill covers up prejudice (Thanks to people like Jackie Robinson). Damn, I feel like I had my head in the sand. Thanks for this. Subscribed.
@KentoOfHardrock I'm from Australia and i thought the same as you mate. I always assumed that the minortites in the U.S would not be racist to each other because they have experienced racism from white people and wouldn't allow the colour of someones skin to become a point of prejudice amongst each other but rather let merit be the judgement of ones character...i guess i was wrong and niave to think humans could be capable of such fairness.
spaceforrest let’s be very honest. Ask any asian person in America this question: how many times has a black person been racist towards you?? And how many times has a white person been racist towards you?? I guarantee you, the black number doubles the white! What am I saying, that in America, the second class minorities (Asians, Mexicans, etc)(first class minority are blacks) get the most racism and hate from the first class minorities. Fact!
@@00ninja00 I'll say this, I knew he was a gifted athlete but definitely didn't realize how tough his path to the NBA was, nor how tough it was just to be constantly proving himself. However, that second class racism works both ways as black folks in the workforce experience the same discrimination and have just as tough time proving themselves in the business arena. We all need to reflect on how we let race play a role in our consideration of others. I believe this was a well argued piece which hopefully we all can grow from.
Lets be honest, his path being tough in the NBA had nothing to do with black people but everything to do with how the white team owners view athleticism and what is marketable !
Melo is a sore looser instead being happy one of his teamate like Lin got a good shot in NBA he turn him down... F*** u Melo ur retiring without a ring Karma is your bitch!! lmao
Lin had a small interview in the recent documentary "The Ugly Model" about asian men being stereotyped and being marginalized in the west. He states that he feels even after he proved he had game he never got respect from any of the other players and was never taken seriously. It most definitely had to do with his race. I remember when Linsanity happened many players and media pundits trashed him saying he's only getting attention because he's asian, he's a fluke, it was just the D'Antoni system, etc. and his elite athleticism was always downplayed or soft racism would be used like calling him "deceptively quick" or "deceptively athletic" as if asians can't be explosive athletes. Any of his mistakes would be magnified while his good play would be downplayed because confirmation bias had people looking for him to be "exposed". They just couldn't accept that an asian just might be an all-star caliber player. The NBA is a fraternity and Lin was never accepted due to his race combined with the huge attention he was getting causing resentment among some players. Same thing happened to Jimmer Fredette. He was a square white mormon kid getting a ton of attention and focus and his teammates on the Kings resented it. Like Lin he was never truly given a fair shot. The "no defense" thing used against Jimmer to run him out of the league somehow didn't apply to Isaiah Thomas or James Harden.
@@marcusjmalone1996 I watched all his games when he was on the Kings. They never gave him a shot. His teammates didn't like him because of the attention he was getting, Keith Smart didn't like him and constantly benched him for Isaiah Thomas even when he was playing well. Demarcus Cousins demanded Isaiah start over him. He would sometimes drop 13 points in a single quarter only toget benched the rest of the game. He'd get DNP randomly. Teammates wouldn't pass him the ball when he was open, etc. He dropped 30+ when his China team played the Rockets. Clearly he has a spot in this league that's moved toward the 3-point shot.
Nice story and hats off to Jeremy Lin. Definitely, Lin has more talent than some players in the NBA but unfortunately his whole life he had to prove himself and over come barriers throughout his career. I guess it's going to take a while stereotype prejudice will diminish in most professional sports in US.

Rob webnoid also you need so many people on the bench in case of injury and for practice.
@@isaiahlezama9570 ... Yes that's true. Haha I would love to see what happens if they run out of benched players due to injury & illness.

Whatever happened. I'm just glad he's got himself a ring!
He doesn't even like talking about it because he feels like he didn't earn it, and that says a lot about a professional player.
I love lin but he did not impress during his time with raptors. I mean, his teammates gave him plenty of looks. Too much injuries.
Nobody want an unathletic guy who don't play defense.
This was so well done. Amazing job man straight up.
I really hope Jeremy Lin himself gets to watch this cuz there’s tons of people rooting for him and the many others I’m sure this has or may also happen to unfortunately.
Amazing job wow

The Jong the games are rigged
@Justforstyle satana lol no he didn't. Smh.
Justforstyle santana as a Raptors fan. I was just praying he wouldn’t mess up when he played. He wasn’t great
He's good at that, but the problem is a lot of the others are better than him. His shooting was average at best. That's why he couldn't coexist with Harden, he couldn't really shoot and needed the ball in his hands all the time to be effective. It's a very niche role in the NBA right now.
Lin never had his own team. After "Linsanity", he played with Kobe and Harden. The two most ball dominant players ever.
That last statement is debatable, but not far from the truth. Lin pushed through so much just to reach something little, just to get fucked over. His positive impact on fans is well deserved, but that’s nowhere near enough to credit Jeremy for all he did and all he could’ve done.
And in both of those situations he wasn't consistent. As a laker fan i wanted him to do well. There were moments he looked like a rookie.
Let's just say what it is. "Ball Dominant" is just a PC way of saying, Ball Hogs. It is what it is.
Carmelo Anthony is the reason why Jeremy Lin's career from linsanity to nothing.

@@hanyao2583 yes, the multimillionaire former NBA player is in a more financially advantageous position in life than I am. Very astute of you.The point still stands. dillamadukes21 maybe that’s just a small case to you americans but to us asians it was like a motivation to asians that even us the yellow skin race are able to fight into the nba.
Linsanity was one of the few bright moments the Knicks have had in decades.
And yes Mello was ultra salty with a dash of Petty over Lin’s successes.
Yup I wasn't even watching basketball much at that time but when linsanity was wildin out my ass was watching every Knicks game haha. It was fun while it lasted.

He was injured partly because many players played dirty and did a bunch of flagrant fouls on him without any consequences from the refs.
mythek , agree. Lin is a good role model
He was cheated of his opportunity to play. In the NBA.
I am not Asian, but I am a New Yorker...
The NBA has such a very low percentage of Asians, like only 0.2%
So it's a no-brainer that the NBA continues to confirmed their racism against Asians, but of course they will act like they aren't when it's already a FACT that they are....
(Using the NBA for this example)
There's a saying that if you're an Asian person living in America, you're only allowed to be successful by this much -> ||||||||||

Woah don’t group Americans like that. The West Coast loves Asians and Asian anything. And in Seattle we really like Asians like when Ichiro Suzuki was playing baseball for Seattle we all loved him and more so than rest of the team.
Dudley has the size and the defensive ability that Lin doesnt have..plus he is a league rep and player favorite
I was rooting for this to happen to being a blazers and lin fan
We need him in the warriors
He's killing it in the CBA right now, considering the virus outbreak they're having over there, I wouldn't be surprised if they cancelled the season and someone picked up him in the NBA as a backup or insurance.

Somebody gotta pick up lin, his jersey sales always high hes an idol for all asian americans. Having him on ur team helps viewership and brings in a lot more revenue for the team. Somebody gotta pick my guy Lin up💯Hopefully the knicks realize we suck and will pick him up again
Young Oddo sorry but What makes you think a professional NBA team wants a player based on jersey sales or because he is an “idol” my idol is a black person and I’m Mexican, not that many Mexican basketball players but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other idols to look at, and he’s a mediocre player and I’m sure that many people wouldn’t watch Jeremy Lin just because he is coming back, we have Alr seen his prime, he’s not bad, but he’s not great, he won’t be good anymore, tbh that nigga is ass and I wish he would join the nba just so Luka Doncic can cross him over and make a 3 on his ass
PeonsGetClapped I know hes not like Luka but just from a business standpoint having him on the bench on a 3 mil contract playing garbage time his jersey sales will definitely be more than 3m. All those China viewers who would watch Lin?👀🇨🇳The Nba would definetely profit with Lin in the league
@@peonsgetclapped8845 are you kidding me. Do you know NBA is business? The fact that you said you would enjoy seeing him getting crossed by luka is proof of his view drawing potential.
@@peonsgetclapped8845 He was mishandled by the teams. He could have beat Luka if Linsanity continued.
@@peonsgetclapped8845 Lin dropped Kobe's Lakers
As a New Yorker, Linsanity still feels like some dream I had as opposed to something that actually happened.
Man honestly had Allstar potential and should easily be in the NBA still.
@Feezie F-Baby potential? Yes he had that
Honestly speaking, Lin’s OVR is about 75-85 range. Not so good as Top 10 PG in NBA, but definitely a reliable sixth man
LMAOOOOOOOOOOO
@@ericcoen8894 lol you missed the entire video
at the end of the day, even if he doesnt feel like he deserves it. he has more nba titles than many players hes played with.
Diego Glez Vazq yep, more than that bitch ass Carmelo Anthony
Defo yeah
This is so emotional, for an athlete who have had so many rejections throughout his career he deserves more credit.
Jeremy deserves to be back in the NBA. His basketball talent ranks with the elite players
Great video! Jeremy Lin got raw/no deals from the NBA and Div 1 college teams. They should be ashamed of themselves.
I totally agree
I was curious how serious his injuries were but if he’s playing healthy in China he could’ve def played in the US
Stay Strong Linsanity
I wished Lin wouldn't have given Harden the ball as much as he did I really wanted to see him ball out in Houston
Let’s us all not forget the time when Kobe asked for the ball and Lin said nah 😂
And?
And let’s not forget about the espn reporter who wrote “Chink in his Armor”
That reporter said it was accidental, a Freudian racist slip if you were. He profusely apologized, fans angered him, then fired. But Christ-like as Jeremy was & is, he invited the guy to dinner or something, can't recall what. That ex-reporter then searched his soul & he had since become a priest. Kindness is given back to those who ask for forgiveness in humility & well intentions. Evven perhaps if he actually really did make a racist comment but realized later that it was wrong to himself & not to just save face. That forgiveness from Jeremy shows you that he is just as good off the court as well as on.
the ESPN reporter said it wasn't meant as racially motivated, Lin invited him to dinner and said he didn't think it was racial.
Ray Sookar it was still fucking racist to blame Jeremy’s success on the lack of defense from the other team.
holy
@@raysookar9486 how you said c word without racially motivated, it's the same you said n word
Won?!
Yes won do you understand

I know cats that never played college ball better than Jeremy Lin myself included, he was trash.
Seriously, the Clippers should look at getting him as backup for Pat Bev. No real backup PG for the Clippers right now. Might just be the right fit
Giovanni Manalang And the lakers.Avery Bradley is shit I don’t get why they aren’t starting rondo
Subscribed.
@KentoOfHardrock
I'm from Australia and i thought the same as you mate.
Fact!
00ninja00 wow man. Thats fucked up.
Racism never dies for the people who has insecurities.
Amen

Jeremy Lin still has more rings than melo.
EMAN BTW Well said!
yep, lin>melo
and melo aint ever gonna win a ring haha, fuck melo
Melo is a sore looser instead being happy one of his teamate like Lin got a good shot in NBA he turn him down... F*** u Melo ur retiring without a ring Karma is your bitch!! lmao
and Harden
DystopiaX don’t bring jimmer in this lmao. He was not good when he entered the big league lmao
As a kings fan, Jimmer was also an egotistical ass so his teammates had a reason to dislike him.
for the first time in history, it's because he AIN'T black. :O
Yeah jimmer got screwed too
Why wasn’t this recommended to me sooner.
Nice story and hats off to Jeremy Lin. Definitely, Lin has more talent than some players in the NBA but unfortunately his whole life he had to prove himself and over come barriers throughout his career. I guess it's going to take a while stereotype prejudice will diminish in most professional sports in US.
ABSOLUTE GREAT INTRO BROTHA. Very captivating overall message!
