Another superb video and excellent repair job. It looks as if JCB should have bushed those mounting holes at the factory. Replacing bushes is less of a job than line boring the holes. Thanks for your efforts to share your work. Greetings from Germany.
Nice job there. I agree that mag drills aren't ideal for line boring. I borrowed one from a mate to bore the king post on my mini digger - way too many RPM. I'd been watching Kurtis do enough line boring jobs to give it a go myself.
Love your channel. I am following from Chicopee, Massachusetts. Hope are charging enough for your especially talented work. And that doing so enables you to obtain the equipment and facility you desire.
Great video. Quite a tricky and confined space repair. Love the self made line boring setup with a mag drill and bearing plates. You would of definitely struggled setting up and using a conventional Sir Meccanica system with the drive unit and controller.
What material did you use for the bushings? What rpm does the mag drill turn? It’s nice to see real life jobs, not a TH-cam studio where everything is perfect.
An elegant solution to a problem which shouldn’t even exist, if the original design/build had recognised the loading on these points - perhaps the ‘top-hat’ bottom bushing could have a wider ‘brim’ and be held in place with 3 cap screws, just to help if you need to renew the bushes in a couple of years?
Subscribed. Nice and clear shots show what you are doing. My only ask is as you have a quiet voice I need to turn up the volume but then the music is really loud. Look forward to more vids. Thanks.
Hi AS, hope you're well. Really enjoying your videos. Is this a common problem with this type of machine or do you think this is a case of poor/incorrect material or quality control? Poor maintenance? Maybe impossible to tell actual cause and I suppose fixing the problem better than new is the important thing. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and keep up the good work.
I cant believe sum have commented on the music...WOW. Nicely done job mate. Did look near impossible but well done. What size did you finish the bush bore? Any alllowance for crush ? Cheers
Nice job. What is the material you used for the bushings? Is it just regular steel? Do you cut the diameter of the ID exactly the same as the pin, and leave the 0.15mm too large on the OD? Does the ID not compress slightly when pressing in the bushing?
Starting to see a pattern here of under engineered JCB's. Your improvised tools do the job. That is quite a small mag drill. Could you step up with a bigger better mag drill set up. Rather than the huge cost of a proper line borer. I watch the big dedicated line borers on CEE on TH-cam all the time. With welding attachments and all sorts. Make some big money on TH-cam and then treat yourself. Amazing now how many people live off their video earnings.
Yes, could do. I just used the mag drill we already had for one job and it’s lead to using it more and more. I’ve got a better 2 speed motor with variable speed I’m planning on using to make a more advanced set up. CEE line boring rig is the dream!
great stuff Is it always that cold over there you have to wear winter clothes in a shop? and someone told us that they only use dewalt tools over there.
It’s 18c today 😁 but back in February it was between 0-5c and sometime below, the workshop has no insulation so it was pretty cold. I use dewalt mainly because my local shop sells them but never had any problems.
@@snowballengineering I wondered if it gets cold or if it snows there. I see where vehicles rust there bad like up north so they must put salt on the roads too .
50 seconds is well out of order.... I was going to ask you to repair something in my fleet of plant. But now?? No way.. I'm forever scarred by your music choice.
Love this channel, no drama, detailed commentary and explanation while doing the job Well done 👍
Much appreciated!
normal people back in fashion again !!!
Agree 100%!!
one of the things I appreciate about these videos is no music drowning out the sounds of the actual work being done ie the machines etc.
Me too! Many other YT creators could benefit by doing same.
Brilliant video. Great to see a highly skilled engineer at work.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi, the farming community in you're area must think you're a magician 😂 no job is easy, but that's what makes us come back for more, regards ⚙️🚜🚜
Looking good! I would be happy with that repair. I like the simple line boring setup.
Thanks! It’s cheap and cheerful
Tidy repair job, I’m impressed with your lineboring set up. Us Yorkshire lads know how to improvise 🙂
Thanks, certainly do!
This is one of the two engineering channels I watch. The other is CUTTING EDGE AUSTRALIA.
Nice one . We use expander pins at work for that purpose , but those bores were a bit too flogged out for them . Great job . 👍👍👍
Looks like a bit of operator negligence, a lesson in the use of a grease gun might help.
@johncone9516 how do you grease the joints he rebushed? The cylinder pivots on the center of the pin. Those holes that were repaired dont move
A reet job 👍
@@kaseycoleman993 Exactly, 100% right.
The chassis holes shouldn't wear in normal use.🤔
Thank you for all the time it takes to film a job!
Thanks for watching, makes it worthwhile
Didn't take long to get to top notch content. I hope the channel grows!
Keep up the good works.
Much appreciated!
For me this is the first time I've seen vertical line boring while in the machine. I'm sure its not new but i got to see it on this episode.

nice work. I wish I had someone like you for my excavator.
Very cool. It's encouraging to see that you can get a good surface finish feeding by hand with this method.

Something tells me you don’t have a heated shop. Working in the cold always makes it harder. Nice job
No, outside temperature is inside temperature 🥶
Excellent repair and video! Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for watching!
Perfect job. Just the right amount of everything.
Thanks!
Well done, exactly what it says on the tin. I thoroughly enjoy this gentleman’s vlogs, keep it up. 👊🏻👍🏻😎
Thanks, will do!

Awesome. Good work buddy. There’s hope for the youth!
Great job. Always surprised that JCB and other big manufacturers need these mods on them
I would have thought replaceable bushes should have fitted in the first place. But that aside a job well executed.
Nice job. That’s using your noggin. Nice. Plan and simple.
that is a really great quality job. most want to split the machine , but your way really looks awsome !!
I dare say if it went to a dealership they’d have split it and then had to hire in an external company to do the line boring.
Thanks!
Good job , you can send these bushes to be hardened .
Very good, I get some tools destin to the scrap from a friend tip tools reams etc, next time I will save them and drop you a line.
Exactly plus the people are well rounded in there field they talk with experience not in circles
I enjoy watching your post!
Great video Olly very interesting keep the good repair work going well done mate.
I'm Yorkshireman n all...
Good video
☹🇬🇧
This is a common problem. Should have been bushed from the get go by the OEM. Good fix, nice camera work too.
Thanks 😊
Awesome. I hope you patented the design flaw for those JCB's. Bushes should have came from the factory installed. Pretty new machine as well.
JCB would probably say that the design was perfectly ok, just like the headstocks on those loadalls.😊
Great video. Quite a tricky and confined space repair. Love the self made line boring setup with a mag drill and bearing plates. You would of definitely struggled setting up and using a conventional Sir Meccanica system with the drive unit and controller.
Thanks. Yes, it would have been a struggle. Just needs refining some now.
I hope JCB engineers are watching, they could definitely learn something from Oliver! Like, maybe, replaceable bushings?
What material did you use for the bushings? What rpm does the mag drill turn? It’s nice to see real life jobs, not a TH-cam studio where everything is perfect.
I used en8 steel for the bushings. Not sure what rpm the mag drill does but it’s too fast really.
@@snowballengineering yes, i think it will be easy to add an of the shelf standard pwm module for it
Nicely done!!
Excellent all round !
Thanks!
Good job
Great videos , could watch all day. 👍
Thank you!
Super job , very well thought out repair . Great detail in the video.

Just one of them things that wears out eventually. That’s why line boring was invented I guess. Thanks for watching!
Very good Job, not easy to do that. Fair play very clever
Looks very cold in the shop. I told the people over on Cutting Edge Engineering to check out your channel about two weeks ago, maybe it will help.
It is at this time of year 🥶 Thanks! My analytics say I get a good amount of traffic from some of their videos.

better than new , vakwerk💪
Good job sir
Thank you
Where about in Yorkshire are you? I repair forklift trucks I sometimes get a few axles want bushing and boring I’m in wakey 👍
Not far off York. You can email me at: Oliver@snowballfab.co.uk if you need any doing.
that home made rig of yours looks like about the only one that woul of fit , the other line boring set ups i dont think woul have fit
I think you’d of had to split the machine in half to get a go with some on the professional set ups.

throw the bearings in the freezer for a day or more.
liquid nitrogen quicker.
Is that coolant in your spray bottle regular flood coolant the water soluble oil type?
Yes
I hope you explained to the owner that grease is cheap compared to the repair.
Nice job! 👌
Thanks!
What causes the excessive wear on those pin holes? Thanks.👍👍
There has to be a small amount of tolerance to let the pin fit. Over time the pin moves back and forth in that tolerance and slowly wears it.
Speed of the drill seem very fast ?😊
Yes, too fast. But it only has one speed 😏
???Wonder why it wore the front but not the rear
Why dont factory put bushings in when they build? 14:14
If this film doesn’t make farmers or drivers grease up these machines i don’t know what will.
😊😊❤👍👍
Why don’t they use roller bearings?
To help keep the price of the machine more affordable I’d imagine.
why it happens - its seen that it was greased properly
Maybe too much tolerance when new and the pins slowly worn the hole
😉👍🤙👏🏼👏🏼
