Forgot to mention - some Apple products are typically re-released a year later, and if you're using an iPod touch 5th gen that was manufactured after around 9/2013, it may not work since the device never shipped with iOS 6 in the first place. You can usually find the date from when your Apple products was manufactured on many different websites. As long as it shipped with iOS 6 or previously ran iOS 6 in the past, then you should be good!

It's just an echo from the early 2010's, and nostalgia kicks really hard when you go back to this version. It is still possible to ota downgrade, however i have not found a way to do it since the setup crashes mid-way if you try the same methof as the ios 8 downgrade. I also have to try to downgrade a 5S to ios 10, since its also ota downgradable.

Just make sure to have an mfi wire, to disable Touch ID + passcode and to disconnect from iCloud otherwise it might not work (I had trouble in the beginning when one of the conditions wasn't respected but I don't know wich one was causing it)

Quick tip for downgrading to iOS 8, I don't recommend the plist trick because it can cause issues (mostly with phones). Use a tool such as an ota downgrader if you can.

I've done it before, it's more than doable. You change the version number, downgrade to 8.4.1 and then mess with CoolBooter to get a partition with 6.1.3 going. The only difference is you need a different app to jailbreak with for 10.X, something like H3lix.

Hey iClassic, if you reading this, or anyone that could help me, I have a huge problem, in the part of updating to iOS 8 (Which I could after like an hour) it starts all over again and you have to activate and all of that stuff, well, it tells me to connect to wifi, I did it, then it is loading to activate as usual, but then an error pops up, it says something like Error Activating please try again or Unknown iPhone, I don't know if this is cause it's an old version of iOS or maybe not cause the last time I dualbooted to iOS 8 I could activate the phone, but maybe it is cause the version is so glitchy as you said. You can downgrade to iOS 6.1.3 on a 4S
The iPad 2 is the only exception

Can confirm it works on an iPhone 5. The process is the same but you’ll need use a different JB tool

thats only for iPhone 4s and iPad 2. also you can do the plist method to get iOS 6 so an arduino is not needed.

Unfortunately not because the SE is 64-bit, and 64-bit iPhones cannot be downgraded/dual-booted. :(

Why not use nightshade after you downgrade to iOS 8? I was on iOS 10 and I know that nightshade only works on iOS 9 and below.
Because iOS 6 is no longer signed and n1ghtshade is always tethered no matter where you come from for your downgrade.

So if anyone has the same problem and fixed it or someone knows how to fix it, please help me, it will be such a good thing, I went a whole day trying to activate the damn phone, I gave up and reseted it back to iOS 10 and I'm doing the whole thing again, just in this time I'll dualboot on iOS 10 and I REALLY hope it stays on iOS 6 after dualbooting, and if it doesn't and I really need to do it by iOS 8, PLEASE SOME HELP ME ACTIVATE IT IN IOS 8, I literally contacted apple support for it, and they told me the iPhone 5 is obsolete now and it makes no sense trying to go back to an older version lmao, but really if someone can help me fix it if it doesn't work, I'll update the comment if it does work dualbooting on iOS 10 and to it staying on iOS 6 after the phone dies or resets, really I would do anything for someone to help me fix the error on the iOS 8 part, thanks.
