lol. The guy that flew by was going in the opposite direction, but couldn't seem to mind his own dang side of the road! lol! Thanks! She runs like a champ! I'll get a better acceleration video when I have someone to hold the camera.
4:11 gears or 4:56? How does it do pulling a full load? seems like power is lacking under 2,500? My whole life, I've been told these v6's were dogs... I have a fresh 396 bbc and a 305 v6 and a 67 k2500 that needs an engine....wish i could test drive a v6 to make sure I'm not crazy before I drop a big block in an original v6 truck...
It's 411 gearing in mine. The v6s were truck engines, not fast but would pull anything. I never hit full throttle in this video at all lol If your looking for speed then do the 396. If your looking for originality do the v6. The 305 wasn't the only one either......you can always go bigger.
I know it’s been a few years but I have a 67 gmc 3500 with the 305 would you happen to know anything about an electric fuel pump that will work for it , my mechanical one stoped and I’ve been considering electric
@@militarychevy711Correct me if I'm wrong. I don't know that much about gears and what not in the differential but I'm assuming you could get a little better gas mileage if you had different gears 😬. Also that's not too bad. Considering I will be using it only on the weekends and for camping trips. Thank you for the reply. 💪👍
@@militarychevy711 Ok cool. Thank you again for the response. I'm little torn on whether to put the original motor in it because of Parts availability also. Need to some more research. Thanks.
flowmaster 40 series mufflers. 2.25 from the manifolds to the mufflers and 2.5 inch tail pipes. True dual exhaust. Thinking of putting cutouts in now. lol
Dude you could have purchased one for like 20 bucks or less at a swap meet .. The Old chevy V6 was a low RPM Torque monster so neck snapping throttle response your just not going to ever see ...but I have to give you an A for originality ,...
Problem I was far away from any decent swap meets at the time. And those V6's are gmc specific just do you know. It was an improvement over stock for sure though.
too bad gmc v6 s werent viewed as performance engines that would benefit with aftermarket intake manifolds, exhaust headers....just my 2 buffalo nickels
The sunlight got ya. Sounds like somebody blew your doors off there. Haha. Truck runs very nicely.

Yep, sounds like a truck should. Will look great once it's painted correctly. Very nice work.
Exhaust sounds good to me! Really like the tach too.
Thanks! Those flowmasters are good mufflers! Yeah! We both have the same tach! lol
What is one of these 301/351 V6 GMC engines worth, one complete with trans out of 1960
Just got one of these engines on a straight across trade for junk lol how sought after are these engines? Are they worth any money in running shape?
Oh yeah the v6 is really purring now! That thing has such a nice deap rumble, if I had that truck I would be revin it all day!
Thanks man! Yeah I love those flowmasters! 2500 sounds the best for this motor!
That is a great sounding engine. Obviously your intake mod worked great! Thanks for sharing
Those 1405's are great 600cfm carbs. I have 2 on my gen2 Hemi.

sounds really good, but sounds like a v8 at ideal good job sir Dano 1/7/17

I've been running the big carter pump on mine. I installed a regulator to keep the pressure down. Has served me well.
Looks like that worked out well..Good stuff.
Thanks man!
What's you're gas mileage. I'm thinking of getting a GMC V6 in my 66 Suburban
They do ok, best I've gotten is 14 but she's running 4.11 gearing with a 4 speed.

@@fastm3980 Tallers gears or an over drive trans would make for better highway fuel mileage yes.

I just wanted to ask you about your front suspension springs. What did you need to do for all that extra weight?
Truck came stock with that engine so it's a typical GM front end.
damn that sounds fantastic!!
Thanks!
@@militarychevy711 Heavy sound V6 ! Almost sound like a V8. Probably larger displacement which helps lol
Sure does sound good !!! I bet it can haul a good load without any problems :)
Thanks! She hauls a load just fine!
Which holley carb is that what model. Thanks
Its an edelbrock that's on there currently but I used to have a 600 cfm holley I was gonna put on
The v6 sounds great!
Thanks man! I need to get a better drive video. haha
Sounds kind of like a 6-92 Detroit Diesel.
Does just a little don't it lol
hey military, what exhaust do you have? and size of pipe?
flowmaster 40 series mufflers. 2.25 from the manifolds to the mufflers and 2.5 inch tail pipes. True dual exhaust. Thinking of putting cutouts in now. lol
Listen to that baby prr nice job buddy
Thanks man! If you wanna see updated videos of the truck check out my channel. :)
Sounds great and runs great.
Thanks! She sure does!
Hey ya wasn't suppose to mention that the steering hangs to the right when ya let go.
lol! Should said hangs to the left?
gotta fix those liberal leanings.
MostlymoparIH lol
good stuff man! looks good
Thanks man! She's a runner fer sure!
sounds great bud!
Thanks!
sounds good
I agree! Thanks!
P.S. Put some 3:36:1 gears in the back and you got a highway hauler without excess RPMs. Time to get a real camera-not a cellphone job.

Won't let me reply to you. Thanks for the comment!
This thing runs so good, I can't stand it.
lol!
Like the valve covers
Thanks! Yeah, chrome paint spruced things up a bit. lol!

There have been those who gave made great power with these engines, but uniqueness is going under these days.
If you just had one more gear...
I could go even faster!
Nice!
sweet!
Thanks!
Filming into direct sunlight never seems to work.....
Problem was the sun was on the left side of me....so not even close to direct. lol
nice !!
Thanks man!
Idle is WAAAAY too fast. Should be around 450 RPM.
