The reason why I'm still excited for this game despite all of the small issues I have with it (though I will say that a couple voices are a bit odd which is pretty big in comparison to some wording changes) is because I remind myself that it's literally just the beginning of the game. People keep comparing it to well established games with a big budget, but also forget that WuWa rewrote 90% of the story, reworked the echoes system, changed character models, and had to completely remake all of the cutscenes with (most likely) less budget than they got for the original version. I firmly believe that WuWa will get better to point it won't even feel like the same game a year after it's full release.

My main issues from current wuwa (based on some cc I watch):
    1. Echoes oftentimes are unusable (main stat havoc, but only can be used for aero, as an example). Idk it's so bad or just bad, but it'll be better if they reduce set requirements from 5/5 into 4/5
    2. Glider should be faster
    3. Sometimes the open world is too empty
    4. Some echo's movement needs improvement
    5. Crownless scenes less impactful
    6. Bugs and camera movement
Anything else is good, for now. Let's search for more improvement to make the game better and better. I want this game to succeed

11:35 I don't see how that correlates at all tbh. The negative feedback regarding the aggressiveness was pretty much 100% due to Chixia, in fact Crownless was one of, if not the most praised and hyped parts of the game on social media and the cutscene definitely played a part in that and amplified enjoyment of the gameplay. The fact that a lot of people are complaining about it shows that people didn't want this change, and that they felt like they lost something that was good.
I hope Kuro does return the old cutscene but there's very little chance as i've heard CN likes and that's obviously Kuro's main audience, we could only have a chance at changing it if more people and CCs like you actually bring this into the spotlight. First impressions are very important and it'll be best for the game as a whole if the first boss they fought left a major impression.

Awu was critized a lot not just chixia for the same thing and that was much deeper into the games story, but cut scenes dont make a game, it is a part but the game still needs to be good. This is my first impression and my thoughts and i stand on them and respect others thoughts, you guys cant force ccs to just say things cause your getting mad and screaming about it ( not you but in general) Like i said cutscenes are very much apart of the depiction of story, i agree i like the entire cbt1 cutscene but im also aware of different regions that exist in the space. Cn and the west have a many of different likes/ dislikes that might not align. Its really up to kuro to find the balance between that. I hope Kurogames don't blindly listen to CN whiners that wants to self insert themselves in the game, one of the reasons why PGR story was so good was because of the Global and CN bring together saying all of their critiques towards the game at the time, I hope they make the story that is well paced, as well as understandable characters, the only thing I am invested with was Jiyan and Scar's Quest.

@@Zoxaskun honestly I do like most of the changes they made, and I'm not saying at all that the game is somehow ruined or worse than it was before just because of this one cutscene. I just think that it sucks that they took it away basically. For me personally it sours the crownless' impact a little but I'm still gonna enjoy the rest of the game regardless cause it isn't a major flaw at the end of the day.
Btw Im not forcing anyone or any CC to complain about anything and I don't approve of those that do, it's up to them whether or not they want to. I'm just saying that change is more likely to occur if they did but if they don't then hey, I can't do anything about it, it's their opinion.
I appreciate your coverage on Wuwa, man. This game needs to draw in an audience and you guys are like the bridge to that. Keep it up.

I realy like the weapon standard banner. I'm not that interested about all the standard characters so after having Jianxin i don't need to pull on standard characters banner anymore. I like the other characters too, particularly Kakarot but i'm ok to just wait for him to shaft me in the limited banners or maybe wait for a selector that could come out one day, or just never have him. So all my standard pulls can go to the weapon that i need for my other character, like the gantlet for Jianxin or the long sword for Taoqi etc... And i'm garanty to have them after 80 pulls.
In Genshin after some time i just pulled on standard banner because i had the currency to pull but i never expected anything in particular. If i got some weapon that's cool maybe but most of the time that was characters that i didn't want. And the characters that i realy liked to main didn't have a 5 star weapon.
Noted that there is already a free weapon selector box at the start of the game (if they don't change that) so i'm sure i can have a good amount of 5 star weapon with time. Probably all of them and swap them around on various characters if needed.
Outside of that, there is something that i personally realy like about the gameplay and i don't see people talking about it that much, is the fact that every characters has their particular way to play. Every character has a different way to use their special attack, it is not just a E button to click and its deliver a specific unique attack. It is also a different way to build this special attack or/and a different way to deliver it with for some char a variation of the result. Added to that the combos that exist with basic attacks etc... Every chars is played realy differently.

i think at this point what im looking for out of this game is focus on co-op/multiplayer. part of my issue with genshin impact is that it feels more like a single player game with very little sprinkled onto it multiplayer wise, and i need something more before i consider diving into a game like this. so if the teamplay/raid bosses/dungeons / etc are all solid, i can see myself getting into this game and potentially even paying every now and again because the gacha seems more generous here. i tried some of the cbt myself and i will say the battle system definitely feels good, i just dont wanna see that go to waste.

  • @crunchycres

As someone who also has the honor to play CBTII, the only things that are bothering me atm are the rapid camera movement when jumping (it just feels very stiff and unpleasant) and some issues with the camera angles while targeting one specific enemy (it was kinda annoying whenever the Scar-Boss jumped up in the air and my camera sort of tried to follow which messed up my sense of orientation). It would also be nice if they'd add some sort of character tutorials too (just like in PGR), so that you can fully understand the character's gameplay (I'm aware that you can read through the talent descriptions, but it could still be helpful to have a guide mid-combat in form of a tutorial).
About exploration, I can't say it's the most enjoyable, but it is clear that the games' focus lies heavily on combat, which I personally prefer. I kinda just gather the things around me while unlocking teleportation points, collecting materials or playing quests. Now the only thing I'm curious about is Multiplayer, since I'm still Union lvl 22 and I'll have to wait until lvl 30 to unlock it.

🌸 *My critique of WuWa:* 🙏 I sincerely hope they increase the difficulty of the story / campaign mode. There's no point hyping up the boss in a cutscene if people don't even get to enjoy a challenge afterward. That's failed expectations and it's not a good feeling to make your players go through: promising the most awesome boss fight and delivering an underwhelming scrimmage.
I know some people are defending this saying *"think of the casuals",* but if you look at mainstream video games, even they will not make the main campaign that easy. And there's a reason for that. It's something psychologists have figured out about why people get hooked on games in general (not just video games).
The reason is: games that are too easy are boring. Overcoming challenges releases a strong hit of dopamine to the brain. The best games thrive on challenge.
This is true for Tetris, Pac-Man, Street Fighter, etc. Video games broke into the mainstream because of this scientific fact. Overcoming challenges in games is fun.
I think most people have their eyes on WuWa because they don't want a gacha that "pretends" to be a game. They want a real game that happens to be a gacha.
In "real" games, unless it's something for kids (like Pokemon), the standard level of game difficulty is not as low as Genshin's. And this is the case for most mainstream (Teen rated to M rated) games.
*Even from a storytelling perspective,* the player will not think much of the character if they're a pushover in the story. Gameplay experience is part of the narrative experience too. Gameplay tells the story just as much as cutscenes do. Elden Ring is a perfect example of that. Kuro Games seems to have forgotten this.
Which leads me to believe that they're trying too hard to do things "the Genshin way", instead of analyzing the video game industry as a whole and figuring out what works in RPGs, ARPGs, and open-world games that have become popular enough to break into mainstream popularity. They have to take a step back and view themselves as "a game developer" instead of just "a gacha game competing against Genshin".
Why is Alpha so revered among PGR players? Is it just because she looks cool? No. It's because she completely crushes the players and shows us how weak we are compared to her in the story (and this is shortly after the tutorial). That's storytelling and character presentation done right.
This experience in PGR promises the player that this game demands skill and they need to pay attention to what they're doing and learn how to play (as you would for any real video game that you buy on Steam or console). It also solidifies a perception of Alpha in the players' heads. The perception is: Alpha is really cool and really strong. This perception (solidified by the gameplay experience) encouraged players to purchase her in the gacha. And even beyond the realm of the game, she is a respected character for all those who know her (because she's strong and mopped the floor with everyone to initiate them into the game).
It tells a story, builds a reputation, promises an entertaining gameplay experience akin to console games, and boosted sales in the gacha. Alpha is PGR's most popular character.
Gameplay experience is a part of the narrative experience. If you want to tell a mature story with cool bosses and intimidating enemies, then that has to be supported with the gameplay, not just a cutscene.
Games are fun because they're challenging. A game, by nature, is not fun if it doesn't challenge you in some way. This is a fundamental of game design and supported by many research studies in psychology. If the challenge is not there in the interaction with the game, it becomes monotonous. It becomes a chore. Then you have to create your own form of entertainment to hold you over.
No one should have to wait until hours of gameplay to finally have fun with the game. No one should have to cope their way through your game for hours to experience "fun".
It will ruin the overall experience.
It will disuade normies who would've tried the game because they'll just see WuWa as mindless gacha bait that forces players to grind for hours before they experience the fun challenging combat that was advertised (again, why grind to access the fun when you can just purchase a random game on Steam).
If we're talking about casuals and normies (among older teens and adults) that's how they are. Games have been mainstream for decades. People buy and play games as entertainment. Gaming is not niche like it once was.
Shying away from challenging the player (especially when Elden Ring is one of the greatest best-selling games of all time) does not make sense unless you're trying to target children like Pokemon does.
Wuthering Waves is sabotaging itself by trying to cater to Genshin's audience (which happens to be very young in age) instead of pacing challenges properly like most video games do.
I actually find it silly because the start of Honkai Star Rail is challenging and if you're not careful or maxing the level of your characters, your party does die from time to time. Hoyo made the game more difficult than Genshin because HSR is meant for an older teen audience.
The age rating of the game in the app store, the more adult designs of the characters, the more mature story, and even the advertisements for the game all reflect that HSR is meant for an older audience than Genshin's. Most older teens and adults would find Genshin to be too easy. They're most likely transitioning to HSR, waiting for ZZZ, or hoping Wuthering Waves is more "grown-up" for them to play.
It's wild that Hoyo knows how to manage their target demographics in marketing and gameplay difficulty, but Kuro Games is lacking that insight because they have tunnel vision and are stuck at trying to be the next Genshin.
They need to find their own definition of the "casual" player. HSR's definition of casual and Genshin's definition of casual are not the same.
They need to analyze mainstream video games and what levels of difficulty works for the age demographic WuWa is aiming for.
They need to have the mindset of a AAA game developer instead of an imitator. Genshin is not the end-all-be-all of gaming. And imitating something when you don’t truly understand why they're doing what they're doing and why it works can lead to failure.
I sincerely hope they fix the difficulty or I can't see this not being a total disaster. Younger audiences will always prefer Genshin because kids like bright colors and simplified cuter art styles. The difficulty matches the marketing, aesthetic, and intended audience.
WuWa is a dark game, less saturated, more mature, and will therefore attract older audiences. Make the game too easy for the average older teen or adult "normy" and they will absolutely drop the game.

For where the game is currently (aka the very beginning), it's understandable that is feels basic, but considering the insane kits Kuro has cooked in pgr vs when it was released, I wouldn't be surprised that in a year the game will feel entirely different. Also, while elements don't mean a lot right now, characters still have kits that synergize with others by buffing their skill when the requirements are met, they just don't mean as much now because, again, it's just the beginning.

They removed the elemental gameplay because it was very suffocating and stringent to get more out of it and they instead kept it to just Enemy weaknesses and Immunities
Which is far better, I'll miss the buffs you get from pairing units but Echoes already do that
Its way too much to keep track of when bosses are whooping you and trust me they do whoop you I'm glad they simplified it
Instead they moved it into switching characters with is Intro/Outro
If you love genshin I can understand why you want it here but they moved away from that because it was way too much to try to just get into combat especially because it was microscopic stats and timing and good God it was so much to do
Now when you Swap in you'll get a buff based on the elements and the characters do whatever attack they need to do for a switch in out switch out
Again I'm unsure what your complaints are because no one really is missing the element system, even the content creators

I have to disagree on storytelling, it's still pretty meh. While I find lore interesting, game drowns player with exposition and lore dumping early on. This is by no means problem exclusive to WuWa, it almost seem like an innate flaw of eastern (by that i mean mostly chinese, japanese & korean) games. I gave up Final Fantasy XIV after my 2 hours of "playing the game" consisted entirely of running from NPC to NPC to read another wall of text. Fortunately it isn't as bad in WuWa, I'd say it's comparable to 1.0 Genshin (and I've been there), good enough to not be off-putting, but nothing to write home about. And just like Genshin back then, WuWa also has a lot more to offer.

To me it is okay. This is better than before CBT1. At least, I can understand the story. It is not very dramastic or despressing for a novel story. The story is about apocalypse world that looking for hope and your arrival is slowly turning the world back to peaceful.
Honestly, This is RARE to see a gacha game is trying to pull off this kind of story. Usually, it is about finding a truth and slowly become to endless depressing.
For example, Nikke, Azur Lane, Arknights, Blue Archive, that trash company and etc. That is why the story is good.

@KyHeartWill The consensus seems to be that the Crownless boss really lost his menace factor, but everything else is better than CBT1, more coherent for starters.

Ima be real with you the story is being compared to Cbt1 and comparing it to that makes it leagues better
Besides the direction they went was a lot better and sets up more for the future, let them cook
I'll agree the intro is slow but after crownless in Cbt1 is was just randomly running around and yapping
