That's a tough one. Obviously it'll give away the story but hey, I've seen the film and am looking forward to the series, which will hopefully be more expanded. The film IS amazing though so whether you watch it before or after, watch it. It oozes tension. The cast are awesome, especially Cate Blanchett who isn't in it much but wow... @@MoviesWithMarty
In the movie all the actors were with in the same age group give or take a few years but this one there is a big age difference btw characters. When they did a series of the movie Fatal Attraction, that was so dull and boring compared to the movie. I hope this fairs better.

The film came out in 1999, and also has stunning cinematography and also has an AMAZING jazz soundtrack

There was also a kind of sequel called Ripley's Game which wasn't as interesting.
There's an earlier French version too, _Purple Noon (Plein Soleil)._

The author of the Ripley series, Patricia Highsmith, also wrote Strangers on a Train. Which Alfred Hitchcock made into a film in 1951. 😃
